In this Paper, we propose a method of determining the price for the elastic traffic in the current or future Internet services. First, we investigate the behavior in the consumption of bandwidth of elastic traffic in IP network. Next, we propose a new method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially or fully on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. Next, we propose an optimal charging function for elastic traffic, which is applicable to any Internet services. Finally, we will illustrate the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.

In this paper, the authors propose methods for determining the differentiated price for elastic traffic in IP (Internet Protocol) network. First, we investigate the behavior in the consumption of bandwidth of elastic traffic in IP network. Next, we propose a method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially or fully on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. After that, we propose a charging function for elastic traffic, which is based on the de facto usage of the bandwidth. Finally, we will illustrate the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.

In wireless networks, maximizing throughput and minimizing energy consumption are two conflicting objectives. For elastic traffic, it is important to enhance the throughput since it directly affects the quality-of-service(QoS) of users. At the same time, the energy consumption should be minimized in order to prolong the battery lifetime of the mobile station. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient sleep scheme that considers throughput and energy saving simultaneously. The proposed scheme is designed for an efficient tradeoff between throughput and energy saving when receiving elastic traffic. Through extensive simulations, we compare the proposed scheme with the conventional scheme. Our proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one in terms of utility, i.e., user satisfaction, which is defined as inversely proportional to the weighted multiplication of service completion time and energy consumption.
The study of rigid roadway pavement under dynamic traffic loads with variable velocity is investigated in this paper. Rigid roadway pavement is modeled as a rectangular damped orthotropic plate supported by elastic Pasternak foundation. The boundary supports of the plate are the steel dowels and tie bars which provide elastic vertical support and rotational restraint. The natural frequencies of the system and the mode shapes are solved using two transcendental equations, obtained from the solution of two auxiliary Levy's type problems, known as the Modified Bolotin Method. The dynamic moving traffic load is expressed as a concentrated load of harmonically varying magnitude, moving straight along the plate with a variable velocity. The dynamic response of the plate is obtained on the basis of orthogonality properties of eigenfunctions. Numerical example results show that the velocity and the angular frequency of the loads affected the maximum dynamic deflection of the rigid roadway pavement. It is also shown that a critical speed of the load exists. If the moving traffic load travels at critical speed, the rectangular plate becomes infinite in amplitude.
The objective of this study is to investigate the dynamic behavior of elastic beams subjected to moving loads. Although analytical methods are available, they have limitations with respect to complicated structures. The use of computer technology in recent years is an effective way to solve the problem; thus using the latest technology this study establishes a finite-element solution procedure to investigate dynamic behaviors of a typical elastic beam having a set of constant geometric properties and various span lengths. Both the dead load of the beam and traffic load are applied in which the traffic load is considered a concentrated moving force with various traveling passage speeds on the beam. Dynamic behaviors including deflection, shear, and bending moment due to moving loads are obtained by both analytical and finite element methods; for simple structures, they have an excellent agreement. The numerical results show that based on analytical methods the fundamental mode is good enough to estimate the dynamic deflection along the beam, but is not sufficient to simulate the total response of the shear force or the bending moment. The linear dynamic behavior of the elastic beams subjected to multiple exciting loads can easily be found by linear superposition, and the geometric nonlinear results caused by large deformation and axial force of the beam are always underestimated with only a few exceptions which are indicated. In order to make the results useful, they have been nondimensionalized and presented in graphical form.

In recent decades, the heterogeneous and dynamic behavior of Internet traffic has placed new demands on the adaptive resource allocation of the optical network infrastructure. However, the advent of multifiber elastic optical networks has led to a higher degree of spectrum fragmentation than conventional flexible grid networks due to the dynamic and random establishment and removal of optical connections. In this paper, we propose heuristic routing and dynamic slot allocation algorithms to minimize spectrum fragmentation and reduce the probability of blocking future connection requests by considering the power consumption in elastic multifiber elastic optical networks.
Objective: This study aims to recognize the risk of current traffic systems and to investigate a method to decrease risk by doing exercise using an elastic-band and cognitive rehabilitation. Background: The existing traffic system usually focuses on the ordinary citizens, which may not be appropriate to the elderly. It may affect the cognition and walking speed of the elderly. This study tries to examine whether cognition and muscle training is appropriate to improve their vulnerability. Therefore this study will provide human ergonomics - based basic data in relation to the elderly to identify the risk of current signal system and to mitigate the risk. Method: A total of 30 elderly participants were divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. Experimental group (n=15) was trained to strengthen their muscles and to promote cognition, whereas control group (n=15) was not. The training was conducted twice a week for three weeks. To strengthen muscles, a yellow colored elastic-band was used, and a computer program for cognitive rehabilitation was used to develop cognition. In the experimental group, there were significant differences between pre and post exercises However, the control group didn't show any significant difference. The increase in cognition and walking speed was found in the experimental group, whereas there were no differences in the control group. Statistically there was no significant difference between the two groups. Results: The results of this study show that the exercise program using the elastic-band gave a positive effect on gait training thanks to the development of muscle power and balance. Conclusion: This study did not show any statistical difference or significant differences between the two groups, since time was restricted, we believe. Application: The results of the walking speed will help to prevent traffic collision.
This paper presents an elastic demand stochastic user equilibrium traffic assignment that could not be easily tackled. The elastic demand coupled with a travel performance function is known to converge to a supply-demand equilibrium, where a stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) is obtained. SUE is the state in which all equivalent path costs are equal, and thus no user can reduce his perceived travel cost. The elastic demand SUE traffic assignment can be formulated based on a dynamic system, which is a means of describing how one state develops into another state over the course of time. Traditionally it has been used for control engineering, but it is also useful for transportation problems in that it can describe time-variant traffic movements. Through the Lyapunov Function Theorem, the author proves that the model has a stable solution and confirms it with a numerical example.
In this paper, we consider a network optimization problem arising from the deployment of BcN access network. BcN convergence services requires that access networks satisfy QoS meausres. BcN services have two types of traffics : stream traffic and elastic traffic. Stream traffic uses blocking probability as a QoS measure, while elastic traffic uses delay factor as a QoS measure. Incorporating the QoS requirements, we formulate the problem as a nonlinear mixed-integer Programming model. The Proposed model seeks to find a minimum cost dimensioning solution, while satisfying the QoS requirement. We propose two local search heuristic algorithms for solving the problem, and develop a network design system that implements the developed heuristic algorithms. We demonstrate the computational efficacy of the proposed algorithm by solving a realistic network design problem.

In the near future we can expect a change in charging the Internet service. The flat charging maybe replaced with a usage-based charging. In line with this movement, we propose a method of charging the assured-quality Internet services for the next generation network by introducing a UBC (usage-based charging) scheme over the conventional flat charging platform. First, we investigate the attribute of elastic traffic generated by assured services in IP network. Next, we propose a new method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. Next, we propose a charging function for elastic traffic, which is applicable to any type of assured Internet services. Finally, we discuss the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.
