  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated electromagnetic induction based scaffold type energy harvester. For energy harvesting, mechanical energy of vertical motion is transferred to rotational energy using rack gear and multiplying gear was used to maximize energy transfer. To optimize design parameters, physical structure of energy harvester was modeled using finite element method. The effect of multiplying gear ratio and frequency levels of applied mechanical energy on energy generation efficiency are analyzed by computer simulation and experimental test. Experimental results showed that maximum 25.36 W of electric power can be achieved at the frequency of 2 Hz and 1:77 of gear ratio with only 5 mm of vertical changes on scaffold structure.

  • A thermionic energy converter test station is constructed for the study of electromagnetic energy generation. Of particular interest is the frequency variations due to changes in the interelectrode gap, the electrode temperature, and the cesium vapor pressure. It is found experimentally that the most intense ratio-frequency(rf) oscillations occur at two non-overlapping regions.

  • Ultra wide band electromagnetic energy can be transmitted to a far field by emitting the nanoseconds high voltage Pulse electromagnetic energy via an antenna. This UWB EM energy is expected to be used in post-packing pasteurization of food, detection of buried objects or underground water veins and caves and the treatment of waste water or polluted gas. The nanoseconds pulse forming for UWB generation using 500kV blumlein line and an ultrafast switch is mentioned.

  • According to revolutionary developments in automobile technologies, various electronically controlled components of vehicles are rapidly increasing. A variety of advanced vehicles (hybrid vehicle, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, electric vehicle, etc.) using electrical energy source are increasing, too. The electromagnetic compatibility is getting more important for development of a vehicle because those advanced vehicles are equipped with more new electronic systems. In general, electromagnetic compatibility tests consist of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) test and an electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) test. In this paper, in order to investigate the electromagnetic interference in the cabin of vehicle by various electric and electronic components of vehicles, a series of narrowband electromagnetic emission tests are conducted. For comparison, the several digital home appliances (smartphone under charging, laptop compuer and digital camera), which are used a lot in daily lives, are tested.

  • We investigated annealing effect of microforged powders on magnetic properties and electromagnetic absorption behaviors for ferromagnetic Fe-Cr metal alloy powder-polymer composites. The coercive properties greatly decreased with annealing temperature and the magnetic permeability had significantly increased after microforging and subsequent annealing treatment, due to a reduction in lattice strain of the microforged powders. The power loss in the far field regime also had greatly increased after microforging and subsequent annealing treatment in frequency range from 50 MHz to 6 GHz. As a result, the electromagnetic absorption of ferromagnetic Fe-Cr alloy metal powder-polymer composites was highly improved because of the relaxation of the internal strain during annealing process.

  • This paper describes a low frequency driven electromagnetic energy harvester (EMEH) which consists of a thin flame resistant (FR-4) planar spring, NdFeB permanent magnets, and a copper coil. The FR-4 spring was fabricated using a desk computer numerical control (CNC) 3D modeling machine. Mathematical modeling and ANSYS finite element analysis (FEA) were used totheoretically investigate the mechanical properties of the spring mass system. The proposed EMEH generates a maximum power of 65.33 ${\mu}W$ at a resonance frequency of 8 Hz with an acceleration of 0.2 g (1 g = 9.8 $m/s^2$) and a superior normalized power density (NPD) of 77 ${\mu}W/cm^3{\cdot}g^2$.

  • This paper presents an electromagnetic kinetic energy harvester which is suitable for supplying power for body-worn sensors and personal electric devices. Human motions are investigated by measuring the acceleration signal at each points of the body during walking and running. The dynamic characteristics of the harvester can be calculated from the transfer function of the system. The transduction factor can be calculated from the electromagnetic field analysis by Maxwell software. The prototype of the harvester is designed and manufactured. The theoretical power characteristics are compared with the experiment results.

  • This paper describes the design and analyses of vibration driven electromagnetic energy harvester with high power generation which is suitable for supplying power generator from human body motion. The proposed harvester consists of magnet, coil, and SM (Soft magnetic Material). In order to generate more induced voltage, the SM to concentrate flux lines from end of magnetic poles was arranged into insert moving magnet. Each model was designed and analyzed by using ANSYS software to simulation. The maximum power is generated when load resistance of $1303\;{\Omega}$ is equal to coil resistance. The generated maximum power of for harvesters with SM is $677.85\;{\mu}W$ and 5.46 times higher than without SM at 6 Hz vibration frequency.

  • This paper describes the fabrication and characteristics of a low frequency vibration driven electromagnetic energy harvester. The fabricated generator consists of a permanent magnet of NdFeB, a FR-4 planar spring and a Copper cylinder type coil. ANSYS modal analysis was used to determine the resonant frequency for the generator. The implemented generator is capable of producing up to 550 mV peak-to-peak under 7 Hz frequency, which has a maximum power of $95.5\;{\mu}W$ with load resistance of $580\;{\Omega}$. This device is shown to generate sufficient power at different resonating modes, and the experimental and simulated results are discussed and composed.

  • This paper presents a design and analysis of an electromagnetic micro generator which can convert low frequency vibration energy to electrical power. The design aspects of the micro generator comprised planar spring, Cu coil and a permanent magnet(NdFeB). Threetype spring designs and four materials(Parylene, FR-4, Cu and Si) were compared to find resonance frequency. It was found that the resonance frequency will be changed according to the spring shape and material. Mechanical and magnetic parameters had been adjusted to optimize the output power through a comprehensive theoretical study.
