A Study on the Vibration of an Annular Piezoelectric Motor Stator (압전 모터 스테이터의 진동 해석)

  • This study investigates the free and forced vibration characteristics of an annular piezoelectric motor stator constructed of two piezoelectric material layers and one stainless steel layer. The annular piezoelectric motor stator is subjected to a travelling load produced by piezo drive electrical voltage input to the two piezoelectric layers. The stator is modeled as an annular laminated plate based on the classical plate theory and the governing equations are derived via Hamilton's variational principle. Variation of the free vibration characteristics as a function of several design parameters has been studied and based on this result, the forced vibration responses to the input electricity of various frequencies and magnitudes are investigated. The obtained results will provide an important criterion, a priori, in the design of piezoelectric motors.

  • Since national mid-term target for GHG reduction was determined in 2009, various efforts in transportations have been prepared. Generally, the GHG emission of transportation is calculated using the emission factor published from IPCC guideline(2006). However, it is necessary to develop new emission factors considering the properties of transportation as well as fuel. In Korean railroad, main emission sources are the consumption of diesel and electricity from railcar operation. The GHG emission of electric-powered railcars can be estimated using national electric emission factor, but diesel-powered railcars show different trends. The purpose of this study was to establish the development plans of emission factors for diesel-powered railcars. As a result, the emission factors of diesel-powered railcars were classified into railcar type, engine type and life cycle, notch, load, and traffic volume. In future, several emission factors with this category will be presented quantitatively through field tests with the order of priority.

  • Comprehensive environmental impact of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was evaluated with life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology based on ISO 14040. As environmental impact assessment method, Eco-indicator 95 and Eco-indicator 99 were used. The studied WWTP had a capacity of $100,000m^3/d$, and its life span of civil structure and main machinery was designed to 40 years and 20 years, respectively. As the results, more than 95% of environmental impact was produced by using electricity and chemical use in operation stage. In construction stage, temporary shoring facility was the major reason of environmental load, however, its impact was much less than those by operation utilities.

  • This paper presents the economic impact of consumer participation in Real-Time Pricing (RTP). A computer model was developed to analyze the impact of real-time pricing on the average price, electricity sales, and the social welfare. Four revenue reconciliation alternative were introduced to illustrate the effect of RTP. Finally a case study was done to analyze the consequent impact of the dynamic load profile on the long-term fuel mix, and the results were compared with those of $5^{th}$ national power development plan.

  • Wind turbines have an enormous potential for decentralized electricity generation. In recent years, there has been an increasing worldwide interest in small/medium wind systems. This paper presents the results of power performance testing conducted on a 50 kW turbine located in Yeonggwang test-bed. The turbine system is a pitch, active yaw, variable speed, upwind, three blade with a direct drive PMSG. This thesis covers the operation of variable speed wind turbines with pitch-yaw control. The system considered is controlled to generate maximum energy while minimizing loads. The data include power, wind speed, and direction from meteorological towers, and nacelle anemometer readings and output from turbine. The analysis concentrates on the effect of the load on the power-wind speed curve of the turbine.

  • Recently, electricity consumption has rapidly increased along with economic growth. The operating strategy using emergency generator is aimed, to resolve a demand response management. For strategy of peak shedding using emergency generator, it is essential to introduce the fast transfer switching device. One of the most effective solutions is to use a static transfer switch (STS) based on thyristor. However, the characteristic of natural commutated SCR thyristor should anticipate short duration voltage sag. STS system thus requires more than a quarter cycle to successfully complete transfer process. This paper proposes the operation scheme of the STS system using the forced-commutation technique to mitigate instantaneous voltage sag during peak transfer process. Proposed STS system improved turn-off characteristic thus accomplishes the peak load shedding satisfied power quality. Performance of the proposed STS system is evaluated using electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) to confirm the effectiveness.

  • 전력소비는 꾸준한 증가를 보이고 있지만 연료가격의 증가와 환경 및 사회적 문제로 발전설비를 늘리는 것은 제한적이다. 따라서 발전설비를 추가하지 않고 전력수급의 안정화를 꾀하기 위해 최근 소비자가 전력시장에 참여하는 수요반응이 주목을 받고 있다. 본 논문은 수용가의 전기 사용료 절감 측면에서 수요반응을 분석해 보았다. 먼저 수용가의 부하패턴을 분석하는 기준을 제시하고 그에 따라 현재 우리나라에서 시행하고 있는 대표적인 수요반응인 계시별 요금제(TOU, Time of Use)에 따라 부하 사용패턴을 재조정함으로써 오는 전기 사용료 감소량과 부하율을 계산하였다.

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of ZCS-PFM high frequency series resonant Inverter using IGBT power module for electromagnetic induction eddy current-heated roller in copy and printing machines. The operating principle and unique features of this voltage source half bridge inverter with two additional soft commutation inductor snubber are presented Including the transformer modeling of induction heated rolling drum. This soft switching inverter can achieve stable zero current soft commutation under a discontinuous and continuous resonant load current for a widely specified power regulation processing. The experimental results and computer-aided analysis of this inverter are discussed from a practical point of view.

  • 본 논문에서는 동특성이 매우 느린 용융탄산염 연료전지 (Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell, MCFC) 스택이 계통 사고 시 추가적인 UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) 없이 비상부하로 전력 공급이 가능하고, 사고 제거 후 즉시 정격전력 발전하여 계통으로 주입할 수 있는 비상부하 추종형 백업 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 MCFC 발전 시스템용 비상부하 추종형 백업 시스템은 3상 인버터로 구성된 PCS (Power Conditioning System) 출력단에 3상 PWM 컨버터를 연결한 구조이고, 비상부하 추종 및 부하량 조절이 가능한 추가적인 제어 알고리즘으로 PWM 컨버터를 제어한다. 제안된 비상부하 추종형 백업 시스템의 회로와 제어 알고리즘의 타당성을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증한다.
