The dynamic stability of a functionally graded polymer microbeam reinforced by graphene oxides subjected to a periodic axial force is investigated. The microbeam is assumed to rest on an elastic substrate and is subjected to various immovable boundary restraints. The weight fraction of graphene oxides nanofillers is graded across the beam thickness. The effective Young's modulus of the functionally graded graphene oxides reinforced composite (FG-GORC) was determined using modified Halpin-Tsai model, with the mixture rule used to evaluate the effective Poisson's ratio and the mass density. An improved third order shear deformation theory (TSDT) is used in conjunction with the Chebyshev polynomial-based Ritz method to derive the Mathieu-Hill equations for dynamic stability of the FG-GORC microbeam, in which the scale effect is taken into account based on modified couple stress theory. Then, the Mathieu-Hill equation was solved using Bolotin's method to predict the principle unstable regions of the FG-GORC microbeams. The numerical results show the effects of the small scale, the graphene oxides nanofillers as well as the elastic substrate on the dynamic stability behaviors of the FG-GORC microbeams.

Site coefficients in IBC and KBC codes have some limits to predict the rational seismic responses of a structure, because they consider only the effect of the soil amplification without the effects of the structure-soil interaction. In this study, upper and lower limits of site coefficients are estimated through the pseudo 3-D elastic seismic response analyses of structures built on linear or nonlinear soil layers considering the structure-soil interaction effects. Soil characteristics of site classes of A, B, and C were assumed to be linear, and those of site classes of D and E were done to be nonlinear and the Ramberg-Osgood model was used to evaluate shear modulus and damping ratio of a soil layer depending on the shear wave velocity of a soil layer. Seismic analyses were performed with 12 weak or moderate earthquake records, scaled the peak acceleration to 0.1g or 0.2g and deconvoluted as earthquake records at the bedrock 30m beneath the outcrop. With the study results of the elastic seismic response analyses of structures, new standard response spectrum and upper and lower limits of the site coefficients of Fa and Fv at the short period range and the period of 1 second are suggested Including the structure-soil interaction effects.
This article addresses the quasi-static analysis of time-dependent honeycomb sandwich plates with various geometrical properties based on the bending analysis of elastic honeycomb sandwich plates employing a time function with three unknown coefficients. The novel point of the developed method is that the responses of viscoelastic honeycomb sandwich plates under static transversal loads are clearly formulated in the space and time domains with very low computational costs. The mechanical properties of the sandwich plates are supposed to be elastic for the faces and viscoelastic honeycomb cells for the core. The Boltzmann superposition integral with the constant bulk modulus is used for modeling the viscoelastic material. The shear effect is expressed using the first-order shear deformation theory. The displacement field is predicted by the product of a determinate geometrical function and an indeterminate time function. The simple HP cloud mesh-free method is utilized for discretizing the equations in the space domain. Two coefficients of the time function are extracted by answering the equilibrium equation at two asymptotic times. And the last coefficient is easily determined by solving the first-order linear equation. Numerical results are presented to consider the effects of geometrical properties on the displacement history of viscoelastic honeycomb sandwich plates.
In this research the hygro-thermo-mechanical loading and micromechanical model effects on bending behavior of functionally graded material plates resting on Winkler and Pasternak elastic foundations, the higher order shear deformation theory is used here. The material properties of the plate: young's modulus, thermal coefficient and moisture expansion coefficient are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to various micromechanical models starting with the Voigt's model which is commonly used in most functionally graded plates studies to the Reuss's, LRVE's and Mori-Tanaka's models. The principle of virtual displacement is used to determine the equilibrium equations and the a several numerical results are given to validate the precision of the present method for bending behavior of FGM plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical loading resting on elastic foundations. Afterwards, a parametric study is conducted to determine the effect of different parameters on the deflection of the FGM plates like micromechanical models, type of loading and plate geometry. In the lights of the present research, it can be concluded that the present theory is accurate and simple in predicting the deflection behavior of functionally graded plates under hygro-thermo-mechanical effects and micromechanical models.

