In this paper, a regeneration inverter is proposed using 3-level inverter. Electric regeneration means regeneration brake in electric railway vehicles. Induction motors, generally used with railway vehicles, convert the electric energy to the movement energy when vehicle is running. When the vehicle stop, the induction motor convert the movement energy to the electric energy. Usually, this energy is used with another running vehicle in the same section. If there is no vehicle around when the regeneration is occurred, regeneration energy is consumed by heat energy with resistors. The proposed inverter is capable of reuse this regeneration energy in another place.

Recently, due to various environmental problems such as global warming, increases of international oil prices, exhaustion of resource, a paradigm of world automobile market is rapidly changing from conventional vehicles using internal combustion engine to eco-friendly vehicles using electric power such as EV, HEV, PHEV and FCEV. Generally, in order to measure fuel consumption and pollutant emissions of cars, chassis dynamometer tests are performed on various driving cycles before actual driving test. There are many driving cycles for performance evaluation of conventional vehicles. However, there is a lack of researches on driving cycle for EV. In this study, the urban driving cycle for performance evaluation of electric vehicles was developed. This study is composed of two parts. In the part 1, the urban driving cycle 'GUDC-EV(Gwacheon-city Urban Driving Cycle for Electric Vehicles)' was developed by using driving data, which were obtained through actual driving experiment, and statistic analysis with chronological table. In this paper part 2, in order to verify the developed driving cycle GUDC-EV, virtual EV platforms were configured and simulations were performed with actual driving data using In addition, simulation results were compared with existing driving cycles such as FTP-72, NEDC and Japan 10-15.

As interest in eco-friendly and fuel-efficient electric vehicles has increased globally, there has also been a growing interest in the efficiency, vibration, and noise of motors for electric vehicles Electric vehicles generally have significantly lower driving ranges per charge compared to the maximum driving range per fueling of internal combustion engine vehicles. Additionally, there are issues with various vibrations and noise generated by the motor that can cause discomfort for passengers. Therefore, research is necessary to reduce losses, vibration, and noise of the motor to improve the driving range of electric vehicles. IPMSM with a purchased design can obtain additional reluctance torque by utilizing the difference in inductance between the d and q axes. However, due to this reluctance torque, torque ripple occurs larger than other motors. The increase in torque ripple also increases noise and vibration. Since the reluctance torque, which is the main cause of torque ripple, is determined by the shape of the motor components, torque ripple can be reduced through shape optimization. In this paper, a rotor shape for reducing torque ripple and core loss that causes vibration, noise, and efficiency to decrease of IPMSM for electric vehicles was proposed. Optimization design was carried out by changing the shape of the q-axis path of the rotor to reduce the difference in inductance of the d and q-axis of the rotor. Finally, in order to verify the validity of the design variables derived through the optimal design, the original model and the improved model were compared through the FEM. Compared to the original model, the improved model's torque verifying ripple was reduced by about 62% and core loss was reduced by about 29%, the superiority of the improved model.

Recently, the demand for fuel efficient electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) has been growing globally. Due to the increased number of switching devices in the electrified vehicles, the probability of the semiconductor device failure is much higher than in other application areas. A sudden failure in one of the power switches and insufficient power management ability in the systems not only decreases system performance, but also leads to critical safety problems. In this paper, novel switch open circuit fault detection method is proposed, and the proposed approach is verified by experiments.
A potential breakthrough of the electrification of the vehicle fleet will incur a steep rise in the load on the electrical power grid. To avoid huge grid investments, coordinated charging of those vehicles is a must. In this paper, we assess algorithms to schedule charging of plug-in (hybrid) electric vehicles as to minimize the additional peak load they might cause. We first introduce two approaches, one based on a classical optimization approach using quadratic programming, and a second one, market based coordination, which is a multi-agent system that uses bidding on a virtual market to reach an equilibrium price that matches demand and supply. We benchmark these two methods against each other, as well as to a baseline scenario of uncontrolled charging. Our simulation results covering a residential area with 63 households show that controlled charging reduces peak load, load variability, and deviations from the nominal grid voltage.
This study analyzed the electric vehicle recharging station status with recharging time limitation due to long waiting time, and figured out the user status by user interviews. And then this study verified the validity of hypothesis in terms of environmental design perspective and suggested layout of recharging station model. 21 recharging stations in Korea and station operation cases of 7 countries were examined. Except for the USA, the reality of electric vehicle recharging station today is the 1st proving stage focusing on the infrastructure construction of electric vehicle recharging station. It focuses on performance of recharging facility, use efficiency and operation environment of electric vehicle. About the effective waiting time of the user to use it should be studied. The current conditions of recharging station are as follows: Lack of independent recharging space, lack of facility that reduces external effect of recharging space, and lack of lounge for users during the waiting time. These three are essential factors constructing a suggesting model after basic layout, which needs proper measurement on the long recharging time and long waiting time. The essential factors are applied to electric vehicle recharging station layout so that users might use 'digital refresh" i.e. lounge and information contents service during the waiting time which provides convenience of recharging and emotional space with users. Such upgrade recharging station environmental model might resolve the burden of long recharging time which may contribute to the popularization of electric vehicles.

