Pt-RTD and Micro Heater was fabricated by using MgO as medium layer in order to improve adhesion of Pt thin-films to $SiO_2$ layer, MgO layer improved adhesion of Pt thin-films to $SiO_2$ layer without any chemical reactions to Pt thin-films under high annealing temperatures, In the analysis of properties of Pt-RTD, TCR value had 3927 $ppm/^{\circ}C$ and liner in the temperature range of $25-400^{\circ}C$. The temperature of Pt micro-heater had up to $400^{\circ}C$ with 1.5watts of the heating power. In investigating output characteristics of flow sensors output voltages increased as gas flow rate and its conductivity increased due to increase of heat-loss from sensor to external. Output voltage was 82 mV at $N_2$ flow rate of 2000sccm, heating power of 1.2W.

Purpose: Determining the spatial structure of data is important in understanding within-field variability for site-specific crop management. An understanding of the spatial structures present in the data may help illuminate interrelationships that are important in subsequent explanatory analyses, especially when site variables are correlated or are a combined response to multiple causative factors. Methods: In this study, correlation, principal component analysis, and single and nested variogram models were applied to soil electrical conductivity and chemical property data of two fields in central Missouri, USA. Results: Some variables that were highly correlated, or were strongly expressed in the same principal component, exhibited similar spatial ranges when fitted with a single variogram model. However, single variogram results were dependent on the active lag distance used, with short distances (30 m) required to fit short-range variability. Longer active lag distances only revealed long-range spatial components. Nested models generally yielded a better fit than single models for sensor-based conductivity data, where multiple scales of spatial structure were apparent. Gaussian-spherical nested models fit well to the data at both short (30 m) and long (300 m) active lag distances, generally capturing both short-range and long-range spatial components. As soil conductivity relates strongly to profile texture, we hypothesize that the short-range components may relate to the scale of erosion processes, while the long-range components are indicative of the scale of landscape morphology. Conclusion: In this study, we investigated the effect of changing active lag distance on the calculation of the range parameter. Future work investigating scale effects on other variogram parameters, including nugget and sill variances, may lead to better model selection and interpretation. Once this is achieved, separation of nested spatial components by factorial kriging may help to better define the correlations existing between spatial datasets.
Soil texture has an important influence on agriculture such as crop selection, movement of nutrient and water, soil electrical conductivity, and crop growth. Conventionally, soil texture has been determined in the laboratory using pipette and hydrometer methods requiring significant amount of time, labor, and cost. Recently, in-situ soil texture classification systems using optical diffuse reflectometry or mechanical resistance have been reported, especially for precision agriculture that needs more data than conventional agriculture. This paper is a part of overall research to develop an in-situ soil texture classification system using image processing. Issues investigated in this study were effects of sensor travel speed and light source and intensity on image quality. When travel speed of image sensor increased from 0 to 10 mm/s, travel distance and number of pixel were increased to 3.30 mm and 9.4, respectively. This travel distances were not negligible even at a speed of 2 mm/s (i.e., 0.66 mm and 1.4), and image degradation was significant. Tests for effects of illumination intensity showed that 7 to 11 Lux seemed a good condition minimizing shade and reflection. When soil water content increased, illumination intensity should be greater to compensate decrease in brightness. Results of the paper would be useful for construction, test, and application of the sensor.
Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin films have been fabricated by the rf magnetron sputtering technique with a target of a mixture $In_{2}O_{3}$ (90mol%) and $SnO_{2}$ (10mol%). We prepared ITO thin films with substrate temperature 100, 200, 300, 400, $500^{\circ}C$ and post-annealing temperature 300, 400, $500^{\circ}C$. And we analyzed X -ray diffraction patterns, electrical properties, transmission spectra and SEM photographs. As a result, the crystallinity, electrical conductivity and transmittance of ITO thin films were improved with increasing substrate temperature. But, as increasing post-annealing temperature in air, conductivity of the film was decreased. When the ITO thin film was fabricated with substrate temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ and thickness of $3000{\AA}$, its resistivity and transmittance were about $2{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ and 85% or more, respectively.
We have developed a cost effective test socket for ball grid array(BGA) integrated circuit(IC) packages using BeCu metal sheet as a test probe. The BeCu furnishes the best combination of electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. The probe of the test socket was designed with a BeCu cantilever. The cantilever was designed with a length of 450 ${\mu}m$, a width of 200 ${\mu}m$, a thickness of 10 ${\mu}m$, and a pitch of 650 ${\mu}m$ for $11{\times}11$ BGA. The fabrication of the test socket used techniques such as through-silicon-via filling, bonding silicon wafer and BeCu metal sheet with dry film resist(DFR). The test socket is applicable for BGA IC chip.
Thin nickel oxide films formed on uncooled and cooled $SiO_2/Si$ substrates using a radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputter powered by 200 W in a mixed atmosphere of argon and oxygen. Grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy are used for the structural analysis of nickel oxide films. The electrical conductivity required for better bolometric performance is estimated by means of a four-point probe system. Columnar and (200) preferred orientations are discovered in both films regardless of substrate cooling. Electric resistivity, however, is greatly influenced by the substrate cooling. Oxygen partial pressure increase during the nickel oxide deposition leads to a rapid decrease in resistivity, and the resistivity is higher in the cooled nickel oxide samples. Even when small microstructure variations are applied, lower resistivity in favor of low noise performance is acquired in the uncooled samples.