Earlier works have shown that excessive shear stiffness at the steel-concrete interface causes a non-uniform distribution of shear force in composite structures. When the shear studs are wrapped at the fixed end with flexible materials with a low elastic modulus, the shear stiffness at the interface is reduced. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of silicone rubber-sleeve mounted on shear studs on the shear stiffness of steel-concrete composite structures. Eighteen push-out tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical behavior of silicone rubber-sleeved shear stud groups (SRS-SSG). The dimension and arrangement of silicon rubber-sleeves (SRS) were taken into consideration. Test results showed that the shear strength of SRS-SSG was higher than that of a shear stud group (SSG), without SRS. For SRS-SSG with SRS heights of 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, the shear strengths were improved by 13%, 20% and 9%, respectively, compared to the SSG alone. The shear strengths of SRS-SSG with the SRS thickness of 2 mm and 4 mm were almost the same. The shear stiffness of the SRS-SSG specimens with SRS heights of 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm were 77%, 67% and 66% of the SSG specimens, respectively. Test results of specimens SSG-1 and predicted values based on the three design specifications were compared. The nominal single stud shear strength of SSG-1 specimens was closest to that calculated by the Chinese Code for Design of Steel Structures (GB50017-2017). An equation is proposed to consider the effects of SRS for GB50017-2017, and the predicted values based on the proposed equation agree well with the tested results of SRS-SSG.

This paper deals with the pure bending of incompressible elastic perfectly plastic two-layer sheets under plane strain conditions at large strains. Each layer is classified by its yield stress, shear modulus of elasticity and its initial percentage thickness in relation to the whole sheet. The solution found is semi-analytic. In particular, a numerical technique is only necessary to solve transcendental equations. The general solution is cumbersome because different analytic expressions for the radial and circumferential stresses should be adopted in different regions of the whole sheet. In particular, there are several alternative ways a plastic region (or plastic regions) can propagate. However, for any given set of material and process parameters the solution to the problem consists of a sequence of rather simple analytic expressions connected by transcendental equations. The general solution is illustrated by a simple example.

A new mechanical model for predicting the vibration of a pipe pile embedded in longitudinally layered visco-elastic media with radial inhomogeneity is proposed by extending Novak's plain-strain model and complex stiffness method to consider viscous-type damping. The analytical solutions for the dynamic impedance, the velocity admittance and the reflected signal of wave velocity at the pile head are also derived and subsequently verified by comparison with existing solutions. An extensive parametric analysis is further performed to examine the effects of shear modulus, viscous damping coefficient, coefficient of disturbance degree, weakening or strengthening range of surrounding soil and longitudinal soft or hard interbedded layer on the velocity admittance and the reflected signal of wave velocity at the pile head. It is demonstrated that the proposed model and the obtained solutions provide extensive possibilities for practical application compared with previous related studies.

The objective of this research is to develop hybridized yarns for thermoplastic composites, and to examine tile effect of cooling rate on mechanical properties of the composites. The co-braided yarn utilizing carbon fibers as reinforcements and Nylon 66 fibers as matrix materials has been fabricated. Thermoplastic composites have been manufactured by the hot-press forming process. For the processing conditions, cooling rates of $-2.5^{\circ}C$/min and $-60^{\circ}C$/min have been considered. Three-point bending test and losipescu shear test were performed to investigate the effect of the cooling rate and the surface treatment of carbon fibers. SEM photographs were used to investigate the fracture surfaces of the tested samples. The cooling rate of $-60^{\circ}C$/min resulted in the higher strength and elastic modulus for bending and shear tests. The composites of the epoxy-sized carbon fibers showed the lowest strength due to the degradation of the sizing material during the thermoforming process.
Using the infinitesimal theory of elasticity and analytical formulation based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is presented for axisymmetric thick-walled cylinders made of functionally graded materials under internal and/or external uniform pressure. The material is assumed to be isotropic heterogeneous with constant Poisson's ratio and radially exponentially varying elastic modulus. At first, general governing equations of the FGM thick cylinders are derived by assumptions of the FSDT. Then the obtained equations are solved under the generalized clamped-clamped conditions. The results are compared with the findings of both FSDT and finite element method (FEM).
In this paper, soil-structure interaction analysis has been presented for beams resting on multilayered geosynthetic-reinforced granular fill-soft soil system. The soft soil and geosynthetic reinforcements are idealized as nonlinear springs and elastic membranes, respectively. The governing differential equations are solved by finite difference technique and the results are presented in non-dimensional form. It is observed from the study that use of geosynthetic reinforcement is not very effective for maximum settlement reduction in case of very rigid beam. Similarly the reinforcements are not effective for shear force reduction if the granular fill has very high shear modulus value. However, multilayered reinforced system is very effective for bending moment and differential settlement reduction.
