Improving the Quality of Customer Service of Electrical Power Supply using an Integrated Outage Management System

  • An Integrated Outage Management System (IOMS) is a utility owned, centralized information system. Using the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) methodology, the IOMS integrates different databases and components of outage management systems to improve the quality of service of electrical power to customers. This paper describes the development of an IOMS and its related utility functionality. The design considerations, salient features, component integration, functional aspects, and implementation issues of the IOMS are discussed. Evidence shows that the IOMS implementation would result in improving the overall quality of electric power supply and effective outage management significantly.

  • 전력선 가입자망은 그 잠재적인 활용도가 매우 높아 국내외 전력 회사들의 관심도가 매우 높아지고 있다. 기존의 단순한 전력 공급만을 목적으로 하던 수용가의 전력선을 통신망으로 이용하면 전기 이용은 물론 정보가전기기, 컴퓨터 기기 등의 홈 네트워킹, 홈 오토메이션 및 인터넷 통신이 가능하게 됨으로써 관련 업종의 경쟁력 제고와 전력 사용기기를 최적 제어함으로써 가정의 편리성과 에너지 효율을 극대화 할 수 있다. 또한 전력선망을 보유한 전력회사에서는 원격 수요관리, 검침 및 자동화 기술을 통하여 보다 효율적인 전력 운영과 수용가 이익을 증대화 시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 전력선 통신을 이용하여 원격검침, 수요관리, 고객 관리 및 전력 정보 제공, 심야전력 관리 및 감시 등의 다양한 서비스를 경제적으로 제공하기 위하여 우리나라 실정에 맞는 전력부가 서비스 시스템의 주요 기기들을 설계하고 개발한다.

  • KEPCO has installed Frequency Regulation ESS (FR ESS) of 376 MW since 2015. Frequency Regulation is ancillary service to support stabilizing system frequency, which is divided into governor free and automatic generation control. KEPCO operates FR ESS as governor free application and leads FR ESS market with capability of diverse demonstration and operation experiences. To expand FR ESS role during transient states of power system, KEPCO has extended operating time of charging and discharging. KEPCO has also changed speed droop lower than before to improve contribution on frequency compensation, and acquired much experiences of differentiating bad cells from others. Based on these technologies and know-hows, KEPCO Research Institutes received request of feasibility study and technical cooperation for overseas FR ESS business. This paper suggests the simple and practical method for making technological feasibility study of FR ESS.

  • 화석연료를 이용한 전력생산이 늘어날수록 이산화탄소 배출이 많아져 지구온난화에 영향을 주고 있다. 화석연료의 사용량을 줄이기 위해서는 원자력이나 수력을 이용한 방법이 사용되어 왔으나 환경과 안정성 면에서 풍력이나 태양광과 같은 신재생발전원의 사용을 확대하고 있다. 이와 같은 시도는 기상변동에 민감한 신재생발전원을 대규모로 전력계통과 연계할 경우 계통운영의 불안정성이 커지게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 전력저장장치를 이용해 신재생발전을 증가시키면서 전력계통의 운영서비스를 안정적으로 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Service restoration following a complete or partial collapse starts with reenergizing a transmission line from black-start generators. Voltage problems can arise from Ferranti effect as unloaded transmission line is reenergized. This Paper presents system analyser to develop for verifying the primary restorative transmission system. The algorithm which has been used in the analyser is to handle load pick-up compensating Ferranti effect. and terminal voltage and reactive capability limitation of black-start generators about self-excitation.

  • One of the main jobs of the operators is to make it sure to have a service continuity in a fault situation. This paper proposes a restoration index which indicates the restoration capability of the feeder in case of a fault. A necessary and sufficient condition for a feeder to have 100% restoration of the outage is also described.

  • The insulation condition of stator windings was measured by dissipation factor($tan{\delta}$) test in the six high voltage motors(rated 6.6kV) which had been in service for two years. The ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ of motor D and E was higher than that of the rest motors. The specimens were drawn out from stator windings of the high voltage motor and their were analyzed using scanning electron microscope (SEM). SEM result shows that large voids are present in the interface both turn insulation and groundwall insulation.

  • The reliability performance of distribution networks will be enhanced with the installation of application programs including feeder reconfiguration program for loss minimization and optimization of system capacity. Although the basic functions of remote monitoring and remote control provide no measurable cost benefit the suite of application programs developed and now being commissioned by KEPCO, the future will continue to offer this utility with substantial savings in system operational costs, improve system reliability and customer service.

  • Because the Nuclear power plant needs for the specific high stability and the confidence, it is required that cable shall be flame retardant at fire and endure to be exposed by radiation, chemical fluid, steam and high temperature at sudden accident condition and be maintained its capability on nomal operation up to 40 years as same as it's service life for Nuclear Power Plant. Consequently, In this report, we describe the terms of Environmental Qualification Test for cable and properties required for cable which developed for Nuclear Power Plant.
