The first part of the study involved calculating emission factors from electricity production. The second part of the study aimed to analyze perceptions of the concept of carbon dioxide utilization and was conducted through a questionnaire survey with participants from Almaty and Astana. The results showed that there were no significant improvements in the decrease of carbon dioxide emissions between 2017 and 2020. Almost no change occurred in the rate of carbon dioxide emission throughout the course of the four years. According to the results of the survey, a number of respondents had reservations about the feasibility of using carbon dioxide utilization as a solution to tackle climate change. They felt that this technology would only offer a temporary solution to carbon emissions, without addressing the underlying causes of the problem. Despite these concerns, the participants acknowledged that carbon dioxide utilization had certain advantages in promoting sustainability.
Microgrids (MGs) are typically comprised of distributed generators (DGs) including renewable energy sources (RESs), storage devices and controllable loads, which can operate in either interconnected or isolated mode from the main distribution grid. This paper introduces a novel dynamic programming (DP) approach to MG optimization which takes into consideration the coordination of energy supply in terms of heat and electricity. The DP method has been applied successfully to several cases in power system operations. In this paper, a special emphasis is placed on the uncontrollability of RESs, the constraints of DGs, and the application of demand response (DR) programs such as directed load control (DLC), interruptible/curtaillable (I/C) service, and/or demand-side bidding (DSB) in the deregulated market. Finally, in order to illustrate the optimization results, this approach is applied to a couple of examples of MGs in a certain configuration. The results also show the maximum profit that can be achieved.
Although Sri Lanka's current carbon footprint is much less compared to other developing countries, the country's existing and planned economic developments have raised the demand for power, resulting an increased GHG (Greenhouse gas) emission. GHG in Sri Lanka is emitted mostly by the burning of fossil fuels for energy generation including transport. However, the most effective way of reducing GHG emissions from the energy sector is to use renewable energy sources. Solar is in the top list of renewable resources that has much potential to use to meet the demand for electricity generation in the country. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current status of solar power generation and opportunities, barriers for implementing the programs of solar energy in Sri Lanka. Literature reviews mainly used as the primary tool for this study. Sri Lankan government had set the targets for adding 200 MW to the national grid by 2020, and to increase up to 1000 MW by 2025 of solar electricity. To achieve these targets the prevailing barriers have to be considered.
In recent, the importance and necessity of some studies on reliability evaluation of grid comes from the recent black-out accidents occurred in the world. The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. This paper introduces features and operation modes of the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 6.2, a program made in EPRI, for assessing reliability indices of composite power system. The package accesses not only bulk but also buses indices for reliability evaluation of composite powers system. The characteristics of the TRELSS program are illustrated by the case studies using the KEPCO system

In recent, the importance and necessity of some studies on reliability evaluation of grid come from the recent black-out accidents occurred in the world. The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. The various results of many case studies for the IEEE 25buses system using the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 5_1, a program made in EPRI are introduced in this paper. Some sensitivity analysis has been included. This paper suggests that the some important input parameters of the TRELSS can be determined optimally from this sensitivity analysis for high reliability level operation of a system.
This paper describes the mechanism for new investment to appear in waves of boom and bust causing alternative periods of over and under supply of electricity in Korean market. A system dynamics model was developed to describe the dynamic behavior of new investment in Korean market. The simulation results show the boom and bust cycle in the new investments. When the market price is high, investors decide to build new power plants. However, it takes some delay time to complete new power plants. When the new power plants are being added into the grid, the supply increases and the wholesale price begins to decrease. This causes the cancellation of new power plant or delay the construction. This mechanism causes the boom and bust cycle in new investment.
In recent, the Importance and necessity of some studies on reliability evaluation of grid comes from the recent black-out accidents occurred in the world. The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. Accurate probabilistic reliability evaluation depends on assessment of forced outage rate of elements, generators, transmission lines. This paper describes basic theory of relationship between outage rates and reliability evaluation for assessing FOR(forced outage rate) of elements of power system. In case study, FORs assessed and supplied from Canada Electricity Association is introduced and FORs assessed from using actual historical data from 1997 to 2002 for transmission lines of KEPCO system.
