Force Control of a Arm of Walking Training Robot

  • This paper presents a force control of a arm of walking training robot. The current gait training apparatus in hospital are ineffective for the difficulty in keeping constant unloading level and constraining patients to walk freely. The proposed walking training robot is designed to unload body weight effectively during walking. The walking training robot consists of unloading manipulator and mobile platform. The manipulator driven with a electro-mechanical linear mechanism unloads body weight in various level. The mobile platform is wheel type, which allows to patients unconstrained walking. Unloading system with electro-mechanical linear mechanism has been developed, which has advantages such as low noise level, light weight, low manufacturing cost and low power consumption.   • The noncontact vibration exciter system using the electro-magnet for a thin plate is studied in this paper. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the equation of motion of thin plate is derived. The main purpose of this experiment is to match the input-frequency and response frequency of thin plate. The test equipment is configured to vibrate on both sides of the thin plate using the electro-magnet. Two frequencies(input frequency and response frequency) in our experiments show very good agreement. This study results will contribute to basic investigate of an alternative air-knife system for the steel industry.

A Researching about Reducing Leakage Current of Polycrystalline Silicon Thin Film Transistors with Bird's Beak Structure (누설전류 감소를 위한 Bird's Beak 공정을 이용한 다결정 실리콘 박막 트랜지스터의 구조 연구)

  • To stabilize the electric characteristic of Silicon Thin Film Transistor, reducing the current leakage is most important issue. To reduce the current leakage, many ideas were suggested. But the increase of mask layer also increased the cost. On this research Bird's Beak process was use to present element. Using Silvaco simulator, it was proven that it was able to reduce current leakage without mask layer. As a result, it was possible to suggest the structure that can reduce the current leakage to 1.39nA without having mask layer increase. Also, I was able to lead the result that electric characteristic (on/off current ratio) was improved compare from conventional structure.

  • In this study, we attempted to harvest energy using water droplet based on Reverse Electro Wetting On Dielectric (REWOD) phenomenon between water droplet and dielectric surface without external bias. REWOD device can be fabricated via simple coating process, which is highly economic and easy. We believe that our system is well-suited for IoT(Internet of Things) embedded electronics that require low but consistent electricity. Moreover, our device can be integrated with window to generate electricity upon raindrops.

  • Electro-Mechanical Actuator installed on aircraft consists of a decelerator which magnifies the torque to rotate an axis connected with aircraft control surface, a control section which controls the motor assembly through receiving orders from cockpit and a motor assembly which rotates the decelerator. EMA controls aircraft attitued, position, landing, takeoff, etc. It is important part of a aircraft. Aircraft maneuvering make vibration of EMA. Vibration may cause the vibration fatigue. For that reason, it is necessary to analyze the system safety. In this paper, first EMA is modeled in finite element method and analyzed the response from input vibration. second EMA is tested and analyzed from modal experimental data. third EMA Fe model is updated and re analyzed. and EMA is verified safety with $3{\sigma}$ stress and S/N curves.

Piezoelectric Properties of Lead-Free $(Na_xK_{0.94-x}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ Ceramics ($(Na_xK_{0.94-x}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ 세라믹스의 압전 및 유전 특성)

  • As a candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials, dense $(Na_xK_{0.94-x}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. Sintering temperature was lowered by adding 1 mol% $Li_2O$ as a sintering aid. The electrical properties of $(Na_xK_{0.94-x}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ ceramics were investigated as a function of Na/K ratio. When the sample sintered at $950^{\circ}C$ for 4 h with the compositions of morphotropic phase boundary, 0.47 < x < 0.51, electro-mechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) were found to reach the highest values of 0.42 and 190 pC/N, respectively. These excellent piezoelectric and electro-mechanical properties indicate that this system is potentially good candidate for lead-free material for a wide range of electro-mechanical transducer applications.

  • Today, hydraulic systems play an important role in modern industry for the reasons that hydraulic actuator systems take many advantages over other technologies with high durability and the ability to produce large forces at high speeds. In recent years, electro-hydraulic actuator systems, which combine electric and hydraulic technology into a compact unit, have been adapted to a wide variety of force, speed and torque requirements. Moreover these systems resolve energy consumption and noise problems characteristic existed in the conventional hydraulic systems. Therefore, these systems have a wide range application fields especially in an excavator. So the purpose of this paper is to demonstrate efficiency of the energy saving and present some control algorithms which apply to electro-hydraulic actuator system in the bucket of the excavator. Experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system with various external loads as in real working conditions.

Finite Element Model based on Strain Tests for Predicting Bending Strength of Small Gears for Aircraft

  • This study proposes a finite element (FE) model for predicting the bending strength of small gears used in electro-mechanical actuators for aircraft. First, a strain gauge was attached to the tooth root of test gear, and the strain was measured. Subsequently, the FE model was applied to calculate the strain of the test gear, and the modeled strain was compared with the experimental strain. The results confirmed that the FE strain was very close to the experimental strain and the FE model was valid. This FE model was extended to the bending strength analysis of several small gear tooth models. The bending strengths of all the tooth models were almost identical to the ISO theoretical bending strength. Finally, the FE model was validated and the reliability of the modeled bending strength was evaluated through the strain measurement experiment.

Large Displacement Polymer Bimorph Actuator for Out-of-Plane Motion

  • A new thermal bimorph actuator for large out-of-plane displacement is designed, fabricated and tested. The deflecting beam is composed of polyimide, heater, and polyvinyl difluorides with tetrafluoroethylene (PVDF-TrFE). The large difference of coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of two polymer layers (polyimide and PVDF-TrFE) can generate a significant deflection with relatively small temperature rise. Compared to the most conventional micro actuators based on MEMS (micro-electro mechanical system) technology, a large displacement, over 1 mm at 20 mW, could be achieved. Additionally, we can achieve response time of 14.6 ms, resonance frequency of 12 Hz, and reliability ability of $10^5$ cycles. The proposed actuator can find applications where a large vertical displacement is needed while maintaining compact overall device size, such as a micro zooming lens, micro mirror, micro valve and optical application.

  • The Probe Card is a test component which is to classify the good semiconductor chips before the packaging. The yield of semiconductor product can be better from analysis of probe test information. Recently the technology of the probe card needs narrow width and large amount of probe tip. In this research, the probe tip based on the MEMS(micro electro mechanical system) technology was designed and fabricated to improve the reliability of the test and to meet 2-dimensional Array of tip. The mechanical and electrical properties of proposed tip were evaluated and it has over 100,000 of repetition times in the condition of 5gf, $20{\mu}m$ Over Drive.
