아민화 폴리아크로니트릴 유도체 현탁액의 전기유변학적 특성 (Electrorheological Properties of Aminated Polyacrylonitrile Susupension)

  • Aminated polyacrylonitrile as the new organic disperse phases of the anhydrous ER fluid has been synthesized and ER effect of the suspension composed of aminated polyacrylonitrile in silicone oil investigated. The suspension showed a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the suspension exhibited the dependence with a factor equals to 1.6 power on theelectric field. The current density and the conductivity of the of aminated polyacrylonitrile suspension increase with the electric field intensity and moreover the conductivity of the suspension is about 8 order of magnitude higher than that of the silicone oil. On the basis of the the results, aminated polyacrylonitrile suspension showed the ER flow behavior upon application of the electric field due to the polarizability of the branched amine polar group of the aminated polyacrylonitrile particles.

Quench Characteristics of YBCO Film for Current Limiting Using Magnetic Field

  • We studied YBCO films for current limiting of the resistive type which utilizes a transition from superconducting to normal state caused by exceeding critical current. The films were deposited on sapphire substrates and covered by gold top layer. The current limiting element consists of 2 mm wide YBCO stripes connected in series. A serious problem in using YBCO films for current limiting is inhomogeneities caused by imperfect manufacturing. Therefore simultaneous quench is a difficult problem when elements for current limiting are connected in series. So some researchers have recently proposed using magnetic field and heating for simultaneous quench. We have measured extended exec trim field-current density(E-J) characteristics for current limiting elements of YBCO films in applied magnetic field of 0 - 130 mT. And we have investigated quench characteristics in current limiting elements and between elements of YBCO films in applied magnetic field. The result of the experiments show that the presence of applied magnetic fields induces uniform quench distribution fur the stripes in element at $50V_{rms}$, otherwise non-uniform quenches were observed. And simultaneous quenches between elements were investigated at $150V_{rms}$. We suggest that suppressing the critical current by increased fields due to fault current effectively forced the stripes of higher $J_{c}$(0) to quench, resulting in equalizing quench times.s.s.s.

형광등 Positive column에 대한 자장인가 효과 (Magnetic field effect on the positive column of fluorescent lamp)

  • The effects on the characteristics of 20-W fluorescent lamp were studied when applying magnetic field to its positive column. First, when the direction of the magnetic field is axial, i.e., along the lamp, if the magnitude of the field is stronger than the critical field, lamp voltage is increased, lamp current decreased, luminous flux increased, starting voltage decreased, as increasing the applied magnetic field. At the magnetic flux density is 130 gauss, luminous flux is increased to about 6 percents and starting voltage is increased to about 45 percents. Second, when the direction of the magnetic field is transverse to the lamp axis, as increasing the applied magnetic field, lamp voltage is increased, lamp current decreased, luminous flux increased and starting voltage is nearly constant, but the rates of increase or decrease of this case is different from those of the first. At the magnetic flux density is 300 gauss, luminous flux is increased about 45 percents. In both cases, electric power dissipated by lamps is the same as that of the lamp which magnetic field is not applied to.

Characteristics of the Polar Ionosphere Based on the Chatanika and Sondrestrom Incoherent Scatter Radars

  • The climatological characteristics of the polar ionospheric currents obtained from the simultaneous observations of the ionospheric electric field and conductivity are examined. For this purpose, 43 and 109 days of measurements from the Chatanika and Sondrestrom incoherent scatter radars are utilized respectively. The ionospheric current density is compared with the corresponding ground magnetic disturbance. Several interesting characteristics about the polar ionosphere are apparent from this study: (1) The sun determines largely the conductance over the Sondrestrom radar, while the nighttime conductance distribution over the Chatanika radar is significantly affected by auroral precipitation. (2) The regions of the maximum N-S electric field over the Chatanika radar are located approximately at the dawn and dusk sectors, while they tend to shift towards dayside over the Sondrestrom radar. The N-S component over Son-drestrom is slightly stronger than Chatanika. However, the E-W component over Chatanika is negligible compared to that of Sondrestrom. (3) The E-W ionospheric current flows dominantly in the night hemisphere over Chatanika, while it flows in the sunlit hemisphere over Sondrestrom. The N-S current over Chatanika flows prominently in the dawn and dusk sectors, while a strong southward current flows in the prenoon sector over Sondrestrom. (4) The assumption of infinite sheet current approximation is far from realistic, underestimating the current density by a factor of 2 or more. It is particularly serious for the higher latitude region. (5) The correlation between ${\Delta}H\;and\;J_E$ is higher than the one between ${\Delta}D\;and\;J_N$, indicating that field-aligned current affects ${\Delta}D$significantly.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on a grounded dielectric plane according to strip width and spacing, relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers, and incident angles of a electric wave are analyzed by applying the Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method known as a numerical procedure. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip. The resistivity of resistive strips in this paper varies from zeroes at one edge to infinite at the other edge, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials of the order ${\alpha}=0.2,\;{\beta}=-0.2$ as a orthogonal polynomials. The numerical results of the geometrically normalized reflected power in this paper are compared with those for the existing perfectly conducting strip. The numerical results of the normalized reflected power for conductive strips case with zero resistivity in this paper show in good agreement with those of existing papers.

