The study on the optimal control of generators on the single operation of electric power system in Gwangyang steel works (광양제철소 전력계통 단독 운전시 발전기 최적제어방안 연구)

  • The electric power system of Kwangyang steel works needs to keep the parallel operation with the system of KOPEC(Korea Electric Power Corporation) for supplying the power with safety. Once it is separated from KOPEC due to an accident, it operates the automatic Mill trip system to prevent huge fluctuating loads from the serious frequency drop. In spite of that, it is recent situations that the continuous growth of electric loads facilitates the frequency drop. Therefore, this paper proposes a model of generator control system so as to quantitatively analyze the response characteristics to the frequency change under the single operation, and also suggests the strategy for minimizing the frequency changes. The simulation results show it is desirable to operate the generators by 3% speed droop and 10% load limiter.

  • Recently Neural Network techniques have widely used in adaptive and learning control schemes for production systems. However, generally it costs a lot of time for learning in the case applied in control system. Furthermore, the physical meaning of neural networks constructed as a result is not obvious. And this method has been used as a learning algorithm to estimate the parameter of a neural network used for identification of the process dynamics of s signal input and signal output system and it was shown that this method offered superior capability over the conventional back propagation algorithm. This controller is designed by using three-layered neural networks. The effectiveness of the proposed Neural Network-based control scheme is investigated through an application for a production control system. This control method can enable a plant to operate smoothy and obviously as the plant condition varies with any unexpected accident. This paper goal estimate input signal about controller using neural networks.

  • During these 2-3 years, there were many big and small power system black-out including america-canada black out(2003.08). It is indicated that cause of accident is not only obsolete equipment but also dispatcher's improper reaction. therefore, it raised its head for the importance of dispatcher training. Korea power exchange(KPX) which is splitted fromKEPCO as part of reconstruction of power industry(2001.04), is in chagre of stable and efficient power system operation. also, KPX created 'dispatcher training team' which is benchmarked from foreign advanced Power corporation. In this paper, it will be introduced KPX's dispacher training program and various training procedure.

  • Biomedical laboratory is full of risks. Risk could be biological, chemical, radioactive, mechanical, physical, fire and electrical. All possible risks need to be identified, evaluated and controlled. A risk management system must be in place to prevent accident or loss of lives and to improve overall workplace safety and productivity. Safety in laboratory is a combination of appropriate risk management system, engineering controls and technical facilities, administrative controls and safety procedures and practices. Laboratory safety culture must be developed so that exposure to hazards for laboratory personnel, community and environment will be minimized or eliminated. In this review, importance of safety in a biomedical laboratory and risk management will be discussed.

  • Protective equipments have a very important protection role in power accident on catenary line. These equipments are installed on electrical pole. The poles have complicated with many bands(moveable bracket, branch wire anchor, shield wire, etc). So we have improved bands and installed bands on pole to test technical condition. The Result has showed effectiveness due to fixed position change of fault protective wire and to improve band shape. For example, reduction of band made cost, simplification of installing, correct position of protective wire and shield wire.

  • Since the Fukushima accident in 2011, the importance of the electrical systems in nuclear power plants (NPPs) has been emphasized. The result has been that NPP regulators are enhancing their monitoring of loss of offsite power (LOOP) events. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) is reviewing the status and issues related to LOOPs, and is attempting to establish specific countermeasures to prevent LOOPs, because they can have severe consequences in the complicated maintenance schedule during an outage. A starting point for preventing LOOPs is the control of the loss of voltage (LOV)-initiating components. In order to reflect this in the risk assessment program, an LOV monitor is being developed for use during plant outages.

  • Position balance control refers to ability that is kept bodily center of gravity under minimum position shake on surface of land. Patients who an injury of brain, a wound of the central nervous system or weakening of leg muscular power is fallen are trend increasing steadily by the car accident body balance function is on an increasing trended. These patients have difficulty in position balance control, receive big restriction walk and life style. This research composed to do body balance function rehabilitation training which elevate leg muscular power using step machine. And expect to become effective rehabilitation training device because measuring bodily pressure center using Force Platform and do so that can confirm training result easily as that is monitor.

  • Recently, the advanced countries are using the corrosion monitoring system in a chemical plant and an oil tank in order to protect the corrosion because it leads to a big accident, pollution of soil. and lose of money Generally. the owners of the facilities adopt CP(Cathodic Protection) systems to protect the corrosion also. However, a CP system for oil tank was not considered in Korea Moreover they didn't adopted a corrosion monitoring system. In this paper, we have been developed not only the remote automatic corrosion monitoring but also the remote corrosion control system using the high efficiency CP rectifier. This results should be used to operate the CP system effectively and economically. And also it will be possible to extend the expectation life of the Oil tanks.

  • One of the most frequent sources of the accident is metal contaminant in GIS. This paper deals with the characteristics of breakdown voltage of metallic particles using electrodes of various epoxy coating thickness. As experimental results, breakdown voltage of the thickly coated electrode is higher than that of thinly coated electrode. It is considered that resistance of the epoxy coating impedes the development of pre-discharges in the gas.

  • The safety of the present railway system has been established through a lot of experience from the railway accident. But nowaday scientific safety assessment methods are exactly required to improve the safety of railway system. In this study, we focused on the methodology of probabilistic risk assessment, which has been developed mainly in the field of nuclear power industry, and considered the process to adopt this method to railway system in order to establish a scientific and comprehensive way of safety assessment.
