  • The thermal energy from nuclear fission is transferred to the steam generator which is a kind of a large heat exchanger. After the feedwater is injected into the steam generator and absorbs the thermal energy, it is converted into the steam. This steam goes into the turbine. The balance between the generated energy and the consumed energy is required for the nuclear power plant to be stable. For the purpose of which, the feed water, a parameter for energy transfer, should be controlled in stability. Usually, the nuclear power plants are operated in base load in the view of power system for the stability of fission system. Therefore, though there will be almost no unbalance, there can be some instability from unbalance in case of startup/shutdown or disturbance. In this case, the controllability of feedwater pump is very important for the quick recover of stability.

평판형 ER-Valve의 성능실험에 관한 연구 (Study on Performance Test of Plate Type ER-Valves)

  • Hydraulic valve control the pressure and the How of fluid by the hydraulic oil transfered from pump but the ER fluid consists of solid particles of micrometer in size and insulating oil so in the general hydraulic valve. We invented ER-Valve using ER fluid as working fluid. The ER fluid, working fluid of ER-Valve is a functional fluid to represent the feature of fluid according to strength of electric field. In this research we made our own 4 types of plate type ER-Valve which has same surface but different width and length and then we conducted performance test. We measured flow rate and pressure drop of fluid which is flowing in the ER-Valve according to the electric field strength to conduct this test. We modeling ER-Valve relating to ER-Valve system and yield shear stress according to the strength of electric field. We used the pressure drop according to the strength of electric field by differential pressure gauge in the our own made ER-Valve. This test reviewed experimental the special changes of ER-Fluid in the steady flow condition.

  • This paper describes an study electric injection system for diesel engines. It is needed effective fuel injection which controls the solenoid valve of fuel pump. To solve this, this paper proposes DCC-PWM method which can realize fast reply and low holding current for solenoid valve on/off. For the proposed design method, simulation tools of ACSL are used to analyze the system. And the single-chip microcomputer is used to reduce the size of controller and to improve flexibility. And the system's validity can be verified through the experimental results.

  • One of the obstacles for a magnetic bearing to be used in the wide range of industrial applications is the failure modes associated with magnetic bearings, which we don't expect for conventional passive bearings. These failure modes include electric power outage, power amplifier faults, position sensor faults, and the malfunction of controllers. Fault-tolerant magnetic bearing systems have been proposed so that the system can operate in spite of some faults in the system. In this paper, we designed and implemented a fault-tolerant magnetic bearing system for a turbo-molecular vacuum pump. The system can cope with the actuator/amplifier faults as well as the faults in position sensors, which are the two major fault modes in a magnetic bearing system.

  • As new one of superconducting power supplies, we proposed an HTS flux pump utilized a solar energy system. As an eternal electric energy can be converted by the solar system, the solar energy system is promisingly applied as an energy source in the power applications. A solar energy system is comprised of solar panel, photo-voltaic (PV) controller, converter and battery. The HTS flux pump consists of an electromagnet, two thermal heaters and a Bi-2223 magnet. In this paper, we describe the possibility the fusion technology between superconducting power supply and solar energy system. As a fundamental step, the fabrication, structure and experimental results are explained.

  • This article deals with the analysis of a coupling between stationary Maxwell's equations, the transient state Navier-Stokes and thermal equations. The resolution of these equations is obtained by introducing the magnetic vector potential A, the vorticity ${\xi}$, the stream function ${\psi}$ and the temperature T. The flux density, the electromagnetic thrust, the electric power density, the velocity, the pressure and the temperature are graphically visualized. Also, the influence of the frequency is presented.

  • This study suggests a new type shaft generator driven by hydraulic power suitable for small size vessels. Since the shaft generator system is very easy to be affected by disturbances such as speed variation of main engine and load variation of the generator, a robust servo control must be implemented to obtain stable electric power with constant frequency. Thus, in this study two types of controller design method-the reference following optimal control method and robust servo control method-are adopted to the controller design. In the experiment, static and dynamic characteristics of the shaft generator system according to the variation of input frequency setting, the speed variation of the pump and the load variation of the generator are investigated. From the considerations on the computer simulation results and experimental results, it is ascertained that the shaft generator system proposed in this study has good control performances.

