Capacitance properties of DLPC LB films with MLS structure fabricated by moving wall type method (Moving wall형 LB법으로 제작된 MLS DLPC LB 박막의 제작과 캐패시턴스 특성)

  • LB layers of L-$\alpha$-DLPC deposited by LB method were deposited onto n-type silicon wafer as Z-type film. Films made up of 8, 16 layers of lipid with long alkyl chain and the thickness of monolayer and multilayers was determined by ellipsometry. It was deposited Ag and Al onto LB layers and silicon wafer for electrode and small electrode exhibit high capacitance and low leakage current. The C-V curves of the MLS capacitor shows very high saturation value of capacitance. And cross-sectional SEM image of MLS capacitor indicated the presence of pore with Al electrode and we found that the Ag is good for electrode metal.

  • In this study, position optimization of insulation rods and suspension rods in discharge electrode frame of electrostatic precipitator(EP) is performed using finite element analysis(FEA). The object of the optimization is to minimize the difference of altitudes in unevenly sagged horizontal structure and to regulate the size of materials within the allowable stress bounds. Uppermost horizontal channel of discharge electrode frame is highly stressed and uniformity of lowest horizontal angle depends on the position of rods. Ten types of frame are analyzed and one recommended model is presented.

  • The influence on a stability of thermal plasma has been investigated in an electrode structure of non-transferred plasma torch. The variations of dynamic characteristic of the arc voltage was analyzed and compared in terms of voltage character and nozzle types for both the step-shaped nozzles and magnetic-approved cylindrical nozzle. From the experimental results, an electrode gap, flow rate of arc gas, and currents are considered as major operational parameters. As conclusion, it was assured that a torch with step-shaped nozzles of magnetic-approved type produce the stable plasma jet.

  • The newly designed Ac-PDP(plasma display panel with comb-type electrode) structure was fabricated by using the screen printing method and the electrical and optical characteristics were measured under the various discharge conditions. The minimum firing voltages measured under pure Ne and Ne+Xe mixture gas with the application of 10 kHz square wave were 190V and 160V, respectively. The firing voltages of the PDP cell with the comb-type electrode were compared with those of the cell with matrix electrode under the same discharge condition. The firing voltage of the PDP cell with comb-type electrode was 15 V lower than that of the PDP cell with conventional matrix electrodes.

  • For the first time, a totally solid state electric double layer capacitor has been fabricated using an alkaline polymer electrolyte and an activated carbon powder as electrode material. The polymer electrolyte serves both as separator as well as electrode binder. The capacitor has a three-layer structure; electrode-electrolyte-electrode. A cyclic voltammetry and constant current discharge have been used for the determination of the electro chemical performance of capacitors.

  • With respect to the electrode structure and the discharge characteristics, the atmospheric pressure plasma sheet of a thin polyimide film is introduced in this study; here, the flexible plasma device of a dielectric-barrier discharge with the ground electrode and the high-voltage electrode formulated on each surface of a polyimide film whose thickness is approximately $100{\mu}m$, that is operated with a sinusoidal voltage at a frequency of 25 kHz and a low voltage from 1 kV to 2 kV is used. The streamer discharge is appeared along the cross-sectional boundary line between two electrodes at the ignition stage, and the plasma is diffused on the dielectric-layer surface over the high-voltage electrode. In the development of a plasma sheet with thin dielectric films, the avoidance of the insulation breakdown and the reduction of the leakage current have a direct influence on the low-voltage operation.

  • The optical characteristics of transparent electrode with various kind of materials and thickness to be used for organic photovoltaic cells were studied by simulation methodology. It demonstrated that the transmittance varies with the kinds of materials, the number of layers and change in the thickness of each layer. In the case of the structure composed of dielectric/Ag/dielectric, optimized transmittance was higher than 90% at 550 nm and the thickness of the Ag layer was ~10nm. Top and bottom dielectric materials can be changed with different refractive index and extinction coefficient. The relation between the optical transmittance of device and transparent electrode with different refractive indices was discussed as well. By processing numerical simulations, an optimized optical transmittance can be obtained by tunning the thickness and materials of transparent electrode.

  • We propose a fabrication process of a 3-electrode type reflective display and ascertain the realized color panel. The first design is proceeded with basis on Ti electrode for fast panel fabrication, easy align process, and high reflection of a white image. To observe the particle movement at the lower electrodes and optimize the space between electrodes, we design the second patterns, from which we establish a fabrication process with the mixing of electronic ink, loading of this ink, electronic ink assembly, driving, and packaging. After aging process, we ascertain a normally driving panel with black, white, and blue color.

  • MLS capacitor with lipid ultra thin films were deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method on the sillicon wafer. The current versus voltage and capacitance versus voltage relationships are depend on the applied voltage, electrode area and electrode materials. LB films deposited were made of L-$\alpha$-DLPC, the 1 layer's thickness of 35$\AA$ was measured by ellipsometer. And MLS capacitor with different electrode materials, the work function of these materials was investigated to increase the leakage current. The result indicated the lower leakage current and very high saturation value of capacitance was reached within 700-800 pF when the two electrode was Ag. And $\varepsilon$$_1$, $\varepsilon$$_2$ versus photon energy showed good film formation.
