Antioxidant Enzymes in Relation to Oxidative Deterioration of Muscle Foods (근육식품에서 지방산화와 관련된 항산화 효소)

  • Antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) are known to inhibit oxidative reactions by incativating compounds responsible for the formation of ree radicals. SOD transforms superoxide radical into hydrogen peroxide which is precursor to active free radicals. CAT reduces hydrogen peroxide to water. GSH-Px reduces hydroperoxides to corresponding alcohols. Antioxidant enzyme activities of muscle are different by animal species age, stress and exercise, muscle type and part, conditions of post mortem, storage and processing which are related to oxidative deterioration I muscle foods as well as oxidative defence in living systems. Antioxidant enzyme systems are enhanced rather than weakened in aging skeletal muscle. Red muscle contains higher antioxidant enzyme activity than white muscle. The antioxidant enzyme activities of poultry are higher in leg than in breast, and those of beef are higher in redder and more unstable muscles. It is clear that the effectiveness of the antioxidant enzyme in muscle foods seems to be influenced by meat processing operations. Both GSH-Px and CAT are inactivated by heat processing NaCl also influence the efficiency of the antioxident enzymes since its presence diminishes their catalyitc activity.

  • Tidal power is one of new and renewable energy sources. The seawater is stored inside a tidal embankment built at the mouth of a river or bay, where tides ebb and flow. The water turbine-generators produce power by exploiting the gap in the water level between the water outside and inside the embankment. Tidal power plant is a large plant that is installed on the sea. And then, the facility's operations and a separate control system for monitoring and maintenance is required. However, this plant predictive control of building systems and technologies have been avoided the transfer of technology from advanced global companies. Accordingly, the control system for core technology development and localization is urgently needed. This paper presents modeling and simulation using by PSS/E about generator, governor, exciter, and power system stabilizer for control system in Sihwa tidal power plant to improve the efficiency and develope of core technology. And the dynamic characteristics of governor and exciter were analyzed.

  • This paper proposes efficient digital hardware design method by using fixed weight of pre-trained neural network. For this, arithmetic operations of PEs(Processing Elements) are represented with matrix-vector multiplication. The relationship of fixed weight and input data present bit-level array structure architecture which is consisted operation node. To minimize the operation node, this paper proposes node elimination method and setting common node depend on bit pattern of weight. The result of FPGA simulation shows the efficiency on hardware cost and operation speed with full precision. And proposed design method makes possibility that many PEs are implemented to on-chip.

  • This paper proposes a method related to fault tolerance operation and characteristic analysis of asymmetric 6-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. In general, motor drive systems with multi-phase structures can be continuously operated despite a reduction of power and speed by using a phase changeover or control techniques according to the failures. As a result, it is widely used in industrial fields such as aviation and defense, which require high efficiency and high reliability. In this paper, the second order ripple of the electrical fundamental freuqnecy occurs in the dq-axis currents of the synchronous coordinate system through mathematical analysis according to the switch open of the dual 3-phase inverter. Therefore, the fault tolerant operation method is presented by applying the fault detection method with a constant cycle for continuous operations. The effectiveness of the proposed fault tolerance operation method is verified through the several experiments.

  • Nuclear power plant operations for electricity generation, rare-earth mining, nuclear medical research, and nuclear weapons reprocessing considerably increase radioactive waste, necessitating massive efforts to eradicate radioactive waste from aquatic environments. Cobalt (58Co) and strontium (90Sr) radioactive elements have been extensively employed in energy generation, nuclear weapon testing, and the manufacture of healthcare products. The erroneous discharge of these elements as pollutants into the aquatic system, radiation emissions, and long-term disposal is extremely detrimental to humans and aquatic biota. Numerous methods for treating radioactive waste-contaminated water have emerged, among which the adsorption process has been promoted for its efficacy in eliminating radioactive waste from aquatic habitats. The current review discusses the adsorptive removal of radioactive waste from aqueous solutions using low-cost adsorbents, such as graphene oxide, metal-organic frameworks, and inorganic metal oxides, as well as their composites. The chemical modification of adsorbents to increase their removal efficiency is also discussed. Finally, the current state of 58Co and 90Sr removal performances is summarized and the efficiencies of various adsorbents are compared.