In recent years, small mobile devices called personal mobility or smart mobility have attracted attention. Personal mobility refers to electric-driven personal transportation that can travel at close range and medium distance, including small electric vehicles, electric bicycles, electric motorcycles and electric scooters. Most of the electric scooters used in Korea are mainly imported from China. This is due to the fact that the price competitiveness of major components of electric scooters is owned in China. At this point, the domestic research direction is preferable for the composition and design of the electric scooter body rather than cost reduction for the components. In this study, we propose a new model of portable folding structure that is easy to use for electric scooters, which are personal vehicles using electric energy. We also made a prototype for practical use.

With the recent increase in the introduction of micro-electric vehicles in Korea, interest in micro-electric vehicle user satisfaction is increasing to revitalize related markets. In this paper, a basic study was conducted on the development of public services using micro-electric vehicle based on the constituent factors of user satisfaction. The survey includes: ① 'Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for selecting the priority factors of user satisfaction of micro-electric vehicles', ② 'A survey of micro-electric vehicles image' to collect data in advance for providing users' preferences and transportation services for micro-electric vehicles, ③ In order to investigate the user satisfaction level of users who actually operated micro-electric vehicles, the order of 'user satisfaction survey of micro-electric vehicle drivers' was conducted. In the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis, it was found that users regarded as important in the order of 'user utilization data', 'vehicle movement data', and 'charging service data'. In the micro-electric vehicle image survey, users perceived micro-electric vehicles more positively in terms of "safety", 'durability', 'Ride comfort', 'design', 'MOOE (Maintenance and other operating expense)', and 'environment-friendly' when comparing micro-electric vehicles with electric motorcycles. In the survey on the user satisfaction of micro-electric vehicle drivers, the use of micro-electric vehicle did not directly affect work performance efficiency, and there was an experience of being disadvantaged on the road due to the size of the micro-electric vehicle, and driving in a cluster of micro-electric vehicle for outdoor advertisements. The city's public relations effect was great, but it was concerned about safety. In the future, based on the results of this study, we plan to build a user satisfaction structural equation model, preemptively discover feedback R&D for micro-electric vehicle utilization services in the public field, and actively seek to discover new public mobility support services.
In this paper, we analyze the current research technology trends through the literature reviews of technical outlines of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, domestic and overseas policy trends, etc. After analyzing the literature, we found out while the re-use and recycling of waste batteries and the in-wheel motor systems are essential areas for the development of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the related research is not quite sufficient, so the direction for further research is proposed at the conclusion.
This study analyzes the purchase subsidy for electric light-duty vehicles in terms of environmental benefits and total cost of ownership(TCO). For the environmental benefits, we considered the emissions from the power generation mix and reflected the change in efficiency of electric vehicles according to the temperature distribution. The environmental benefits of driving electric vehicles were estimated to be between KRW 2.2 million and KRW 5.3 million. Also, the TCO of electric vehicles compared to diesel vehicles under the current purchase subsidy was estimated to be about KRW 3.6 million lower for business use and about KRW 6.6 million lower for non-business use. These results imply that it is reasonable to lower the unit price of the purchase subsidy even within the same budget. Moreover, the remaining budget could be better spent on upgrading the charging infrastructure, which would reduce the inconvenience of charging for potential buyers.
