Solar power and desalination plant for copper industry: improvised techniques

  • In India, continuous production of electricity and sweet/potable water from Solar power and desalination plant plays a major role in the industries. Particularly in Copper industry, Solar power adopts Solar field collector combined with thermal storage system and steam Boiler, Turbine & Generator (BTG) for electricity production and desalination plant adopts Reverse osmosis (RO) for sweet/potable water production which cannot be used for long hours of power generation and consistency of energy supply for industrial processes and power generation cannot be ensured. This paper presents an overview of enhanced technology for Solar power and Desalination plant for Copper industry making it continuous production of electricity and sweet/potable water. The conventional technology can be replaced with this proposed technique in the existing and upcoming industries.

신뢰도 및 경제성에 기반한 양수 발전 설비의 예방점검 주기 최적화 연구 (Optimization of Preventative Maintenance Cycle for Equipments of Pumped-Storage Power Plant by Taking into Account Reliability and Economical Efficiency)

  • 최근 심야 전기 수요의 증가로 인해 양수 발전 설비의 이용률이 감소하고 있다. 이러한 이용률 감소는 양수 발전 설비를 운용/정비하는 측면에서 경제성을 향상시킬 필요성을 증가시킨다. 양수 발전 설비의 경제성 향상을 위해서는 예방점검 주기, 특히 분해점검 주기를 연장하여야 한다. 그러나, 무조건적인 연장은 불충분한 정비에 기인하는 예기치 못하는 파손을 발생시킬 수 있기 때문에 수행될 수 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 양수 발전 설비의 특성을 고려하고 기존 신뢰도 연구들을 검토하여 신뢰도와 경제성을 모두 고려하는 예방점검 주기 최적화 방법론을 제안한다. 최종적으로 실제 양수 발전 설비에 제안된 방법론을 국내 양수발전소에 적용하여 연장된 최적화 분해 점검 주기를 도출한다.

투자비회수기간법을 이용한 공공청사 적용 축열식 지열히트펌프 시스템의 경제성 평가 (Economic Estimation of Heat Storage Type Geothermal source Heat Pump System Adopted in Government office Building by a Payback Period Method)

  • Geothermal-energy has been getting popular as a natural energy source for green buildings these days. As a result Geothermal Source Heat Pump System (GSHPs) was being recognized effective alternative systems to conventional heating and cooling systems owing to their higher energy utilization efficiency. But GSHPs has not been popularized thereby the large amount of initial cost of the system and insufficiency of studies for economic estimation. Therefore GSHPs are being developed to make up for the weak points that are the large amount of initial cost of the system and much annual electricity consumption. In this paper, economic estimation was conducted by payback period method and it shows that the pay back period of Heat Storage Type GSHPs was calculated 6.8 years compared with the absorption Chiller-Heater system and 8.2 years compared with the Ice storage-Boiler system. Heat Storage Type GSHPs also has the lower annual source energy consumption than the conventional heating and cooling systems because of using nighttime electricity.

양수발전소의 화재안전 대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Safety Measure of Pumped Storage Power Plant)

  • 양수발전소는 여러 발전소에서 생산되는 전력에너지를 심야시간에 남을 경우 잉여분의 전기를 이용하여 저지대의 물을 양수하여 고지대로 이동하여 필요시 물의 낙차 압력을 이용하여 전기를 재생산하는 발전 설비이다. 전국의 양수발전소는 "전원개발에 의한 특례법 제6조"로 인한 건축물대장에 미 등재로 인하여 건축물이 아닌 구조물로 분류되어 인가와 완공까지 소방행정의 참여가 배제되어 소방시설허가가 필요치 않게 되어 왔다. 따라서 향후 전국에 운영 및 시설 중에 있는 양수발전소에 유사한 화재로 인하여 똑같은 피해가 반복되지 않도록 하기 위하여 "전원 개발에 의한 특례법 제6조"의 적용에 따른 문제점과 시설의 보완 그리고 안전관리의 문제점을 개선하여 유사 피해를 최대한 막고자 한다.

양수발전기의 전략적 시장참여에 대한 해석 모형 연구 (A Study on the Strategic Competition Model of Pumped Storage Plant)

  • This paper addresses the bidding strategies of a pumped-storage hydro plant in an electricity market. Competitive bidding of pumping and generating of a pumped-storage plant is formulated in a game theoretic problem in accordance with the three different ownership of scheduling; Market Operator(MO), generating company(Genco), and combined type of MO and Genco. Optimal conditions for Nash Equilibrium are derived in the form of market prices during the scheduling periods. Simulation results show the different ownership models produce different schedules of pumping and generating, which correspond to the objective of the scheduling owner of a pumped-storage hydro plant.

