  • Monitoring system is an absolutely-required system for assessing a performance and fatigue load of the wind turbine in an on-shore wind energy experimental research complex. It was implemented for the purpose of monitoring the wind information measured from a meteorological tower at the monitoring house, and of utilizing the measured data(fatigue data and electric analyzing data of wind turbine)for the performance assessment, by using the LabVIEW program. Then, by adding the performance assessment-related data acquired from the wind turbine during the performance assessment and the data recorder for synchronizing the data of meteorological tower, the system(BusDAQ) was implemented. Because it transmitted the data by converting the output 'RS-232' of data logger which measures the wind condition into CAN protocol, the data error rate was minimized. Also, This paper is introduced to make the best use of the developed monitoring system and to explain about construct of the system and detailed data communication of its system.

  • High technique growth of modem times and high industrial facility in consequence of buildings demand for electric power of an extensive scale with stability supply and maintenance of high quality. But, power system always have risk of network contingency. When power system break out disturbance, it circumstantially happen like uncontrolled loss of load developing from of cascading. Severely which would be raised wide area blackout, plan to prevent, which make stability through a little of load shedding and multi-level UnderVoltageLoadShdding should work. This paper presents target, sensitivity of bus voltage have choose appropriating load shedding location and load shedding decision making logic with considering rate of change of voltage have studied multi-level under voltage load shedding scheme. Calculation of rate of change of voltage applied method of least square. As a result, we are studied an dynamic analysis of 2008 summer peak data. We have been known that network analysis is a little development and developing UnderVoltageLoadShedding scheme.

  • In this paper, a novel and robust Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is proposed as an effective approach to improve stability in electric power systems. The dynamic performance of proposed PSS has been thoroughly compared with Conventional PSS (CPSS). Both the Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) techniques are applied to optimum tune the parameter of both the proposed PSS and CPSS in order to damp-out power system oscillations. Due to the high sufficiency of both the RCGA and PSO techniques to solve the very non-linear objective, they have been employed for solution of the optimization problem. In order to verify the dynamic performance of these devices, different conditions of disturbance are taken into account in Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) power system. Moreover, to ensure the robustness of proposed PSS in damping the power system multi-mode oscillations, a Multi Machine (MM) power system under various disturbances are considered as a test system. The results of nonlinear simulation strongly suggest that the proposed PSS significantly enhances the power system dynamic stability in both of the SMIB and MM power system as compared to CPSS.

  • A study of vehicle weight lightening has been progressed to reduce the fuel consumption. In this paper, the body floor in an EV (Electric Vehicle) bus has been applied by composites as CFRP and GFRP. In order to analyse a various reliability and safety, an experiment and FEM analysis was carried out to obtain weight lightening. Especially, the joint. An effective design is obtained through an experiment as well as FEM analysis. Results of stress analysis of GFRP material showed twice as much displacement than those of CFRP material. Among three kinds of joint methods, the bond joint method is occurred to a substantial shape change in the body and floor. It is found that the rivet joints are fairly suitable for stress sustaining capability.

  • This paper describes a new ultra-fast contingency screening algorithm for on-line TSA without time simulation. All machines are represented in a classical model and the stability index is defined as the ratio between acceleration power during a fault and deceleration power after clearing the fault. Critical clustering of machines is done based on the stability index, and the power-angle curve of the critical machines is drawn assuming that the angles of the critical machines increase uniformly, while those of the non-critical ones remain constant. Finally, the critical clearing time (CCT) is computed using the power-angle curve. The proposed algorithm is tested on the KEPCO system comprised of 900-bus and 230-machines. The CCT values computed with the screening algorithm are in good agreement with those computed using the detailed model and the SIME method. The computation time for screening about 270 contingencies is 17 seconds with 1.2 GHz PC.

  • An energy management method of DC microgrids using voltage compensation term is proposed in this study. Droop control is often implemented to operate the DC microgrid. However, the droop control necessarily generates voltage variation. Energy flow is also difficult to control because the droop control mainly focuses on proportional load sharing. To solve these problems, the voltage compensation term based on the low-bandwidth communication is used to determine the operating band of the converter. Energy management and voltage variation minimization can be achieved by judging the operating band according to the magnitude of voltage compensation term. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiments.

  • This paper introduces a real-time load flow program for Korean energy management system(EMS). This study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, we propose the model of the real-time database and power system equipment for the real-time load flow. These models are extracted from the needs of load flow functions and are designed to the application common information. Second, several techniques are applied for the efficient convergence and computational speed. The generation/load mismatch is redistributed using generator participation factors which are separated to the reference bus. For the voltage control, the jacobian matrix is composed with the basic Y matrix elements and the voltage control elements. Through the optimally ordering, jacobian row and column for a column is changed. However all jacobian matrix entries have same order with the Y matrix. The proposed program is tested using the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) system. Through the test, we verified that the proposed program can be effectively used to accomplish the Korean EMS system.

  • This paper proposes a new method for monitoring local voltage stability using the saddle node bifurcation set or loadability boundary in two dimensional power parameter space. The method includes three main steps. First step is to determine the critical buses and the second step is building the static voltage stability boundary or the saddle node bifurcation set. Final step is monitoring the voltage stability through the distance from current operating point to the boundary. Critical buses are defined through the right eigenvector by direct method. The boundary of the static voltage stability region is a quadratic curve that can be obtained by the proposed method that is combining a variation of standard direct method and Thevenin equivalent model of electric power system. And finally the distance is computed through the Euclid norm of normal vector of the boundary at the closest saddle node bifurcation point. The advantage of the proposed method is that it gets the advantages of both methods, the accuracy of the direct method and simple of Thevenin Equivalent model. Thus, the proposed method holds some promises in terms of performing the real-time voltage stability monitoring of power system. Test results of New England 39 bus system are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The inconsistencies between paralleled battery cells are becoming more considerable issue in high capacity battery applications like electric vehicles. Due to differences in state-of-charge (SOC) and internal resistance within individual cells in parallel, charging or discharging current is not appropriately balanced to each cell in terms of SOC, which may shorten the lifetime or sometimes cause safety issues. In this paper, an intelligent cell-balancing algorithm is proposed to overcome the inconsistency issue especially for paralleled battery cells. In this scheme, SOC information collected in the sub-BMS module is sent to the main-BMS module, where the number of parallel cells to be connected to DC bus is continuously updated based on the suggested SOC comparison rule. To verify the method, operation of the algorithm on 4 paralleled battery cells are simulated on Matlab/Simulink. The simulation result shows that the SOCs of paralleled cells are evenly redistributed. It is expected that the proposed algorithm provides high reliable and prolong the life cycle and working capacity of the battery pack.