  • Air grinding time in grinding process has a great effect on its efficiency due to low feedrate. This paper presents a reduction methos of air grinding time in cylindrical plunge grinding operation. Tje reduction of air grinding time is accomplished by finding the distance between contact point and rising point of ultra- sonic signal of the grinding wheel to workpiece. It uses a variation of sound signal generated by the flow of coolant when the grinding wheel approaches to workpiece. The ultrasonic sensor with 23 kHz center fre- quency and 8 kHz bandwidth is used to find the nearest approaching point(NAP). Monitoring and control system of the grinding conditions is implemented with CNC controller to control feedrate override and ultrasonic sensor to find NAP. The experimental result shows that the ultrasonic signal is a good measure- ment to find NAP. But it needs the considerations for the effect of the relationship between flowrate of coolant and diameter of workpiece.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing and implementing an oil pump control system driven by a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. The proposed oil pump plays the role of providing fuel to the engine clutch and transmission of hybrid vehicles. Main consideration is given to enhancing response feature and accuracy of the oil pump by simplifying the controller that is driven by a BLDC motor under PWM voltage control, which is a standard control method for BLDC motors. The proposed control scheme also helps to increase efficiency and reliability of the oil pump system. To validate the performance of the proposed system, we conduct experiments on BLDC motor speed control and oil pump operations.

  • IPTV Content delivery systems over wired networks confront scalability problems due to their high network bandwidth requirement for real-time services. Especially, VoD service provides Trick Mode features such as pause, fast forward and similar operations. However, Trick Mode services are delivered by the method of unicast only for controlling of the stream. With a point of views, this paper propose a new real-time multimedia streaming architecture over IP Networks, which tries to achieve bandwidth efficiency and supporting for mass clients better than traditional unicast services. The proposed methods divide the Transport Stream into a series of segments. After that, this divided partial Transport Stream makes multicast streaming periodically. Meanwhile Set-top Box of a client makes a rearrangement orderly by using Presentation Time Stamp field from the served Transport Stream packets. While the current Transport Stream segment is playing, it should be guaranteed that the next segment is downloaded on time. Consequently, the original video content can be played out continuously. The detail introduction of a new real-time multimedia streaming system with analysis and simulation follows as below.

  • Current iron and steelmaking operation was re-evaluated on the basis of slag engineering technology to optimize slag operations. In blast furnace process, increase in the basicity of slags (C/S) could obtain progressed fluidity and hot metal quality. COREX process would be stabilized in view of slag fluidity and hot metal quality by reducing input content of $SiO_2$and $A1_2$$O_3$In STS-AOD process, addition of small amount of lime could improve refining capacity of the slag; also calcium aluminate flux could be taken into account as a potential substitute for fluorspar, without degradation of operation efficiency and steel quality.

  • There are several different types of continuously variable transmission(CVT) such as toroidal drive, belt drive, hydrostatic drive, hydro-mechanical drive. The toroidal CVT is an alternative to the manual transmission, HST, power-shift gear trans-missions or other CVTs. The driver of the CVT tractor doesn't have to operate a shia lever since the CVT controller automatically controls the speed of tractor. Thus, it is much easier to operate the CVT tractor. The fuel efficiency of CVT tractor can be increased since the controller responds quickly to the change in external load on the wheel during field operation. This study was conducted to develop the hardwares and softwares for the toroidal CVT controller which control the variator and the range clutches. The hardware consisted of a measurement system, hydraulic system and computer. And the PID controller was developed using the simulation model of the CVT control system. Through the simulation, the control coefficients for the PID controller were selected. Finally, the performance of the CVT control system was evaluated by step response test and torque response test. The settling time of the CVT control system appeared to be fast enough for field operations.
