MLCCs are used broadly in electronic industry like smart phone and TV. Although they are fabricated in small size and have high capacitance, there are acoustic noise problems to reduce comfort of user. Acoustic noise results from linear piezoelectricity and nonlinear electrostriction of $BaTiO_3$ in MLCC and there are some researches on MLCC vibration under AC electric field. When only AC electric field without DC bias is applied to MLCC, fundamental frequency response is affected by piezoelectricity and second-harmonic frequency response shows electrostrictive vibration. In this study we get vibration shape of MLCC under AC electric field for each frequency and analysis on the mechanism of MLCC vibration affected by piezoelectricity and electrostriction.

In recent years, the electromagnetic environments are varied with the increase of power consumption and the spread of household electric appliances. Most of the interests to date have concentrated in the area of human health effects associated with exposure to power frequency electric and magnetic fields, and thus the precise measurement and analysis are required. In this paper, the measurements and analysis of the extremely low frequency(ELF) electric and magnetic fields produced by actual 22.9[kV] distribution lines were performed. The experiments have been carried out by lateral profile, and the theoretical analyses were made by use of FIELDS program for the sate of comparison with the experimental data. Electric and magnetic field intensity were strong under power distribution lines, and were inversely proportional to lateral distance. The profiles of electric and magnetic fields were M and ∩ shapes, respectively, and the measured data were good in agreement with the theoretical results. Both the electric and magnetic field intensity were increased with increasing the measurement height.
In this paper, in order to obtain statistical informations on lightning electromagnetic waveforms, electric field waveforms produced by lightning return strokes were measured and analyzed. The electric field measuring system consists of hemisphere antenna 30[cm] in diameter, integrator and data acquisition. system. The frequency bandwidth of the measuring system is 200[Hz] to 1.56[MHz], and the sensitivity is 0.96[mV/V/m]. The mean value of front time of electric field waveforms produced by positive lightning return strokes is 5.87[${\mu}s$], and that of negative is 4.12[${\mu}s$]. The mean values of zero-crossing time for positive or negative electric field waveforms are 35.00 and 26.61[${\mu}s$], respectively. The mean value of percentage dip-depth for positive electric field waveforms is 33.68[%], and that for negative is 28.36[%].
An electron Boltzmann equation is solved numerically to calculate the electron energy distribution functions in plasma discharge which is generated by radio-frequency (RF) and microwave frequency electric field. The maintenance field strengths are determined self-consistently by solving the homogeneous electron Boltzmann equation in the Lorentz approximation expressed by 2nd order differential equation and an additional particle balance equation expressed by integro-differential equation. By using this numerical code, the electron energy distribution functions in argon discharge are calculated in the range from RF to microwave frequency. The influence of frequency of the HF electric field on the electron energy distribution functions and ionization rate are investigated.
To evaluate the biohazard properties of an extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF), we explored the physical properties of the ELF-EMF that generates the electric current induction in the secondary coil from the chamber of a primary solenoid coil. We subsequently explored the biological effects of a strong alternating electromagnetic field (EMF), ranging from 730-960 Gauss, on the mouse testis. Mice were exposed to an alternating EMF field induced by a rectangular electric current at 1, 7, 20, 40, and 80 Hertz, for 1, 3, 5, and 7 hours. The mouse testes were examined for proliferative activity and apoptosis using the in situ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) method and by immunostaining of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), respectively. We found that the electric currentm induction increased in the 6-8 Hertz range, and that exposure to an ELF-EMF induced the apoptosis of mouse spermatocytes. In situ TdT staining was found to be most prominent in 7 Hertz group, and gradually reduced in the 20, 40, and 80 Hertz groups. These data suggest that a strong EMF can induce reproductive cell death within a short time, and the harmful effects of the EMF are maximal at low frequency alternating EMFs.

