Recently, the interest in technologies for a highly efficient powertrain, i.e. a variable displacement engine or a light weight car body, to improve the fuel efficiency of automobile saving the environment has been increased. However this trend deteriorates NVH performance of a vehicle and the use of a conventional engine mounting system becomes unsatisfactory. In order to solve this dilemma, an active engine mounting system that could isolate or cancel out vibrations occurred at the powertrain was suggested. In this paper, In order to optimize the electromagnetic active engine mount performance, the actuator of the engine mount through FEM analysis and optimal design, noise and elastomer testing of the prototype through the optimal design of actuators for the electromagnetic active engine mount on the impact of the performance improvement is verified.

A hybrid electromagnetic actuator with an air spring is designed so as to achieve the desired isolation reduce the vibration efficiency on the floor vibration. The performance specification of the hybrid electromagnetic actuator is determined based on the vibration criterion for vibration-sensitive equipment. In basic design stage of the electromagnetic actuator, the simple reluctance method is adapted to analyze magnetic circuits. The result is verified by finite element analysis using ANSYS Emag. Finally, some design parameters are optimized under several constraint conditions. Through this study, the design procedure for a specific electromagnetic actuator is set up using a simple reluctance method.

In this study, a new shielding method was applied to an accessory device that produces electromagnetic waves in the magnetic resonance room to prevent the generation of artifact caused by electromagnetic waves. The research method applied a new shielding made of metal plating fiber to patient surveillance CCTVs without shielding technology, and obtained and evaluated noise map when the power was not cut off and when the new shielding technology was applied without shutting down the CCTV. As a result of the study, it was found that there was at least one group with significant differences. Type I and type III belonged to group 1 while type II belonged to group 2 in the Post-hoc analysis, which meant blocking power of the CCTV and the applying new shielding technology were in the same group. In conclusion, if electromagnetic waves are generated due to additional accessories in the scanning room, the shielding material proposed in this study should be applied which enables the electric state become similar to type I, not generating noise, thereby preventing the artifacts caused by electromagnetic waves.
According to electrical output up rating of a permanent magnet motor and request to operate for a large variable speed range, resonance between structural natural vibration and electromagnetic force inside the motor can take place and make noise. This paper describes the mechanism of a resonance between them and noise lowering procedure by frequency shift when they are applied to the reluctance torque largely employed new motor named Permanent magnet Reluctance Motor (PRM).

This paper presents one of the methods for design to reduce the noise and vibration of 200kW motor for electric propulsion ship. One of the important factors affecting vibration of the motor is the resonance. The natural frequency and natural mode of the 200kW motor is analyzed by using FEM tool and impact test equipment to avoid the resonance. Also, compare FEM result with impact test result to make a reliable FE model of 200kW motor. In order to find out the effect of the noise and vibration of the motor by electromagnetic excitation force, conduct electromagnetic-structure coupled analysis. These characteristics are much useful to design 200kW motor for electric propulsion ship.

This paper presents a new microwave oscillator incorporating a corrugated coplanar waveguide (CCPW) electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure as its terminating resonance component. The use of a compact CCPW EBG structure was effective in reducing the phase noise and improving the harmonic characteristics of the microwave oscillator circuit without additional backside processing and drastic size increment. The fully planar CCPW oscillator oscillating at the frequency of 5.41 GHz showed a phase noise characteristic of -90.7 dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset and a second harmonic suppression of 42.67 dB.
When a squirrel cage induction motor is loaded, the electromagnetic noise can increase depending on the load current. It is due to the air gap harmonic fluxes from the rotor current induced during loading. This unfavorable noise can be anticipated by calculating the radial force waves in the air gap, vibration mode shapes of them, and stator core natural frequencies of each mode. With the experimental tests with the different rotor slot numbers, the variation of electromagnetic noise is studied between on-loaded and loaded running.
The cultural noise sources in magnetotellurics were localized using the source localization method. Conventional beamforming techniques are not applicable for electromagnetic source localization. In this study, the matched field processing and genetic algorithm are used to localize an electromagnetic source and estimate the polarization direction. The source localization using MT field data shows the characteristics of estimated source distribution related to the strength of cultural noise.
Background: Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are ubiquitous in modern society including medical field. As the technology of medical instruments and telecommunications has developed rapidly, it has influenced on our lives in many ways. Modern medical practice requires high quality medical equipments, which have a great deal of electromagnetic interference and susceptibility. The purpose of this study were to evaluate electromagnetic condition under usual clinical condition and to suggest a practical guideline in general hospital. Materials and Methods: The actual state of the electromagnetic interference in the medical field was studied under usual clinical conditions including operating rooms, intensive care units, magnetic resonance imaging unit, and hyperthermia unit. Results: There was considerable noise as a result of electromagnetic fields from medical equipments including electrosurgical units and hyperthermia unit, and cellular phones, which could induce serious functional derangements of functioning medical devices. Conclusion: It will be necessary to evaluate the individual electromagnetic situations under various medical conditions and to define a limited zone for cellular phone as well as reposition medical equipments to secure a safer medical practice and to minimize electromagnetic interference.