Microwave Electric Field and Magnetic Field Simulations of an ECR Plasma Source for Hyperthermal Neutral Beam Generation

  • A 2.45 GHz electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma source with a belt magnet assembly configuration (BMC) was developed for hyperthermal neutral beam (HNB) generation. A plasma source for high flux HNB generation should be satisfied with the requirements: low pressure operation, high density, and thin plasma. The ECR plasma source with BMC achieved high density at low operation pressure due to electron confinement enhancement caused by high mirror ratio and drifts in toroidal direction. The 2.45 GHz microwave launcher had a circularly bended WR340 waveguide with slits. The microwave E-field profile induced by the microwave launcher was studied in this paper. The E-field profile was a cups field perpendicular to B-filed at ECR zone. The optimized E-field profile and B-field were found for effective ECR heating.

실증시험선로를 이용한 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 이온류 특성 평가 (Ion Effects of HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole Overhead Transmission Line with Metallic Return Conductor Using Full-scale Test Line)

  • 국내에 향후 건설 예정인 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 최적선로 형상을 설계하고 송전선로에서 발생되는 전기환경장해를 검증하기 위해 실증시험장을 구축하여 1년간 전기환경장해 평가시험을 수행하였다. 또한, HVDC Double Bipole 실선로에서 인체의 지표면 전계인지도 평가시험을 통해 HVDC 실규모 실증선로 직하에서 인체가 직류 전계를 감지하는 임계값을 조사하여 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 직류전계 설계기준안의 타당성을 검증하였다. HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 시험선로의 극형상은 전기환경장해와 운영관점에서 동일한 극성을 대각으로 배치하였으며, 국내 가공송전선로의 전기환경장해의 사회적인 수용성을 고려하여 선로에서 코로나방전이 거의 발생되지 않도록 소도체 방식은 6 도체를 선정하였다. 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로 방식인 Cardinal×6B를 적용한 실증시험결과, 선로 도체에서 코로나 방전이 거의 발생되지 않았으며, 따라서 지표면 전계와 이온전류밀도는 모두 국내 가공송전선로 설계 기준값을 만족하였다. 또한 선로직하에서 피조사자들에 대한 전계 인지도 평가결과, 피조사자들의 70%는 23 kV/m에 노출되어도 직류전계를 인지하지 못하는 결과를 나타냈다.

Availability of 2-Dimensional Vector Magnetic Property for High Flux Density Machines

  • The vector magnetic property is defined as the relationship between the magnetic field strength vector H and the magnetic flux density vector B. It is very important for the development of high efficiency and the high-density electric machines. The electrical steel sheet for the machine core shows the remarkable vector behavior by the high magnetic flux density level. In this paper, the magnetic characteristic analysis using E&S2 model is introduced as the useful technology for the design and development.

Optimized doping density and doping profile of pn junction for using high power device

  • 본 논문에서는 dopant density에 의존적인 pn junction의 breakdown 특성을 향상시키기 위하여, doping density와 doping profile에 대하여 분석했다. Doping density와 doping profile은 역방향 junction breakdown voltage를 결정하는 중요한 요소인 공핍영역의 두께와 공핍영역 내에 인가되는 electric field를 결정한다. Uniform doping profile과 Gaussian doping profile을 비교했고, 고전압 환경에서 사용할 수 있는 소자를 제작하는데 더욱 적절한 doping profile과 doping 농도에 대해 기술했다.
