  • The vector magnetic property is defined as the relationship between the magnetic field strength vector H and the magnetic flux density vector B. It is very important for the development of high efficiency and the high-density electric machines. The electrical steel sheet for the machine core shows the remarkable vector behavior by the high magnetic flux density level. In this paper, the magnetic characteristic analysis using E&S2 model is introduced as the useful technology for the design and development.

The electro-magnetic property of magnetic core and design technology for coupler are very important to manufacture an inductive coupler for power transmission line. The magnetic core with superior electro-magnetic property was manufactured by using nano-crystalline alloy and an inductive coupler, which can operate at the maximum 2,000 A current, was designed and manufactured by establishment of current saturation, signal out winding, and electro-magnetic simulation in this study. Communication speed of 14 Mbps in 600 m communication distance of the real electric power transmission line was obtained by using the inductive coupler and application possibility of the inductive coupler for the electric power transmission line was certified.

  • As the results of the study on the effects of mixing time for raw materials to the electric and magnetic properties of Mg-ferrite, the fraction of spinel phase after calcination and the geometry density of sintered Mg-ferrite increased from 30% to 100% and from 2.5g/cc to 4.25g/cc respectively due to mixing-homobenity of raw materials. The AC resistivity of grains decreased and lattice parameter, saturation magnetization increased due to the increase in Fe+2 of sintered body. conclusively the characteristic of powder after calcination had strong influence on the microstructure, electric, and magnetic properties in Mg-ferrite sintered body.

  • This paper deals with finite element characteristic analysis of brushless DC motor according to magnetic property measurement methods. Magnetic property data for non-oriented (NO) electrical steel for electric motors are measured by the Epstein test which is considered as the international standards. Data from Epstein test may result in discrepancy from motor characteristic tests due to innate anisotropic property of NO electrical steel. Finite element analysis were performed for a BLDC motor by various measurement methods such as Epstein test, Ring test and single sheet test (SST), and calculated results were compared with considering anisotropic property conditions.

  • Electro-pneumatic valves are an electro-mechanical device which convert electric signal into pneumatic flow rate or pressure signal. Recently, the development tendency of electro-pneumatic valve is to make the valve with more compact and less electric power consumption style. To make the valve such as a style, the role of solenoid part is very important. This paper is used in the finite-element method for the purpose of evaluating the magnetic property of solenoid and analyze flux distribution of solenoid theoretically. From flux contour line which is obtained by numerical analysis, it verified that the plunger shape and physical property of solenoid part have influence on saturation phenomenon and leakage of magnetic fluxs. This paper made an experiment on the measurement of dynamic response time and force in order to confirm the propety of analytic result, and confirmed a good agreement between analysis results and experiment results.

  • This paper deals with a study to improve the performance of Moving Coil type Linear Oscillatory Actuator (MC-LOA) considering unbalanced magnetic circuit. MC-LOA has an unbalanced magnetic circuit due to its asymmetric structure. In this type of LOA, the airgap flux density tends to have different magnitude along mover's displacement and the current directions. The above property causes eccentric of displacement center and interferes with the proper oscillation of LOA. Therefore, this paper presents two models having the unbalanced magnetic circuit and the other balanced by the saturated core. In order to compare the characteristics between the two models, a characteristic analysis for both the basic model and the improved model is performed by their dynamic analysis composed of kinetic and electric equations and Finite Element Method (FEM). The propriety of the improved model is verified through the experimental results.

  • In this study we use three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations to investigate how the dynamic state of emerging magnetic field is related to the twist of field lines. Emerging magnetic field forms a magnetic structure on the Sun where various kinds of activity such as solar flares, jets, and coronal mass ejections are observed. To understand the physical mechanism for producing such activity, we have to know the dynamic nature of this structure. Since flares are the manifestation of rapidly dissipating electric current in the corona, we also investigate the distribution of current density inside the structure and examine how it depends on the field-line twist. To demonstrate the dynamic structure of emerging magnetic field, we focus on the factors characterizing the geometric property and stratification of emerging magnetic field, such as the curvature of field line and the scale height of field strength. These two factors show that emerging field forms a two-part structure in which the central part is close to a force-free state while the outer marginal part is in a fairly dynamic state where magnetic pressure force is dominant. We discuss how the field-line twist affects the two-part structure and also explain a possible relation between electric current structure and sigmoid observed in a preflare phase.

  • The stainless steel sheathed MgB$_2$ tapes with Cu addition were fabricated by PIT method without heat treatment. The $J_{c}$ value of 5,600 A/ $cm^{2}$and 16,000 A/$cm^{2}$ at 4.2 K and 5 T were obtained for the $MgB_{2}$ tape and 10 vol % of Cu added $MgB_{2}$ tape respectively. The $J_{c}$-B curve shows enhancement in J$_{c}$ under magnetic field, which suggests enhancement in flux pinning property with Cu addition.n.

  • The Different-volume- V-connection transformer is known as an electric power source that can supply 3-phase electric power and single-phase electric power at the same time. Usually, we use two single-phase transformers that have different volumes. In this paper, we propose the use of a 3-phase 5-leg transformer with the different-volume- V-connection. And, we examine the magnetic properties of the 5-leg core model with the different-volume- V-connection. The magnetic properties of cores with the different-volume- V-connection are compared with those with the delta-connection. In order to express the magnetic anisotropy of the core materials and to calculate the iron loss directly, the two-dimensional vector magnetic property is considered with the E&SS modeling in the simulation.
