가스절연개폐장치용 감시시스템 적용에 관한 연구 (A study on the Application of a Monitoring System for Gas Insulaterd Switchgear)

  • ln this paper, it was reported the developed results of the monitoring unit for 72.5kY GIS which it is one part of the monitoring system for the substation that Korea Railway Company is promoting. In order to monitor the operational status of GIS, four parameters were chosen: the number of times of the circuit breaker switching, tightness of the gas-sealed units (circuit breaker / disconnecting switch / earthing switch), the number of times of the lightning arrestor operating and the leakage current of the lighting arrester. We constructed the monitoring system that can be judged the operating condition of the GIS from the signal of the suitable sensor for the purpose. Therefore, it is possible to on line monitoring for the condition of the GlS without efforts of the Periodic inspection.

The Analysis Results of Lightning Overvoltages by EMTP for Lightning Protection Design of 500kV Substations

  • To meet increasing power demand, 500 kV power systems are under consideration in the regions of some Middle Asian countries. As the power system voltage becomes higher, the cost for the power system insulation increases significantly. 500 kV transmission systems will become the basis of a region's power system and they require much higher system reliability. Consequently, by the methods of limiting overvoltages effectively, a reasonable insulation design and coordination must be accomplished. In particular, the Substations must be constructed to be of outdoor type. In order to determine the various factors for the insulation design, the EMTP (Electro-magnetic transient program) is used for the magnification of transient phenomena of the 500 kV systems in the planned network. In this paper, we will explain the calculation results of lightning overvoltages by the EMTP for lightning protection design for the 500 kV substations. To obtain reliable results, the multi-story tower model and EMTP/TACS model are introduced for the simulation of dynamic arc characteristics.

  • Korean power system has some problems like as curtailing investment and the NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) phenomena, because of power demand concentration in downtown area. In this time, superconducting power devices rise as a very attractive solution. This study proposes a basic concept of superconductivity power system with distributed switching station, and identifies the items for technical and economic analysis. The proposed system consists of superconducting cables/ transformers/FCLs(fault current limiters). The basic concept is to replace 154kV conventional cables with 22.9kV superconducting cables and to convert a 154kV substation into 22.9kV distributed switching stations in downtown area.

  • Recently, when electric traction system used DC 1500[Vdc] runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. Therefore this paper proposes that the extra power is regenerated through regeneration inverter to AC utility in result this system obstruct to go beyond regular voltage and improve the efficiency. In addition, electric traction system products harmonic current and voltage distortion and reactive power because power converter is used so regeneration inverter normally runs such as active power filter(APF) for improving power quality.

  • This paper presents a power quality compensation of the autotransformer-fed railway system using Matlab/SimPowerSystem and especially investigates two installation methods of the shunt active power filter (SAPF) along the autotransformer-fed railway systems; one configuration describes the SAPF installed at the substation and the other is the SAPF at the sectioning post. Also, the novel SAPF control algorithms based on the synchronous reference frame are proposed. A comparative study on two SAPF configurations and the corresponding control algorithms is investigated comprehensively through the case study.

  • Urban DC railways have played an important role in urban transportation, and railway operation and energy management have been emphasized to be important to achieve maximum efficiency from existing infrastructure. Fast, accurate DC railway power flow analysis is required to operate a DC railway efficiently, and this paper proposes a novel methodology to analyze the DC railway power network by implementing the participation factor (PF). The PF concept consists of a correlation between the vehicle and the substation, as explained using zones based on the position of the vehicles running on the route. Then, the DC railway powerflow is calculated using the PF concept. Finally, the usability of the proposed method was validated via case studies with actual railway operation data, and we discuss some of the advantages of the suggested methodology.

  • Electric power used in electrical vehicles flows into the substation through the feedback circuit, track circuit. Due to these power conversion equipments in electrical railroads, return current contains harmonics, and it should not affect other communication lines. In this paper, based on the return currents, we measured harmonics and analyzed an influence in railway equipments due to the harmonics. For analysis, we utilize the measured values of return currents measured in track circuits, and predictive values of those compared to the earth methods between the existing electrified sections. Applying the regulations used for Gyeongbu HSL(High Speed Line), the results of measured harmonics have found to be acceptable.

  • In performing lightning and fault studies in GISs, it is of great importance to accurately model the conductor network consisting of the grounding systems and overhead conductor structures. In particular, the overhead grounded pipe enclosures of the GIS should be appropriately modelled. In this paper, the overhead pipe enclosures of a 500 kV $SF_6$ breaker and substation grounding system are presented in detail. During a phase-to-ground fault, scalar potentials and electromagnetic fields are computed at different frequencies for various conductor network configurations is defined by varying the number of conductors used to represent the pipes at different frequencies are obtained. Such knowledge will be very useful in reducing computation time for a transient ground potential rise study which will be performed in the future.

  • This paper presents harmonic evaluation of an IAT(Intra Airport Transit) system in Incheon International Airport. It will be used electric vehicles with 80 kW per car that are produced Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, and one car is constructed with SIV(Static Inverter), VVVF controller and two induction motor. The operated vehicles in the IAT system are rapidly changing DC load and at a feeding substation, 3-phase electric power is transferred to DC 750 V by rectifier. Since, vehicles are also changing continuously, the voltages for the load fluctuate in the IAT system, and moreover, the fluctuating voltages generate high-order har -monies. This means that there is the difficulty in maintaining power quality in KEPCO systems' side. Therefore, the power quality of the IAT system in Incheon International Airport is evaluated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulator in the paper The THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) of voltages and TDD(Total Demand Distortion) of currents, indices are calculated for the IAT system using the results of PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulation.

  • In order to substitute for the conventional measuring system which could bring about technical inconveiences, measuring techniques for the fast transient high voltage upto 100 kV and small signals less than 1 V are developed by use of Laser Source with Packets cell. for the former, capacitive voltage divider was specially designed for reducing the impulse voltage less than the half-wave voltage of pockets cell. For the tatter, interferometer type was employed as a mean to removing the fluctuation of Laser output intensity. And also the main beam through the Pockels cell and the reference beam from the Laser source are seperated before being detected respectively by photo diodes. And then, these two signals are amplified and compared for detecting only the small signals applied across the Pockels cell. Throughout this work, Laser-based measuring system is likely to enable us, at this moment, to detect correctly lightning impulse voltage upto 100 kV and the small signals less than 1 V upto the 2 MHz. Such a system could be employed as a possible diagnostic measuring system at the substation.
