Optimal Design for Passive Magnetic Bearing Using PSO (PSO를 이용한 수동형 자기 베어링의 최적 설계)

  • The existing contact-type bearings using rolling or sliding require continuous maintenance due to abrasion caused by friction and are not suitable for high-speed rotation and slimming. A magnetic bearing without contact can overcome such problems but the performance depends on the allocation of magnets and the structure of bearings. This paper proposes a method designing parameters of a passive magnetic bearing to improve levitation force. The proposed method employs Halbach array as the allocation of magnets, uses particle swam optimization to determine the structure of bearings. The numerical experiment shows that the levitation force is improved by the proposed method compared with the existing one using finite element analysis.

Effects of Cu Wire's Shape on the Plating Property of Sn-Pb Solder for Photovoltaic Ribbons

  • We studied the plating properties of Sn-Pb solder according to the shape of the Cu wire's cross-section for photovoltaic ribbon. The thickness of the Sn-Pb layer largely decreased to 29% on a curved Cu surface, compared to a flat Cu surface. This phenomenon is caused by the geometrical decrease in the contact angle of the liquid Sn-Pb solder and an increase in the surface energy of the solid/vapor on the curved Cu surface. We suggest a new ribbon's design where the Cu wire's cross-section is a semi-ellipse. These semi-ellipse ribbons can decrease the use of Sn-Pb solder to 64% and increase the photovoltaic efficiency, by reducing the contact area between the ribbon and cell, to 84%. We also see an improvement of reflectivity in the curved surface.

  • In this paper, proper length of neutral section and neutral section system configuration is proposed to minimize accidents if ATO urban railway vehicle stops maintaining the leading vehicles in air section at regular intervals. When considering the minimum voltage sensing of power conversion unit in the urban railway vehicle, the effective length of 14,280[mm] with neutral section can be minimized damage due to high current because the urban railway vehicle is very little present chance compare neutral section with pantograph interval installed on a unit vehicle. In addition, uplift of catenary line and contact wire consider to minimize damage. The result of theoretical review, as the proposed neutral section shorter, isolated neutral section is effective than the integrated neutral section.

  • An existent hoist drive system is using each different drive equipment in control of Hoisting, traveling(T/L), traversing(T/S) driving, so there are much energy losses because of excessive weight. Also, power circuits are using relay contact, so working environment are frequent secession accident etc.. by shock on unfavorable condition, and there is danger of safety accident, maintenance has frequent problem and so on. To solve these problem, it is integrated each driving power supply in drive system for hoist control and drive, utility power supply etc.. by single device in this research. The power circuit is consisted of non-contact circuit applying to bidirectional voltage controller circuit using thyristor that is power semiconductor switching device

  • Battery type surgical handpiece is suitable for delicate surgical operating. The conventional air-type handpiece has a mechanical noise, a strong oscillation and a danger of infection. And the conventional contact switching type handpiece has problems that is restricted by surroundings. By reason of this kind, we studied noncontact switching type surgical handpiece to change conventional air type surgical handpiece and contact switching type.

  • In order to analyse the degradation process of epoxy/glass fiber for outdoor condition, FRP laminate was exposed to the wavelength of ultraviolet rays and evaluated by comparing contact angle, surface resistivity, surface potential decay, and ESCA spectrum respectively. As irradiation energy are increased, the surface properties were steeply decreased in the range of 300[nm]. But the measured values within the scope of400[nm]∼440[nm] showed a increase as compared with the untreated ones. Also, fromthe result of ESCA spectrum, it was confirmed plenty of oxygen groups on the spot showing the maximum decrease of surface properties and the existence of ether groups on the surface of coloring phase. We can conclude that the degradation phenomena on the surface of epoxy composites are dominated by the induction of ester and carboxyl groups.

  • We have prepared n-CdS/p-InP hetero- junction solar cells by thermal evaporation. The efficiency under the optium conditions without the grid line contact was 7.3%, and the solar cell having glid line contact with SiO AR coating was the open circuit voltage of 0.71V, the short circuit voltage current density of 15mA/cm$^2$, the fill factor of 0.73, and the efficiency of 11.5%. As result of photoresponse in 400-1000nm wavelength the cutoff of n-CdS/p-InP solar at 500nm results from absorption by the CdS \"window\" and the cutoff at 930 nm result from absorption by the InP.

  • The plating shape in the opening of photoresist becomes gradated shape in the fountain plating system, because bubbles from the wafer surface are difficult to escape from the deep openings, vias. In this paper, the bubble flow from the wafer surface during plating process was studied and we designed the tilted electrode ring to get uniform bump height on all over the wafer and evaluated the film uniformity by SEM and $\alpha-step$. In a-step measurement, film uniformities in the fountain plating system and the tilted electrode ring contact system were $\pm16.6\%,\;\pm4\%$ respectively.

  • Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) have been attracting considerable attention because of their potential use in low-cost, large area, electronic devices such as flexible displays, biochemical sensors, and smart cards. In past several years, gold/pentacene has been frequently used in OTFTs because of the high mobility of pentacene and the high work function of gold. To improve the performance of the OTFTs contact area doping of pentacene with p-doping materials are well known. In this work we demonstrated selectively contact area doping of pentacene with Iodine vapor. For effective doping elevated pentacene layer under the source-drain area was deposited and exposed to Iodine vapor. We got better electrical performance for elevated pentacene structure rather than planer structure with relatively high field-effect mobility.

Improving performance of organic thin film transistor using an injection layer

  • The OTFT performance depends strongly on the interfacial properties between an organic semiconductor and ${\alpha}$ metal electrode. The contact resistance is critical to the current flow in the device. The contact resistance arises mainly from the Schottky barrier formation due to the work function difference between the semiconductor and electrodes. We doped pentacene/source-drain interfaces with $F_4TCNQ$ (2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane), resulting in p-doped region at the SD contacts, in order to solve this problem. We found that the mobility increased and the threshold voltage decreased.