Cost-effective high precision hybrid elements are presented in a hierarchical form for dynamic analysis of plates. The costs associated with controlling the vibrations of ferromagnetic plates can be minimized by adequate determination of the amount of electric current and magnetic field. In the present study, the effect of magnetic field and electric current on nonlinear vibrations of ferromagnetic plates is investigated. The general form of Lorentz forces and Maxwell's equations have been considered for the first time to present new relationships for electromagnetic interaction forces with ferromagnetic plates. In order to derive the governing nonlinear differential equations, the theory of third-order shear deformations of three-dimensional plates has been applied along with the von Kármán large deformation strain-displacement relations. Afterward, the nonlinear equations are discretized using the Galerkin method, and the effect of various parameters is investigated. According to the results, electric current and magnetic field have different effects on the equivalent stiffness of ferromagnetic plates. As the electric current increases and the magnetic field decreases, the equivalent stiffness of the plate decreases. This is a phenomenon reported here for the first time. Furthermore, the magnetic field has a more significant effect on the steady-state deflection of the plate compared to the electric current. Increasing the magnetic field and electric current by 10-times results in a reduction of about 350% and an increase of 3.8% in the maximum steady-state deflection, respectively. Furthermore, the nonlinear frequency decreases as time passes, and these changes become more intense as the magnetic field increases.
A reflective interference type optical modulator to compose the electric field sensor is proposed, and the performance and characteristics are theoretically analyzed. For the high sensitivity of the sensor, a method to improve the modulation index of the modulator is presented. The electric field sensor using $Ti:LiNbO_3$ waveguide was fabricated and qualitatively investigated the characteristics by measuring the low frequency electric field. Even though the sensor showed very low modulation index of 5%, the electric filed strength of 5 V/cm was measured. The experimental results revealed the utilities of this type electric field sensor.

In order to investigate the effects of an electric field on EHD(Electro-hydrodynamic) nucleate boiling hat transfer characteristics in a nonuniform electric field under saturated pool boiling, the basic study has been performed experimentally. In the present study, the working fluid is R-113 and the plate-wire electrode system is used to generate a steep electric field gradient. Boiling parameters are investigated by using a high speed camera. The electric field distribution around a wire is obtained to understand the effect of an electric field on bubble departure/movement. The experimental results show EHD effects are much more considerable when the applied voltage increases. Bubbles depart away from the heated wire in radial direction. It is confirmed that the mechanisms of EHD nucleate boiling are closely connected with the dynamic behavior of bubbles. The boiling parameters are significantly changed by the electric field strength. With increasing applied voltages, the bubble size decreases and the nucleation site density, bubble velocity and bubble frequency increase.

This paper describes a rotation-type field mill to measure the electric field intensity caused by thunderclouds on the ground level. The field mill developed is consisted of two isolated electrode vanes, a grounded stator and a rotor. To develop a high sensitive field mill, the principles and design rules of a rotation-type field mill are studied. Also, two types of calibration system, such as a cylindrical guard electrodes and a parallel-plate electrodes, are proposed to determine the sensitivity and frequency bandwidth of the field mill. From the calibration experiment, the frequency bandwidth and the sensitivity of the field mill are DC ~ 200 [Hz] and 0.267 [mV/V/m], respectively. Therefore, it can measure the electric field intensity from 73 [V/m] to 18.7 [㎸/m].
This paper dealt with the developed portable electric field meter which consisted of planar-type sensor, analog amplifier with gain controller, A/D convertor, and display unit. The principle of the planar-type sensor for detecting time-varying electric field of extremely low frequency (ELF) bandwidth was described, and a calibration system using cylindrical guard electrodes and parallel-plate electrodes was proposed. From the calibration experiment, the frequency bandwidth and the sensitivity of the developed electric field meter was $17[Hz]{\sim}7[kHz]$, and 4.45[mV/V/m], respectively. Also it can measure the electric field strength up to 10[kV/m], and the measured result was displayed on the liquid crystal display in digit. The electric field meter can be widely applied to measure electric field strength radiated from power lines, computers, and home appliances such as hair dryer, heater, etc.