Micro Computer를 이용한 자동차용 belt 설계

  • 흔히 자동차용 belt를 단순한 소모품으로 생각하여 대수롭지 않게 여기는 경향이 있으나 belt slip에 의한 동력의 손실은 매우 큰 것이며 특히 자동차용 belt에 있어서 그 중요성은 상당한 것이다. 왜냐하면 crankshaft에서의 중력이 belt를 통해서 water pump나 air compressor등에 전달되며 이때 동력전달이 제대로 안되는 경우에는 engine은 냉각수와 냉각팬에 의해 냉각이 되지 않아서 금방 고은소착 되기 때문이며, 또한 belt를 너무 조이는 경우에는 water pump bearing의 파손 등을 초래하기 때문에 belt의 정확한 길이 계산이 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 belt의 설계계산을 행하는 데는 많은 시간이 걸리며, 간혹 잘못 계산을 하는 경우에는 큰 문제가 발생할 수도 있기 때문에 belt계산의 기본이론식들을 전부 computer program 화하여 시간의 절약과 계산의 오류를 피하고자 한다. Program을 만들기 위해서 사용한 computer는 micro-computer로서 PET (Personal Electric Transactor)2001이며 사용한 언어는 BASIC이다.

  • 최근들어 냉난방시스템의 변화로 인하여 오피스텔, 원룸 등의 신축 및 개보수 공사에 시스템에어컨 등의 시공이 활발해짐에 따라 기계설비공사업을 등록하지 않은 장비제조 또는 판매업체가 시공하는 현상이 많아지고 있다. 이에 따라 대한설비건설협회는 건교부에“시스템에어컨의 설치금액이 1천만원 이상인 경우 기계설비공사업을 등록하지 않은 자가 설치∙시공할 경우 처벌조항”에 대하여 질의한 결과, 건교부가“냉난방 등을 조립∙설치하는 공사는 기계설비공사업의 업무내용에 해당되는 것으로 이를 어길 경우 1년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만원 이하의 벌금에 처한다”는 회신을 보냈다. 시스템에어컨이란 건축물에 냉방 및 난방을 하기 위하여 건물의 냉∙난방 시스템을 건물에 설치하는 공조시스템으로 냉∙난방을 위한 에너지원으로 가스(LNG, LPG)를 사용하는 GHP(Gas Engine Heat Pump)와 전기를 에너지원으로 하는 EHP(Electric Heat Pump) 방식으로 구분된다. 시스템에어컨을 설치하기 위해서는 압축기에 해당하는 실외기를 건물 외부에 설치하고, 여러 가지 타입의 다수의 실내기를 실내에 설치한 후 냉매배관과 응축수 배관을 연결, 시공해야 한다. 따라서 이러한 공사는 건설산업기본법시행령 별표의 1의 기계설비공사업의 업무내용에 포함어 있다. 대한설비건설협회가 질의한 내용과 건교부의 회신 내용은 다음과 같다.

Compact green light sources for laser projection display

  • A compact diode-pumped microchip(DPM) green light source which consist of pump LD, $Nd:YVO_4$, KTP and a built-in thermoelectric element has been fabricated for laser projection display. The volume of the source is as small as $0.7\;cm^3$ and we obtained the output power of 25mW with the average electric power consumption in pump LD of 304mW which correspond to the electrical-to-optical efficiency of 7.8%. Another approach using quasi phase matching(QPM) technique has been attempted. We obtained the output power of 90mW of green beam with 350mW pumping of a $Nd:YVO_4$ laser with 20-kHz rep. rate and 10-ns pulse duration. Detailed characteristics and issues of the DPM and QPM green light sources will be addressed.
