Real-time Temporal Characterization and Performance Optimization of a kHz Femtosecond Ti:Sapphire Laser Using a Comprehensive SPIDER

  • A comprehensive real-time spectral phase interferometry for direct electric field reconstruction (SPIDER) apparatus for characterizing femtosecond laser pulses is demonstrated. The SPIDER provides the temporal profiles of femtosecond laser pulses, reconstructed at the speed of 3.5 Hz, with parameters of the spectral phase such as group delay dispersion and third-order dispersion. The apparatus is applied successfully to optimize the spectral dispersion of a kHz femtosecond Ti:Sapphire laser by adjusting a grating compressor in real time.

Micro Computer를 이용한 자동차용 belt 설계

  • 흔히 자동차용 belt를 단순한 소모품으로 생각하여 대수롭지 않게 여기는 경향이 있으나 belt slip에 의한 동력의 손실은 매우 큰 것이며 특히 자동차용 belt에 있어서 그 중요성은 상당한 것이다. 왜냐하면 crankshaft에서의 중력이 belt를 통해서 water pump나 air compressor등에 전달되며 이때 동력전달이 제대로 안되는 경우에는 engine은 냉각수와 냉각팬에 의해 냉각이 되지 않아서 금방 고은소착 되기 때문이며, 또한 belt를 너무 조이는 경우에는 water pump bearing의 파손 등을 초래하기 때문에 belt의 정확한 길이 계산이 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 belt의 설계계산을 행하는 데는 많은 시간이 걸리며, 간혹 잘못 계산을 하는 경우에는 큰 문제가 발생할 수도 있기 때문에 belt계산의 기본이론식들을 전부 computer program 화하여 시간의 절약과 계산의 오류를 피하고자 한다. Program을 만들기 위해서 사용한 computer는 micro-computer로서 PET (Personal Electric Transactor)2001이며 사용한 언어는 BASIC이다.

  • Synchronous reluctance motors(SynRM) for the application such as an electric vehicle, compressor drives of air conditioner and machine tool spindle drives require a wide field-weakening speed range. In order to improve the efficiency performance in such applications, this paper has examined the loss and the efficiency characteristics of SynRM mainly in the field-weakening speed region over the base speed. The control strategy in order to offer a efficiency optimization operation is shown and the copper and iron losses driven the equivalent circuit model of the machine is minimized. The usefulness of the proposed efficiency optimization control is verified through the SynRM durve system.

Conceptual design of cryogenic turbo expander for 10 kW class reverse Brayton refrigerator

  • Recently, the development of the HTS power cable is actively promoted. As the length of HTS power cable increases, there have been many efforts to develop large capacity cryocooler. Among the various cryocooler, the Brayton refrigerator is the most competitive for HTS power cable. The Brayton refrigerator is composed of recuperative heat exchangers, a compressor, and a cryogenic turbo expander. In these components, the cryogenic turbo expander is a part to decrease the temperature and it is the most significant component that is closely related with overall system efficiency. It rotates with high speed using a high-pressure helium or neon gas at cryogenic temperature. This paper describes the design of a 10 kW class Brayton refrigeration cycle and the cryogenic turbo expander. Flow and structural analysis are performed for the rotating impeller and nozzle to verify the efficiency and the design performance.

바이오 가스를 사용하는 가스터빈 열병합 시스템의 전부하 및 부분부하 운전특성 해석 (A Study on Full and Part Load Operations of a Biogas-fired Gas Turbine Combined Heat and Power System)

  • This study analyzed the influence of firing biogas on the performance and operation of a gas turbine combined heat and power (CHP) system. A reference CHP system designed with natural gas fuel was set up and off-design simulation was made to investigate the impact of firing biogas in the system. Changes in critical operating parameters such as compressor surge margin and turbine blade temperature caused by firing biogas were examined, and a couple of operating schemes to mitigate their changes were simulated. Part load operation of the biogas-fired system was compared with that of natural-gas fired system, and it was found that as long as the two system produce the same electric power output, they exhibit nearly the same heat recovery.

  • Thermodynamic performance analysis has been carried out for a hybrid electric power generation system combining a gas turbine and a solid oxide fuel cell and operating at over-atmospheric pressure. Performance characteristics with respect to main design parameters such as maximum temperature and pressure ratio are examined in detail. Effects of other important design parameters are investigated including fuel cell internal parameters such as fuel utilization factor, steam/carbon ratio and current density, and system parameters such as recuperator efficiency and compressor inlet temperature.

  • IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is widely used in many applications such as an electric vehicle, compressor drives of air conditioner and machine tool spindle drives. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper is proposed the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail by simulation.

증기 압축식 냉동기의 비가역성 분석 (Analysis of the Irreversibilities of a Vapor Compression Type Refrigerator)

  • The present paper investigated irreversibilities and energy flow of a vapor compression refrigerator. The entropy generation and the available energy dissipation in components of the system were analyzed by using experimental data. It was shown that the dissipated available energy in the compressor including electric motor was much more than those in other components. The effects of the pressure drop and heat loss on irreversibilities in the condenser and the evaporator were small in comparison with heat transfer.

  • 장모음 음성인식을 전자회로로 수행하였다. 레벨 압축은 음성 파형을 직렬 펄스로 변화시킬 수 있었다 이 펄스들로 모음을 구별하는 정보가 된다. 펄스의 샘풀링은 한 단위로 모음의 피치 직렬신호를 얻어지는 레지스터 에 의해서 이루어진다. 샘풀링 펄스에 의한 시간제어 펄스는 음성파형의 첩두치 펄스에 의해 발진되어 진다. 이 레지스터에 있는 병렬 데이터는 만약 OO이면 OO이다는 규칙으로 이루처지는 의지결정 회로의 뜻에 따라 음성 심볼이 인식되어진다.

  • In this study, comparison study has been performed between two-stage compression and a vapor-recompression refrigeration cycle and a liquefaction using LNG cold heat. When using a first method using two-stage compression and a refrigeration cycle, at least three compressors are required, however when using LNG cold heat, no compressor is required since carbon dioxide can be pumped after condensing with the heat exchange with -160℃ of LNG. Through this study, we can save more than one hundred million KRW annually by using LNG cold heat instead of using gas compression and refrigeration cycle.