Recently, the pollution of groundwater has become serious. In particular, the contamination of groundwater near livestock farms is becoming increasingly severe and it is difficult to drink with drinking water. In this paper, a groundwater purifier apparatus that can be installed in a community well was designed. The designed groundwater purifier apparatus enables a RO membrane filter and UV sterilization to remove pollutants, such as heavy metals, bacteria, and organic compounds. In addition, electrical conductivity, pressure, and flow sensors were added for remote monitoring. Remote monitoring of the system can determine the level of fouling and contamination of RO membrane filters through pressure and flow sensor data, and can record changes in the contamination and condition of groundwater through the electrical conductivity of the feed water. The designed groundwater purifier apparatus was installed at a farmhouse and remote monitoring. The result after 15 days of operating a groundwater purifier apparatus and analyzing the monitoring data revealed an average permeate water flow rate of 2.67L/min and an average water pressure of 7.09kgf/㎠, indicating that the RO Membrane filtered without fouling and clogging. The average electrical conductivity was 796.6 S/㎠ of the feed water and 55.6 S/㎠ of permeate water, which is similar to that of general tap water. Through this, it was confirmed that no pollutant occurred in the surroundings. Therefore, the designed groundwater purifier apparatus can confirm the replacement time of the RO membrane filter in advance through remote monitoring, and check the pollution state of the groundwater.

National groundwater monitoring stations have been managed throughout the country by Korea Water Resources Corporation (KOWACO) in order to monitor variations in quantity and quality of groundwater resources. A multi-sensor installed in each monitoring station well measures groundwater level, water temperature and electrical conductivity every six hours and the logged data are automatically transmitted to a host computer in KOWACO. Meanwhile despite regular station inspection and replacement of deteriorate or broken devices, abnormal values or outliers often occur due to intrinsic limitations of automatic monitoring and transmission. Thus prompt recognition and measures to these values are essentially required to reduce disturbance and missing period of the data. In this study, time and frequency of outlier occurrence were analyzed for the water level data obtained from national groundwater monitoring stations within the Han river basin in 2000. The analysis results indicated that the most prominent patterns of the outliers were rapid decline for water level, no variation for temperature and steep decline for electrical conductivity. This study provided a sample criterion for determining the outlier for each parameter.
A pulsed ferrite magnetic field generator (FMFG) was designed for the use in the 1000 m long through-the-earth (TTE) communication system for mining disaster situations. To miniaturize the TTE system, a ferrite core having 10,000 of permeability was used for the FMFG. Attenuation of the magnetic field intensity from the FMFG (200-turn and 0.18 m diameter) was calculated to be 89.95 dB at 1000 m depth soil having 0.1 S/m of conductivity. This attenuation was lower than 151.13 dB attenuation of 1 kHz electromagnetic wave at the same conditions. Therefore, the magnetic-field was found to be desirable as a signal carrier source for TTE communications as compared to the electromagnetic wave. The designed FMFG generates the magnetic field intensity of $1{\times}10^{-10}$ Tesla at 1000 m depth. This magnetic field is detectable by compact magnetic sensors such as flux gate or magnetic tunneling junction sensor. Therefore, the miniature FMFG TTE communication system can replace the conventional electromagnetic wave carrier type TTE system and allow reliable signal transmission between rescuer and trapped miners.
A chromel-alumel thermoelectric flow sensor using $Si_3N_4/SiO_2/Si_3N_4$ thermal isolation membrane was fabricated. Temperature coefficient of resistance of thin film Pt-heater was about $0.00397/^{\circ}C$, and Seebeck coefficient of chromel-alumel thermocouple was about $36\;{\mu}V/K$. The sensor showed that thermoelectric voltage decreased as thermal conductivity of gas increased, and $N_2$-flow sensitivity increased as heater voltage increased or the distance between heater and thermocouple decreased. When heater voltage was about 2.5 V, $N_2$-flow sensitivity and thermal response time of the sensor were about $1.5\;mV/sccm^{1/2}$ and 0.18 sec., respectively. Linear range in flow sensitivity of the flow sensor was wider than that of Bi-Sb flow sensor.
