  • This paper presents a design methodology of a distribution transformer with condition monitoring sensors and its data processing unit. The proposed distribution transformer includes various type of condition monitoring sensors such as load current/voltage, temperature and heat aging of insulating oil. The data processing unit is installed at the distribution transformer site. It integrates sensed data and transmits these to a central server system. The proposed distribution transformer and its data processing unit will help an on-line condition monitoring system for distribution transformers.

  • The LIMs performance on-line monitoring system is proposed by using LabVIEW software and A/D board. The on-line monitoring system set-up can measure input voltage. current, power, power factor, electromagnetic thrust, and efficiency etc. This paper reports data on LIM performance measured by the proposed on-line monitoring system.

  • An wearable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system is a widely used non-invasive diagnostic tool for ambulatory patient who may be at risk from latent life-threatening cardiac abnormalities. In this paper, we have a portable ECG monitoring system with conductive fiber which was characterized by the small-size and the low power consumption. The system consists of conductive fibers, one-chip microcontroller, ECG preprocessing circuit, and monitoring software to be able to record and analyze in PC. ECG preprocessing circuit is made of pre-amplifier with gain of 10, band-pass filter with bandwidth of 0.5-120Hz and 2.5V offset circuit for A/D conversion. ECG signals obtained by sensor are included with corrupted noises such as a baseline wandering, 60 Hz power noise and interference noise by body movement. For cancellation corrupted noises in signals obtained by conductive fiber, we used the wavelet decomposition of wavelet transforms in MATLAB toolbox.

  • In this paper, we analyzed causes of accidents that recently increased in the illegal and defective LED lamps. They were analyzed by the electrical characteristics calculation and reappearance experiments. The causes of the accidents were analyzed from the circuit affected by the variation of voltage, current and power by harmonics. We drew a conclusion for electrical safety in illegal or degraded LED lamps from the analysis result. The management factors for electrical safety in LED lamps were harmonics, reactive power and power factor. It is possible to secure the electrical safety through monitoring of power factor in failure products and available in smart meters or smart distribution boards.

  • Digital environment that is represented to internet is displacing business way of industry and business achievement way with the fast speed being giving great change on life whole, improve existence business process utilizing internet and Web connection technology, information superhighway to tradition industrialist manufacture and e-transformation's propulsion that wish to maximize productivity and administration efficiency Is spread vigorously. In this paper, we wish to accomplish generation equipment's heighten stability and believability through remote monitoring and control of PV system. This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for sensing the monitoring data and indirect controlling of the PV system. Most of the conventional monitoring system depend on the special hardware and software. Basic design goal of monitoring system is to provide the convenience for the user and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfill its requirements, it was designed using Labview GUI facility based on the Windows 2000 environment of IBM PC compatible and Add-on card based on the TCP/IP protocol. Advantage of the monitoring system are a personnel expenses curtailment effect, free of the place restriction and unmanned system of the generation plants, etc..

  • This paper presents the development of a software supported acquisition system for metrological verification and testing of the equipment for monitoring and analysis of the basic electrical power quality parameters. The described procedure consists of two functionally connected segments. The first segment involves generation of the reference three-phase voltage signals, including the possibility of simulation of the various power quality disturbances, typical for electrical power distribution networks. The second part of this procedure includes the real-time recording of power quality disturbances in three-phase distribution networks. The procedure is functionally supported by the virtual instrumentation concept, including a software application developed in LabVIEW environment and data acquisition boards NI 6713 and NI 9215A. The software support of this system performs graphical presentation of the previously generated and recorded signal waveforms. A number of the control functions and buttons, implemented on the virtual instrument front panels, are provided to adjust the basic signal acquisition, generation and recording parameters.

  • Mechanical imbalances are common mechanical faults in induction motors. Vibration monitoring techniques have been widely used for the diagnosis of mechanical faults in induction motors, but electrical detection methods have been preferred in recent years. For many years, researchers have concentrated on the Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA). This paper examines the effect of mechanical imbalances to induction machine electrical parameters. Instantaneous Power Signature Analysis (IPSA) technique used to detect these faults. In the paper, a full analysis of the proposed technique is presented, and experimental results for healthy and faulty motors have been shown and discussed.

  • A Distribution Automation System (DAS) is operated by monitoring and control of the field statesusing Feeder Remote Terminal Units (FRTUs) installed together withautomatic switches.An optimal placement of automatic switchescan enhanceefficiencyof the operation and restoration, and improve the power supply reliability ofa DAS.This paper proposes an algorithm to decide the optimal placement of automatic switches ina DAS.The proposed algorithm was developed ona DAS witha six sections and three links configuration. The proposed algorithm was provided inaneight-feeder power distribution system.

  • This paper presents a method to analyze the voltage sag data obtained from monitoring systems. In order to establish effective countermeasures against voltage sag problems, an assessment of the system performance with respect to voltage sags is needed. Generally, the average annual sag frequency can be estimated by using the recorded voltage sag events for several years. However, the simple average value can not give the information about the errors of estimation. Such an average estimation is not useful for establishing effective solutions for voltage sag problems. Therefore, this paper proposes an effective method based on the Interval Estimation method. The estimation of voltage sag frequency is performed by using the average frequency and Poisson probability model. The proposed method can give the expected annual sag frequency and upper one-sided bound frequency.
