  • We are presenting the efficient and robust simplified module based self-collision detection of humanoid robot simulator. For safe and reliable operations of humanoid robot, the self-collision detection is essential and extremely important. The main methods of self-collision detection are inverse X-Y-Z fixed angles and module distance filtering (MDF). According to experiments on the humanoid robot simulator with the self-collision detection, we could have a confidence about the efficiency of the self-collision.

  • In this study the drift prediction models currently used in search and rescue(SAR) operations are introduced and the basic differences among them are analyzed by comparing the target classification, the treatment of environmental conditions, leeway equations and the determination of search area. In addition the new methods under development including AP98 of U.S. Coast Guard are compared and studied to improve the efficiency of SAR operation.

  • This paper constitutes the simulator of the serial production line using Extended Petri Nets. We analyze each operations and effect of machine down, calculating the performance measures for improving the capability of manufacturing system. The performance measures are system efficiency, average utilization of machines, average buffer level, and so on. We intend to present the information of the operation states and various problem occurring in the systems.

  • This research describes how the class D amplifiers with power efficiency are designed and implemented for the PA audio systems. The configuration that makes use of the class D amplifier properties depends strongly on their applications. Thus in this paper the characteristics of the 2-level and 3-level PWM are analysed and the circuit implementation for them is presented. Using the proposed methods, they are designed and simulated for the further investigation. Test(Simulation) results present the improved performance that shows the satisfactory operations in controlling the PWM to the input signals.

  • We design an integrated production management system that incorporates management tasks of procurement of materials, production, and marketing. It includes MRP simulation on small or medium sized companies, design of databases, and definition of relevant objects in production environments. The system has been designed using object-oriented programming concept not only to represent the real-world situation easily, but also to help system integration. Graphics-User Interface(GUI) is also employed for the efficiency of production planning.

  • The ordering method is used to reduce the fill-ins in interior point methods. In ordering, the data structure plays an important role. In this paper, first, we compare the efficiency and the memory storage requirement of the quotient graph structure and the clique storage. Next, we propose a method of reducing the number of cliques and a data structure for clique storage. Finally, we apply a method of merging rows and absorbing cliques and show the experimental results.

  • A seeder monitoring system was developed to remove the uneasiness of mis-sowing that drop operations efficiency at sowing-work and to make reliable and stable work. The objectives of this study are to investigate that the system developed is applicable to sowing soybean seeds and scattering fertilizer and to evaluate performance of the system developed through the indoor test and the indoor test and the field test before it is propelled to put the system developed to practical use.

  • This paper considers the sequencing problem in mixed model assembly lines with hybrid workstation types and sequence-dependent setup times. Computation time is often a critical factor in choosing a method of determining the sequence. We develop a mathematical formulation of the problem to minimize the overall length of a line, and present a tabu search technique which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. The proposed technique is compared with a genetic algorithm and a branch-and-bound method. Experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.

  • This paper presents an efficient optimization algorithm for the crude oil tanker scheduling problem. The algorithm consists of two stages. In stage one, all the potentially optimal schedules (called 'candidate schedules') are generated from feasible schedules for each ship. In the second stage, a multiple ship scheduling problem is formulated as 0-1 integer programming problem considering only the those candidate schedules. The efficiency of the suggested algorithm was improved by exploiting the special structure of the formulation. The algorithm was illustrated by a numerical example and tested on practical ship scheduling problems.

  • A new, simple method to determine the die shape using a streamline in extrusion is presented. This method assumes that a billet deforms naturally to minimize the energy input for the given process condition. Then, an optimal die shape can be determined along a streamline. Extrusion operations with two types of materials, strain-hardening material and strain-rate hardening material, are examined using this method. Predictions with the proposed method are compared with those by the previous optimizing model to show its efficiency.
