A Study on Decision Support System for the Efficient Quay Management (효율적 선석운영을 위한 의사결정지원시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In these days many people have studied on the berthing problem. The operation rules differ from port so port and the problem is highly dependent on the environment of port. The purpose of this study is to develop a decision support system decision makers of the berthing problem for Inchon Port. The system is developed with graphic user interface(GUI) using user-interactive approach and some general and specific rules for Inchon Prot are considered. The system is composed of the following four parts ; the input/output part, the automatic berthing part by the system using rules, the manual berthing part by user, and the part for modifying results or handling exceptional events. The system is designed to assign ship to berths by matching the characteristics with environmental and operational constraints of Inchon Port. We expect that this system can provide decision makers with an efficient and fast way to berthing and can reduce wastes of time, space, and manpower in port operations.

  • Efficient using of web cache is becoming important factor that decide system management efficiency in web-Based system. Cache performance depends heavily on replacement algorithms, which dynamically select a suitable subset of objects for caching in a finite space. However, replacement algorithm on web cache has many differences than traditional replacement algorithm. In this paper, a web-caching algorithm is proposed for efficient operation of web base system. The algorithm is designed based on a divided scope that considered size reference characteristic and heterogeneity on web object. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed with an experiment. With the experiment results, the algorithm is compared with previous replacement algorithms, and its performance is confirmed ith an improvement of response speed.

  • Distribution facilities are installed dispersedly nationwide and in view of huge amounts. it makes it difficult to manage and update distribution facilities information manually. Consequently, much efforts have been exerted on computerization of distribution facilities information. KEPCO has been building distribution facilities information system using GIS technology(DGIS) to manage distribution facilities. In order to implement DGIS, digitizing the existing cartographical and land registration map is essential. In this regard, the Government is pursuing the NGIS project. In parrallel with it, DGIS project will be accelerated in the future. This paper suggests the efficient development plans to computerize distribution facilities using GIS technology.

  • Subway is working in the construction of station and wayside equipment which was controlled by central and local control operating system for more efficient management. Traffic controlled by functional integration to be interlocked but each part is constructed and operated individually that is not efficient. Therefore, this paper offer to plan of integrating central and local system in one place of each feild. Functional integration plan will help central and local system to link strengthening. This is also offering to integrating central of an officer in command and integrating local of control station and office.

  • Platooning of vehicles is an efficient traffic management model that improves traffic flow and fuel consumption. Especially, it is necessary to reduce computational load and networking overhead in automated connected vehicle systems. Because it is important to maintain the size of the platoon group appropriately for efficient platoon operation, this study proposed a dynamic grouping scheme for platooning in an automated vehicle system. The proposed scheme is analyzed by a mathematical model based on Markov chain. From the performance evaluation, it was confirmed that the proposed scheme appropriately controls the size of the platoon group.

Analysis of Medical Charge for Inpatients with Stroke in Tertiary Hospital (종합전문요양기관에 입원한 뇌졸중환자의 진료비 분석)

  • This study was conducted to present strategies for efficient use of older people's medical expense and efficient management of hospital beds 삭제by analyzing factors which influenced medical charge of inpatients with stroke and medical charge of each medical treatment. The subjects was 1,070 inpatients with stroke in Academic hospital. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. In the case of cerebral hemorrhage, the rate of female was higher than that of male. In the case of cerebral infarction, the rate of male was higher than that of female. With increase of age, patients with cerebral hemorrhage decreased and patients with cerebral infarction increased. Medical charge for cerebral hemorrhage was 12,600,000 won, while that for cerebral infarction was 572,000 won. The medical charge with surgery was four times of that with non-surgery. The total medical charge for inpatients with stroke was 6,860,000 won. The patient payed 2,240,000 won(32.6%) and National Health Insurance Corporation payed 4,620,000 won(67.3%). Among charges of specific medical treatments, operation and treatment charge was highest(27.7%) in the case of cerebral hemorrhage, while examination charge was highest(32.2%)in the case of cerebral infarction. This study will provide basic information for efficient use of Medical Charge for Inpatients with Stroke.

  • Differing from civil engineering and construction, landscape architecture projects are far from efforts in operation and project management. Under the circumstances, it is worthwhile to adopt scope definition from project management for construction and civil engineering in some respects. First, scope definition is able to be conducted through a simple procedure without additional investment in capital and time. Second, the output produced by scope definition is very substantial. The research scrutinized scope definition procedures accompanied by landscape architecture project execution and derived various methods in order to help scope definition for efficient landscape architecture projects. Based on the literature review, a design case study, and an exert interview, the project success elements were developed consisting of 3 sections, 8 categories and 50 elements, grounded on the theoretical base of PDRI. The elements are expected to pave a way to an adequate level of scope definition among participants of landscape architecture projects and contribute in efficient project execution.

  • Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) increases the efficiency of maritime traffic in terms of reducing marine accidents and the efficient use of port facilities. This means that ports and waterways have their own capacities and can be safely adapted to their capacity through proper traffic management of the VTS. Proper traffic management can reduce the number of vessels and unnecessary waiting in ports, which can lead to economic benefits of ups and port terminals. On the other hand, Korean ports and waterways have restrictions on the maximum speed for safety, but there is no restriction on the minimum speed. However, ships that operate at low speeds in ports and waterways may be able to occupy long periods of operational routes, which may impede efficient port operation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose the minimum speed of ship for efficient port and waterway use. To this end, we reviewed the current laws and systems and proposed the appropriate minimum speed in the waterway using the theory of queue.

A Case Study on the Effect of Ergonomics Program in Shipbuilding Industry during the Last Ten Years

  • Objective: The Work-related musculoskeletal disorders(WMSDs) have been a problem on industrial occupational safety and health in Korean shipyard industry. It has been a big social problem. Background: As a result, Korean government enacted a law to prevent musculoskeletal disorders at work and some major companies have already implemented an ergonomics program. Method: This paper presents a study on the effect of an ergonomics program in a Korean shipbuilding company during the last ten years. Conclusion: The Incidence of WMSDs, the worker's compensation cost and the lost time were decreased after implementation of the ergonomics program. Application: The results of the publishing will help efficient operation of MSDs prevention activity in other companies.

Design Methods of Intermittent Deep Draw Aeration System for Reservoir Water Quality Management (저수지의 수질 관리를 위한 간헐식 양수통형 인공 순환 장치의 설계 방법 개발)

  • Intermittent deep draw artificial circulation system is one of the most widely used destratification systems to control algal bloom in reservoirs in Korea. However, there have been neither theoretical background of design criteria nor operation guide line for efficient application of the system available for such systems. A design method was developed to calculate required compressor capacity and number of circulation units considering physical interactions between stratified water layers and plumes induced by the intermittent deep draw artificial circulation system. The program was tested with data observed in Yeoncho Lake. The results indicated that the developed method can applied in the fields successfully. Further validation processes would improve design and operation methods.
