  • This paper proposes an alternate time-switched space-frequency block coding transmission technique for orthogonal frequency division modulation systems. There are two antennas in the transmitter but it still has only a baseband and RF and a switch that alternates between the antennas at every symbol timing. Alternating transmit symbols result in zeros that make maximal ratio receive combining possible in the receiver. Simulation results show that it provides better performance than the traditional algorithm at the expense of one additional antenna.

  • This paper presents a quantitative analysis on the intermodulation product between transmitter W-CDMA leakage signal and receiver out of band blocker, and proposes design guide lines for overcoming the effect in receiver design. Our analysis shows that duplexer isolation, attenuation and LNA IIP3 are mainly responsible for the 3rd order intermodulation product. Analysis also shows that LNA IIP3 required for meeting 3GPP TS 34.121 specification is about 1 ㏈m with duplexer isolation of 50 ㏈ and duplexer attenuation of 24㏈.

  • This paper presents the design of 860 MHz band transmitter for improving power amplifier's linearity using Cartesian feedback method. For eliminating the effects of gain, phase mis-match, and DC offset, we estimate the property variations using ADS software. The implemented Cartesian feedback transmitter exhibits IMD3 of -54 dBc at an output power of 43 dBm and this result shows that the linearity is improved for 22.4 dB, compared with the test of the power amplifier without Cartesian feedback system. Thus, we verify that the proposed Cartesian feedback transmitter can be applied to narrow-band transmitter systems.

  • Chaos communication system has characteristics of non-periodic, non-predictability, broadband signal and easy implementation. Also, chaos communication system is sensitive to the initial value, because completely another signal is generated when initial value of chaos equation is changed subtly. By these characteristics, security of chaos communication system is generally evaluated better than other digital communication systems. However, BER(Bit Error Rate) performance is worse than other digital communication systems, because transmitter and receiver of existing chaos communication system are strongly influenced by reference signal and noise. So, studies in order to improve the BER performance of chaos communication system is continuously performed. In this paper, We will propose a new CDSK (Correlation Delay Shift Keying) receiver in order to improve the BER performance. After we compare to the performance of existing receiver and proposed receiver, BER performance of proposed receiver evaluate. A novel receiver has characteristic that BER performance is better than existing receiver. However, if existing transmitter is used, existing receiver is possible to recover information bits even though BER performance is bad. Therefore, we propose a novel CDSK transmitter in order to improve the security of proposed receiver. When information bits are transmitted by using proposed transmitter, existing receiver is impossible to recover information bits, and proposed receiver is possible to recover information bits.

  • In this paper we consider an application of the method of electromagnetic (EM) migration to the interpretation of a typical marine controlled-source (MCSEM) survey consisting of a set of sea-bottom receivers and a moving electrical bipole transmitter. Three-dimensional interpretation of MCSEM data is a very challenging problem because of the enormous number of computations required in the case of the multi-transmitter and multi-receiver data acquisition systems used in these surveys. At the same time, we demonstrate that the MCSEM surveys with their dense system of transmitters and receivers are extremely well suited for application of the migration method. In order to speed up the computation of the migration field, we apply a fast form of integral equation (IE) solution based on the multigrid quasi-linear (MGQL) approximation which we have developed. The principles of migration imaging formulated in this paper are tested on a typical model of a sea-bottom petroleum reservoir.

  • Currently, wireless power transmission technology based on magnetic induction was employed in battery charger for smart phone application. The system consists of wireless power transmitter in base station and receiver in smart phone. Size and thickness of receiver was strictly limited in the newest smart phone. In order to achieve high efficiency of a tiny small wireless power receiver module, sub-millimeter thick electromagnetic wave shielding sheet having high permeability and Q was essential component. It was found that magnetic field from transmitter to receiver can be intensified by sufficient shielding cause to minimize leakage magnetic flux by those magnetic properties. This leads to high efficiency of wireless power transmission and protects crucial integrated circuit of main board from electromagnetic noise. The important soft magnetic materials were introduced and summarized for the current small-power wireless power charger and NFC application and mid-power home appliance and high-power automotive application in the near future.

  • This paper describes the RF performance issues of UE for W-CDMA system based on 3 GPP specifications. The parameters of transmitter and receiver are derived from the viewpoint of RF performance. In order for UE to achieve high performance, the transceiver performance requirements such as ACLR, EVM, Peak Code Domain Error, spectrum emission mask, frequency error stability and TX power control dynamic range for transmitter and reference sensitivity level, blocking characteristics, noise figure, ACS, AGC dynamic range for receiver are considered. On the basis of the required parameters, the UE RF transceiver is implemented and then the evaluation of RF performance is accomplished through practical test scenarios.

  • In this experiment I have made FM-DS/SS system replacing 170.120 MHz by utilizing FM transmitter and receiver. In the transmitter, the result shows that the modulated FM-DS/SS signal is a typical $(sin \chi/\chi)^2$ spectrum by using the clock(1.329 MHz) of PN divided from FM carrier. In the receiver, SO(Synchronous Oscillator) was applied to despread. Like figure 1, 2, and 4 when I applied SO, which consists of sliding correlator, to synchronous a favorable properties could be obtained in the receiver of FM-DS/SS system. In this paper, I used SO in order to take synchronous in the construction of FM-DS/SS system, and to support it I presented the result of the experiment on synchronous curve and properties of OS.

  • Whereas it is well known that microwave propagation around corners of urban area is estimated well by the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD), it is not clear how much depolarization occurs at a given receiver position and how much transmission through walls affects to total path loss. This paper presents the results of the ray tracing simulation to answer these questions. Simulations of microwave propagation around corners were performed for various line-of-sight (LOS) and out-of-sight(OOS) positions of a receiver, by summing the electrical fields of reflected, diffracted and transmitted rays coherently. Since height difference between transmitter and receiver, as well as ground plane, causes depolarization, the ray tracing simulation estimates the cross-polarization coupling. It was found that the cross-polarization coupling decreases as receiver moves away from transmitter. Another part of the study focused on the signal transmitted through building walls of the corner. It was found that the transmitted field is dominant at OOS region when the conductivity of the walls is low (for example, lower than 0.0l S/m). The simulation results of the ray tracing technique in this study agreed well with an experimental measurement around corners.
