  • In recently, the influence of client-server systems on organizations and how to estimates the efficiency or productivity of organizations and departments has come to be more concerned by many researchers. Especially, information systems(IS) of the financial institutions are greatly used than any other industries. Therefore, the efficiency of IS departments in financial institutions is relatively important. The overall objectives of this research are to estimate the effects of client-server systems and to evaluate whether the client-serve systems really improve the efficiency of information system. The research method used in this research is DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) estimation method which based on linear programming is used for the efficiency of managerial organizations and other nonprofit organizations. The results of this research showed that the efficiency of IS department was promoted after implementation of client-server systems.

  • This research aims to propose model for measuring the efficiency of R&D organizations by using Data Envelopment Analysis. In existing research about using Data Envelopment Analysis, the types of R&D organizations have not been clarified and the difference between analysis time from measurement time is usually $4{\sim}5$ years. This research divides R&D organizations into three types and provides proper methods for measuring the efficiency of each R&D organizations.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a methodology of computing the relative efficiency of each decision making unit (DMU) by comparing it with other DMUs having similar input and output structure. In this paper, we compare the efficiency of Korean rail transit corporations using DEA. To do this, we design a DEA-AR/AHP model, and evaluate efficiency by comparing the subway operating agencies of six big cities. The analysis reveals that Seoul Metro and Seoul city railroad construction turn out to be the most efficient groups. The result of this research can provide helpful information for effective management in a domestic subway operating agency.

  • This paper attempts to propose the decision support model, which can be employed for 22 mail centers to improve their operational efficiency and competitive. This model deals with both DEA method and system dynamics model. DEA is a management tool aimed to determine relative efficiency of independent decision making unit. We measured the relative efficiency between mail centers using CCR model and tried to find the reason for inefficiency mail centers. Also, we introduced the system dynamics model to present the strategic policy for mail center to strengthen their efficiency.

  • In order to provide a manufacturing system with efficiency and flexibility to cope with the changes in shop floor status, the integration of process planning and operations scheduling is required. In this paper, an integrated system of process planning and operations scheduling based on the concept of process net model and genetic algorithm is suggested. The process net model includes the alternative process plans. The integrated system is applied for prismatic parts.

  • An efficient algorithm which can be employed in obtaining the minimal cut sets of a fault tree containing repeated events is introduced. A sample fault tree illustrates this algorithm. Efficiency of an algorithm is defined as the ratio of the number of minimal cut sets to the number of cut sets determined by the algorithm. An efficiency of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of two existing algorithms : Fussell and Vesely's algorithm and Bengiamin et al. 's algorithm. The proposed algorithm is shown to be more efficient than the existing two algorithms.

  • In grinding operations, one of the most important problems is to increase efficiency of process. In order to achive this purpose, it is necessary to administer the tool life of grinding wheel and to optimize grinding conditions. Frequently dressing result in lowering the process efficiency remarkably and makes production cost high. On the other hand, grinding with a worn wheel causes the workpiece surface roughness to increase and often results in the occurrence of such troubles as chatter vibration and burning.

  • The efficiency of marketing channel of distribution between a sholesaler and a retailer with uncertain characteristics can be improved by influencing the retailer's ordering pattern. The wholesaler with large unit invetory holding cost can offer a large quantity discount tanks to the great benefit which comes from the transfer of part of his inventory to retailer. The retailer's increasing average inventory holding cost can be offset by the quantity discount and by savings of the ordering cost. Conditions under which marketing channel improvement can be possible are derived.

  • In this paper, we propose a new blocking method, multiple blocking, and examine the efficiency of the method in basic matrix operations. In the best case for the matrix multiplication C=AB+C, the multiple blocking improves the performance by more than 10%, compared to the conventional single blocking method.