빙축열 시스템의 제어를 위한 냉방부하 예측 (An Estimation of Cooling Load for Control of Ice Storage System)

  • Ice storage system stores cold energy using ice, which is used for cooling on next day. Ice storage system is the effective cooling system that uses cheep electric energy during a night, and also suppresses the peak load of electricity. In this study, the normalized temperature, relative humidity and specific humidity are analyzed using the weather data for past five years in order to estimate the cooling load for the control of ice storage system. The calculated cooling loads show fairly good agreement with the measured data of model hospital, especially at the outdoor design temperature of $25^{\circ}C$.

천연가스냉방의 경제성 분석 연구 (A Study on Economic Analysis of Natural Gas Cooling)

  • 한반도의 지구 온난화는 세계에서 가장 빠른 속도로 진행되고 있고, 이상기후 현상도 날로 심화되고 있다. 따라서 하절기의 혹서와 동절기의 혹한으로 인한 전력수요가 급증함에 따라 우리나라의 전력 수급상황은 매우 어려운 상황에 있다. 현재 천연가스는 현존하는 화석연료 중 온실가스 배출이 가장 적어서 공급이 확산되고 있다. 천연가스냉방은 전력피크 완화는 물론, 발전소 추가 건설비용의 절감, 천연가스 저장설비의 효율적 운영 및 분산형 전원으로서의 역할수행도 가능한 장점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 전력 부하관리의 대안으로서 천연가스냉방의 경제성을 분석하였다.

Electricity Cost Minimization for Delay-tolerant Basestation Powered by Heterogeneous Energy Source

  • Recently, there are many studies, that considering green wireless cellular networks, have taken the energy consumption of the base station (BS) into consideration. In this work, we first introduce an energy consumption model of multi-mode sharing BS powered by multiple energy sources including renewable energy, local storage and power grid. Then communication load requests of the BS are transformed to energy demand queues, and battery energy level and worst-case delay constraints are considered into the virtual queue to ensure the network QoS when our objective is to minimize the long term electricity cost of BSs. Lyapunov optimization method is applied to work out the optimization objective without knowing the future information of the communication load, real-time electricity market price and renewable energy availability. Finally, linear programming is used, and the corresponding energy efficient scheduling policy is obtained. The performance analysis of our proposed online algorithm based on real-world traces demonstrates that it can greatly reduce one day's electricity cost of individual BS.

Making Utility-Integrated Energy Storage a Used, Useful and Universal Resource

  • Objective signs are everywhere that the stationary energy storage market is growing up quickly. The use of distributed resources such as solar photovoltaics and electric vehicles are expanding at a rapid pace, creating technical challenges for the distribution system that will require energy storage and a new generation of software to address. This paper is intended for distribution utility managers and executives and makes the following points: ${\bullet}$ Utility-integrated (as opposed to merely grid-connected) energy storage projects represent a distinct, new wave of industry growth that is just getting underway and is required to manage distributed energy resources moving forward. ${\bullet}$ Utilities and the energy storage industry have important roles to lower risk in adopting this technology - thereby enabling this wave of growth. ${\circ}$ The industry must focus on engineering energy storage for adoption at scale - including the creation and support of software open standards -both to drive down costs and to limit technology and supplier risk for utilities. ${\circ}$ Utilities need to take a program-based, rather than a project- based, approach to this resource to best balance cost and risk as they procure and implement energy storage. By working together to drive down costs and manage risk, utilities and their suppliers can lay the energy storage foundation for a new, more digital distributed electricity system.

전력생산을 위한 암반내 압축공기저장공동의 안정성분석 (Stability Analysis of Compressed Air Storage Caverns in Rockmass)

  • CAES which is called as a compressed air energy storage was firstly developed at Huntorf, German in 1978. The capacity of that system was 290MW, and it can be treated as a first commercial power plant. CAES has a lot of merits, such as saving the unit price of power generation, averaging the peak demand, improvement of maintenance, enlarging the benefit of dynamic use. According to the literature survey, the unlined rock cavern should be proposed to be a reasonable storing style as a method of compressed air storage in Korea. We decided the hill of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources as CAES site. If we construct the underground spaces in this site, the demand for electricity nearby Taejon should be considered. So we could determine the capacity of the power plant as a 350MW, This capacity needs a underground space of 200,000㎥, and we can conclude 4 parallel tunnels 550m deep from the surface through the numerical studies, Design parameters were achieved from 300m depth boring job and image processing job.
