  • This paper gives an assessment criteria and reliability improvement for high frequency power supply of high efficacy electrodeless fluorescent lamp. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp system consist of electrodeless fluorescent lamp, high frequency power supply and lighting fixtures. The high frequency power supply has a shortest life at the system. Therefore It is need to assess the Failure Rate or Mean Time To Failure(MTTF) for the high frequency power supply of electrodeless fluorescent lamp system and improve the reliability at design. We suggest the assessment criteria and improve methods of the reliability on the design basis for the electodeless fluorescent system.

  • An electric power efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has big relative propertye of gas in lamp, gas pressure, lamp formation, ingredients of magnetic substance and shape and action frequency etc. We used magnetic substance that open self-examination material of electrodeless fluorescent lamp antenna. Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. Coill turn was changed from 13th to 15th turn to recognize brightness change of lamp by winding number. Optical equipment that used in an experiment was used to measure brightness (LS-100). When an electrodeless fluorescent lamp was made using and T company's PE22, was it showed the highest brightness. As number of winding is increased the brightness increased, and starting characteristic became good.

  • Characteristics of electrodeless lamp as a load of the ballast is different compared to normal fluorescent lamp because the lamp includes the magnetics for inductive discharging process. So somewhat different modeling is necessary to make a proper power match between the lamp and ballast. Modeling of an electrodeless lamps, Endura of Osram, is presented in this paper. Simulation with a result of experiment is given for a verification of proposed model.

  • In this study, we have manufactured electrodeless ultraviolet lamp which has a long life and a high degree of efficiency than the existing electrode UV lamp used in sewage effluent sterilization disinfection. First, we investigated change of UV intensity and temperature of lamp by activation materials. The best results for the dose response experiments were 250 minutes stabilizing to UV intensity of $300{\mu}W/cm^2$ and surface temperature $200{\sim}250^{\circ}C$ in Hg/Ind's weight ratio 95/5. When electrodeless UV lamp emits light for prolonged hours, surface temperature of lamp increases. therefore, temperature change is studied using a duplex lamp for cooling in actual sewerage process. Also, manufactured electrodeless UV lamp showed sterilization efficiency of more than 99.9% as result that experiment manufactured electrodeless UV lamp by E-coli. for sterilization disinfection of sewage effluent.

Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. We have examined resistance kind, impedance, Q-factor's frequency characteristic by ferrite. Impedance, resistance and capacitance did not show difference in start frequency 2.65 [MHz] but there was difference quantity. We could know Q-factor's difference according to material, and Q-factor's is important part of antenna design.

  • This paper reviews electrodeless lamp technology. The lamp has very long life time but very high cost compared to conventional lamps such as fluorescent lamp. For optimizing the overall system in performance and cost power supply as well as lamp is very important. First, the paper describes various electrodeless lamps and its market condition. Then, a lot of circuit technology for constructing the power supply is reviewed and circuit characteristics are discussed

  • In this paper, We measured an electric and optical characteristics for electrodeless fluorescent lamp system. We used the CCD(charged couple device) and Integrating Sphere Photometer to detect the accurate variation of data and got a characteristic of output voltage and current, luminance, luminous flux etc. And then we come to understand that the efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamps are similar to CFLs(compact fluorescent lamp) or HID(high intensity discharge lamp).

  • In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The ring-shaped electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficiency replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, maxwell 3D finite element analysis program(Ansoft) was used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. The electromagnetic emitting properties were presented by 3D simulation software operated at 250 KHz and some specific conditions. The optical characteristics were measured luminance and a temperature and an optical spectrum distribution for 10 min in a one minute interval at the same time. With a goal of finding alternative materials, we show measurement results of electrical characteristics of a ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp as a function of frequency and the number of coil turns using a highly permeable($\mu$$_{r}$(equation omitted) 2,000) Mn-Zn ferrite. These results are compared with those of conventional ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp. It is found that the resistance, inductance and impedance are increased while the quality factor decreases as frequency increases.s.
