The purpose of this paper is to design a curtain control system for centralized management of large curtains, which includes curtain structure, electric curtain controller, communication system, user interface and remote control. Curtain structure is designed to avoid using limit switch. The system is based on microprocessor, determined the stop position and complete running time of electric curtain through time control, and achieved remote control of curtain opening and closing through wired and wireless communication modes. By establishment of a mathematical model to calculate the inertia compensation time of the electric curtain, the electric curtain can be stopped ahead of time, and the curtain can be completely closed by the inertia. The result of test experiment of 32 electric curtain controllers shows the communication success rate reached 100%.
Electric brake booster systems replace conventional pneumatic brake boosters with electric motors and rotary-todisplacement mechanisms including ECU (Electronic Control Unit). Electric booster brake systems require precise target pressure tracking and control robustness because vehicle brake systems operate properly given the large range of loading and temperature, actuator saturation, load-dependent friction. Also for the implement of imbedded control system, the controller should be selected considering the limited memory size and the cycle time problem of real brake ECU. In this study, based on these requirements, a sliding mode controller has been chosen and applied considering both model uncertainty and external disturbance. A mathematical model for the electric booster is derived and simulated. The developed sliding mode controller considering chattering problem has been compared with a conventional cascade PID controller. The effectiveness of the controller is demonstrated in some braking cases.

Electric vehicles (EV) are developing fast during this decade due to drastic issues on the protection of environment and the shortage of energy sources, so new technologies allow the development of electric vehicles (EV) by means of electric motors associated with static converters. The proposed propulsion system consists of two induction motors (IM) that ensure the drive of the two back driving wheels. The electronic differential system ensures the robust control of the vehicle behavior on the road. It also allows controlling, independently, every driving wheel to turn at different speeds in any curve. This paper presents the study of an hybrid Fuzzy-sliding mode control (SMC) strategy for the electric vehicle driving wheels, stability improvement, in which the fuzzy logic system replace the discontinuous control action of the classical SMC law. Our electric vehicle fuzzy-sliding mode control's simulated in Matlab SIMULINK environment, the results obtained present the efficiency of the proposed control with no overshoot, the rising time is perfected with good disturbances rejections comparing with the classical control law.
This paper presents the conceptual design of a cooperative control with Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS). This control enables insufficient reactive power reserve in a power transmission system to be supplemented by surplus reactive power in a power distribution system on the basis of the amount of the needed reactive power reserve calculated by the EMS. This can be achieved, because increased numbers of microgrids with distributed energy resources will be installed in the distribution system. Furthermore, the DMS with smart control strategy by using surplus reactive power in the distribution system of the area has been gradually installed in the system as well. Therefore, a kind of hierarchical voltage control and cooperative control scheme could be considered for the effective use of energy resources. A quantitative index to evaluate the current reactive power reserve of the transmission system is also required. In the paper, the algorithm for the whole cooperative control system, including Area-Q Indicator (AQI) as the index for the current reactive power reserve of a voltage control area, is devised and presented. Finally, the performance of the proposed system is proven by several simulation studies.
This paper describes speed controller of a induction motor for electric vehicles using PLL and Fuzzy logic. The proposed system is combined precise speed control of PLL and robust, fast speed control of Fuzzy logic. The motor speed is adaptively incremented or decremented toward the PLL locking range by the Fuzzy logic using information of sampled speed errors and then is maintained accurately by PLL. The results of experiment show excellence of proposed system and that the proposed system is appropriates to control the speed of induction motor for electric vehicles.
Control strategy and corresponding parameters have significant impacts on the overall technical and economic characteristics of composite energy storage systems (CESS). A better control strategy and optimized control parameters can be used to improve the economic and technical characteristics of CESS, and determine the maximum power and stored energy capacity of CESS. A novel coordinated control strategy is proposed considering the coordination of various energy storage systems in CESS. To describe the degree of coordination, a new index, i.e. state of charge coordinated response margin of supercapacitor energy storage system, is presented. Based on the proposed control strategy and index, an optimization model was formulated to minimize the total equivalent cost in a given period for two purposes. The one is to obtain optimal control parameters of an existing CESS, and the other is to obtain the integrated optimal results of control parameters, maximum power and stored energy capacity for CESS in a given period. Case studies indicate that the developed index, control strategy and optimization model can be extensively applied to optimize the economic and technical characteristics of CESS. In addition, impacts of control parameters are discussed in detail.
A well-performed core power control to track load changes is crucial in pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power stations. It is challenging to keep the core power stable at the desired value within acceptable error bands for the safety demands of the PWR due to the sensitivity of nuclear reactors. In this paper, a state-space model predictive control (MPC) method was applied to the control of the core power. The model for core power control was based on mathematical models of the reactor core, the MPC model, and quadratic programming (QP). The mathematical models of the reactor core were based on neutron dynamic models, thermal hydraulic models, and reactivity models. The MPC model was presented in state-space model form, and QP was introduced for optimization solution under system constraints. Simulations of the proposed state-space MPC control system in PWR were designed for control performance analysis, and the simulation results manifest the effectiveness and the good performance of the proposed control method for core power control.
This paper analyzes a operating characteristic for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of photovoltaic generation system. MPPT methods are used to maximize PV array output power by tracking maximum power point(MPP) continuously. To increase the output efficiency of PV system, it is important to have more efficient MPPT. MPPT algorithm is widely used the control method such as the perturbation and observation(PO) method, incremental conductance(IC) method and constant voltage(CV) method. In case of the radiation is changed, this paper proposes a response characteristic with MPPT control algorithms. Also, it proposes the direct for a novel MPPT control algorithm development through the analyzed data, hereby proves the effectiveness of this paper.
Uninterrupted power supply has become indispensable during the maintenance task of active electric power lines as a result of today's highly information-oriented society and increasing demand of electric utilities. The maintenance task has the risk of electric shock and the danger of falling from high place. Therefore it is necessary to realize an autonomous robot system using electro-hydraulic manipulator because hydraulic manipulators have the advantage of electric insulation. Meanwhile it is relatively difficult to realize autonomous assembly tasks particularly in the case of manipulating flexible objects such as electric lines. In this report, a discrete event control system is introduced for automatic assembly task of electric lines into sleeves as one of the typical task of active electric power lines. In the implementation of a discrete event control system, LVQNN (linear vector quantization neural network) is applied to the insertion task of electric lines to sleeves. In order to apply these proposed control system to the unknown environment, virtual learning data for LVQNN is generated by fuzzy inference. By the experimental results of two types of electric lines and sleeves, these proposed discrete event control and neural network learning algorithm are confirmed very effective to the insertion tasks of electric lines to sleeves as a typical task of active electric power maintenance tasks.

This paper describes a control scheme of speed sensorless fuzzy direct torque control (FDTC) of permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric vehicle (EV). Electric vehicle requires fast torque response and high efficiency of the drive. Speed sensorless FDTC In-wheel PMSM drives without mechanical speed sensors at the motor shaft have the attractions of low cost, quick response and high reliability in electric vehicle application. This paper presents a new approach to estimate the speed of in-wheel electrical vehicles based on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). The direct torque control suffers in low speeds due to the effect of changes in stator resistance on the flux measurements. To improve the system performance at low speeds, a PI-fuzzy resistance estimator is proposed to eliminate the error due to changes in stator resistance. High performance sensorless drive of the in-wheel motor based on MRAS with on line stator resistance tuning is established for four motorized wheels electric vehicle and the whole system is simulated by matalb/simulink. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the new control strategy. This proposed control strategy is extensively used in electric vehicle application.
