■ Objectives The purpose of this case report is to show the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on a patient with insomnia occurred after onset of thalamic hemorrhage. ■ Methods A patient with insomnia diagnosed as thalamic hemorrhage was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion. Then we evaluated the improvement with the number of times the patient woke up, PSQI-K(Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-Korean), ISI-K(Insomnia Severity Index-Korean) and KESS(Korean version of Epworth sleepiness scale). ■ Results Decrease in scores of PSQI-K, ISI-K, KESS and the number of times the patients woke up were observed after the TKM treatment. ■ Conclusion This case showed the effect of TKM treatment on poststroke insomnia.

■ Objectives The purpose of this case report is to show the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on a patient with poststroke urinary retention ■ Methods A stroke patient with urinary retention was treated with herbal medication(Paljungsan), acupuncture, electro-acupuncture and moxibustion. To evaluate the effect of TKM on post-stroke urinary retention, we observed voiding pattern and residual urine after voiding. ■ Results Maintenance of regular self voiding and decrease of residual urine after voiding were observed after the TKM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study showed the effect of TKM treatment on Urinary retention of stroke patient.

■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on a patient with tremor. ■ Methods A patient with tremor of one side hand diagnosed with Parkinson's disease was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture(EA), and herbal medical injection. Then we evaluated the improvement by Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS), Parkinson's disease Quality of Life(PDQL) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS). ■ Results Decrease of UPDRS, VAS score and improvement of PDQL score were observed after the TKM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of TKM treatment on tremor due to Parkinson's disease.

■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on a patient with forcible closure of the eyelids due to blepharospasm. ■ Methods A patient with forcible closure of the eyelids diagnosed as blepharospasm was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion. Then we evaluated the improvement with length of eye opening and Blepharospasm Disability Index. ■ Results Increase of length of eye opening and Blepharospasm Disability Index were observed after the TKM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of TKM treatment on forcible closure of the eyelids due to blepharospasm.

■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of moxibustion on a patient with left side paresthesia induced by central post-stroke pain. ■ Methods A patient with left side paresthesia diagnosed with central post-stroke pain was treated with moxibustion, herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture(EA). Then we evaluated the improvement by Mcgill pain score and Questionnaire of BiJeung. ■ Results Decrease of Mcgill pain score, Questionnaire of BiJeung were observed after the moxibustion treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of moxibustion treatment on left side paresthesia due to central post-stroke pain.

■ Objectives The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(KM) on a patient with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. ■ Methods We treated a 58 years old male patien t with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome who had several clinical symptoms such as ocular pain, limitaion of ocular movement and unilateral ptosis. We used herbal medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture(EA), cupping, moxibustion, bee-venom injection. Then we evaluated the improvement by Numerical Rating scale(NRS), Distance of eye opening and ratio of pupil movement. ■ Results We demonstrated the decrease of pain score and improvement of equal ocular movement(EOM) and ptosis after the KM treatment. ■ Conclusion This study proved the effect of KM treatment on Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. It could cooperative treatment would be more effective than mono treatment of western medicine.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is defined as a chronic inflammatory-mediated disease that causes ulceration and inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Among most patients, the course of chronic inflammation repeatedly shows intermittent exacerbations and alternating remissions. However, despite the various therapeutic options to relieve symptoms, such as corticosteroids, TNF-α inhibitors, and antibiotic drugs, there is no known cure for IBD. Nonetheless, previous research has revealed that the autonomic nervous system is involved in the pathophysiology of IBD. In this study, we reviewed clinical trials confirming the therapeutic effect of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) on IBD in vivo. We searched in vivo and human studies on Pubmed using keywords combined with "vagus nerve stimulation", "VNS", and "inflammatory bowel disease". All studies included in this review reported that direct VNS is effective in relieving symptoms of IBD and has no severe adverse effects. The most frequently stimulated site was the unilateral cervical vagus nerve area, and parameters for stimulation were set as 5-20 Hz. Based on the results, we aim to summarize the evidence for the efficacy of VNS on IBD and suggest the possibility of auricular electroacupuncture treatment as a therapeutic option for IBD.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Korean rehabilitation treatement for patients with post-TKR. The medical records of inpatients undergoing Korean rehabilitation treatment after TKR from 2016.01.01. to 2021.12.31. during the admission, were analyzed retrospectively. The effect of treatment was evaluated by using a numeric rating scale(NRS) and range of motion(ROM) of knee. Statistical analysis was done using the IBM SPSS statistics 26 program. If the period of hospitalization was within 7 days or change of NRS and ROM was not recorded properly, the case was excluded. All inpatients received acupuncture treatment, Electro-acupuncture. Soyeom pharmaco-acupuncture were used at a high rate. Blood letting cupping therapy, dry cupping therapy, Interferential Current Therapy(ICT) continuous passive motion(CPM), cryotherapy were used at a high rate. A significant improvement was noted when comparing the NRS and knee ROM results at the time of admission and discharge. Korean medical rehabilitation can be effectively used for patients who have undergone TKR, to relieve pain and enable returning to daily activities. It is expected to be helpful in future studies of post-TKR in Korean Medicine. Also It can be used for medical treatment of post-TKR in Korean Medicine Hospital and clinic. However, further research with a high level of evidence is necessary to support this finding.

■ Objectives The purpose of this case report is to show the effect of korean medicine on a progressive supranuclear palsy patient with gait disturbance and dizziness. ■ Methods A patient with gait disturbance and dizziness diagnosed as progressive supranuclear palsy was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion. The period of admission is 16 days and we evauated the improvements of symptoms by the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS) and Global Assessment(G/A). ■ Results After taking Modified Bosimhwan andbeing treated by acupuncture therapy, improvements of gait disturbance and dizziness are observed. ■ Conclusion This case report proved the effect of Korean medicine on progressive supranuclear palsy.

구강안면 동통중 가장 대표적인 측두하악장애를 치료하는데 있어 전기침 자극요법이 갖는 임상적 치료효과를 평가하기 위하여 측두하악장애 환자군을 환자에 대한 교육 및 온습포를 시행하는 자가치료 환자군, 전기침 자극요법을 시행하는 전기침 자극 환자군, 교합안정장치를 장착하는 구강내 장치장착 환자군, 총 3군으로 구분하였다. 이들 환자군에서 치료전과 치료 1주후 및 1개월 후에 visual analogue scale을 이용한 동통의 정도와 두경부의 근육촉진지수, 하악의 기능이상지수 및 저작근들의 압력통각역치를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 자가치료 환자군의 1주일 치료후 동통정도, 근육촉진지수 및 기능이상지수가 유의하게 감소되었다. 2. 전기침 자극환자군은 1주일 치료후 동통의 정도가 유의하게 감소하였으면 1개월 치료 후 동통의 정도와 근육촉진지수가 유의하게 감소되었다. 3. 구강내 장치장착환자군은 1주일 치료 후 동통의 정도가 유의하게 감소하고 심부교근의 압력통각역치가 유의하게 감소하였고 심부교근의 압력통각역치가 유의하게 증가되었다.
