Effect of Additional Electrical Current on Adhesion Strength between Copper and Polyimide Films (인가 전류가 구리 도금 피막과 폴리이미드 필름의 접합력에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of the additionally applied electrical current on the adhesion strength between electroless Cu and polyimide films was investigated. Peel tests were performed after applying electrical current within the range from 0.1 to 100 mA for the duration from 1 to 30 minutes. Sample with more than 1 mA of additional electrical current for 1 minute showed higher adhesion strength than that without additional electrical current. However, samples with 10 mA of additional electrical current for more than 10 miniutes showed the degradation of adhesion strength. Ra and RMS values of the peeled polyimide surface were proportional to the adhesion strength though there were no significant changes in the morphology of the peeled surfaces with varied amount and time-length of additional electrical current. Applying electrical current could increase the density of chemical bonding, which results in increase of the adhesion strength between copper and polyimide. However, in the case of applying additional electrical current for excessive amount or time, the degradation of the adhesion strength owing to the formation of copper oxide at the interface could occur.

  • Direct torque control (DTC) was originally developed for induction machine drives, and, more recently has been applied to permanent magnet brushless AC (BLAC) drives. In this paper, the performance of DTC controlled brushless DC (BLDC) drives is compared with that of PWM current controlled BLDC drives, both with and without current shaping. Both simulation and experimental results are presented, as well as the analysis of the resulting torque waveforms. It is shown that, in addition to exhibiting a fast torque response, a DTC controlled BLDC drive has a significantly lower low-frequency torque ripple than the PWM current controlled BLDC drive without current shaping, and that it is easier to implement than PWM current control with current shaping.

  • In this paper, characteristic tests for current transformers with maximum mA secondary current of 250 mA is performed. The purpose of this paper is not only to test the mA current transformers by following the IEEE Draft Standard for Current Transformers with Maximum mA Secondary Current of 250mA, but also to take into consideration certain applications in the use of the mA CTs for billing purposes.

  • Parallel three-phase voltage source inverters in a direct connection configuration are widely used to increase system power ratings. A zero-sequence circulating current can be generated according to the switching method; however, the zero-sequence circulating current not only distorts current, but also reduces the system reliability and efficiency. In this paper, a model predictive control scheme is proposed for parallel inverters to drive an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with zero-sequence circulating current suppression. The voltage vector of the parallel inverters is derived to predict and control the torque and stator flux components. In addition, the zero-sequence circulating current is suppressed by designing the cost function without an additional current sensor and high-impedance inductor. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed control scheme.

  • In designing the autotransformer type superconducting fault-current limiter (SFCL), one must consider that the iron core can be saturated for the SFCL to have effective fault-current limiting operation. In this paper, to examine the saturation of the iron core comprising SFCL during the fault period, the linkage flux and the magnetizing current of the SFCL were derived from the electrical equivalent circuit with the nonlinear exciting branch. By analysis on the linkage flux versus the magnetizing current of the autotransformer type SFCL, calculated from the short-circuit tests, the design condition for the suppression of the iron core's saturation was discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a new discrete-time predictive current controller for a PMLSM(permanent magnet linear synchronous motor). The main objectives of the current controllers are that the measured stator current is tracked the command current value accurately and the transient interval is shorten as much as possible, in order to obtain high-performance of ac drive system. The conventional predictive current controller is hard to implement in full digital current controller since a finite calculation time causes a delay between the current sensing time and the time that take to apply the voltage to motor. A new control strategy is the scheme that gets the fast adaptation of transient current change, the fast transient response tracking. Moreover, the simulation results will be verified the improvements of predictive controller and accuracy of the current controller.

  • Several ways for monitoring the soundness of ZnO lightning arresters have been suggested, and all of which are based on the measurement of leakage current since it is well known that the resistive leakage current is a main indicator of arrester deterioration. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm to measure the resistive leakage current, which is quite different from the conventional method that eliminates capacitive current from the total leakage current. The proposed algorithm is based on that the magnitudes of the resistive leakage current are equal at the same applied voltage levels. To confirm the reliability of the algorithm, we fabricated a leakage current detector and designed an analysis program. Experimental results showed that the method does not need a complex circuitry and is useful to analyze the resistive leakage current.

  • Arc Fault Current is an electric discharge which is occurred in two opposite electrode. In this Paper, arc current control algorithm is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which is occurred in the low voltage network. This arc Is one of the main causes of electric fire. Arc fault in electrical network has the characteristics of low current, high impedance and high frequency. Conventional control algorithm does not have the arc current interrupt function. Hence, Control algorithm of arc current is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which has the modified arc characteristics.

  • Over the past few decades, CMOS current comparators have been used in a wide range of applications, including analogue circuits, MVL (multiple-valued logic) circuits, and various electronic products. A current comparator is generally used in an ADC (analog-to-digital) converter of sensors and similar devices, and several techniques and approaches have been implemented to design the current comparator to improve performance. To this end, this paper presents a bibliographical survey of recently-published research on different current comparator topologies for low-power and high-speed applications. Moreover, several aspects of the CMOS current comparator are discussed regarding the design implementation, parameters, and performance comparison in terms of the power dissipation and operational speed. This review will serve as a comparative study and reference for researchers working on CMOS current comparators in low-power and high-speed applications.

Analysis and Design of a Current-fed Two Inductor Bi-directional DC/DC Converter using Resonance for a Wide Voltage Range

  • In this paper, a current-fed two-inductor bi-directional DC/DC converter using resonance (CF-TIBCR) and its design method are proposed. The CF-TIBCR has characteristics of low current ripple and a high current rating because of two separated inductors. Also, it achieves zero voltage switching for all switches and zero current switching for switches of a low voltage stage by using the resonant tank. Besides, a voltage spike problem in conventional current-fed converters is solved without the need for an additional snubber or clamping circuits. As a result, the CF-TIBCR features high step-up and high efficiency. Since the proposed converter has difficulty achieving the soft-switching condition when the converter requires the low voltage transfer ratio, a method that varies the number of resonant cycles is adopted to extend the output voltage range with satisfying the soft-switching condition. The principles of the operation characteristics are presented with a theoretical analysis, and the proposed converter is verified through results of an experiment using a laboratory prototype.
