  • The purpose of this study was to identify differences in teachers perception on educational attributes and effectiveness of IPTV according to demographic factors. To investigate possibility of educational application, the participants of the study were teachers selected from IPTV initiative schools in elementary and middle levels nationwide. 55 teachers participated from 22 IPTV model schools nationwide, which were 9 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 7 high schools. As results of research, there were some significant foundings. In terms of the perception on educational attributes of IPTV, there are explicit perceptional difference between "capital area teachers" and "the other regional teachers". However, there were no significant difference according to school level. Perception of male teachers were more positive than those of female teachers. Also, there were no significant difference according to teaching experience. On the other hand, in terms of the perception on educational effects of IPTV, we could conclude that teachers from metropolitan cities have more negative perception on IPTV than teachers from other kinds of cities have. Regardless of school levels, teachers showed merely fair perception on effectiveness of IPTV. There was significant difference between male teachers and female teachers in perception on educational effectiveness. Also, Results showed no significant differences according to teaching experiences. Future tasks for the development of IPTV strategies require specific need analysis of teachers and collaborative works of policy makers, teachers, researchers, and IPTV service providers.

  • Previous studies have demonstrated that the three dimensions of Triple Bottom Line (TBL : economic, social, and environmental responsibility) indirectly affect product/corporate evaluation through reciprocity perception and trust (expertize-based trust and benevolence-based trust). Different from the past studies, this study investigates on the indirect effects as well as the direct effects of the three dimensions on product/corporate evaluation. The empirical results can be summarized as follows. First, reciprocity perception affects benevolence-based trust but it does not expertize-based trust. Second, the effect of economic dimension on product/corporate evaluation is not affected by reciprocity perception and benevolence-based trust, however, the effects of social dimension and environmental dimension on product/corporate evaluation are affected by reciprocity perception and benevolence-based trust.

  • Background: Consumption of tobacco in the form of a water pipe has recently increased, especially among young people. This study aimed to develop a scale which would be used in order to detect perceptions about the effects of water pipe smoking on health and to test its validity and reliability. Our scale named "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was developed in order to detect factors effecting the perception of adolescents about the effects of water pipe smoking on health. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 150 voluntary students in scale development and 750 voluntary students in the study group. Data were collected via a questionnaire prepared by researchers themselves and 5-pont Likert scale for "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" which was prepared through the literature. Data evaluation was carried out on a computer with SPSS. Results: The findings of the study showed that "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was valid and reliable. Total score average of the adolescents participated in the study was $58.5{\pm}1.25$. The mean score of the ones who did not smoke water pipe ($60.1{\pm}11.7$) was higher than the mean score of the ones who smoked water pipe ($51.6{\pm}13.8$), the difference being statistically significant. Conclusions: It is established that "a scale of perception about the effects of water pipe smoking on health" was a reliable and valid measurement tool. It is also found out that individuals who smoked a water pipe had a lower level of perception of water pipe smoking effects on health than their counterparts who did not smoke a water pipe.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the main and interaction effects of mothers' parental internal attributions and neuroticism on self-perception of the parental role. Methods: A total of 138 mothers with toddlers in Seoul and other big cities in Korea completed questionnaires, and data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analyses. Results: The results were as follows: First, mothers who attributed their successful parenting to ability showed lower satisfaction, and mothers who attributed their successful parenting to ability and effort showed higher feelings of equilibrium. Mothers with higher levels of neuroticism showed higher competence, parental investment, and satisfaction in their self-perception of the parental role. Second, there were significant interaction effects between ability attribution and neuroticism on feelings of equilibrium, between effort attribution and neuroticism on feelings of equilibrium, between ability attribution and neuroticism on competence, and between effort attribution and neuroticism on parenting investment. Conclusion: The findings of this research indicate that neuroticism showed a positive effect on self-perception of the parental role because neuroticism indicates sensitivity in parenting. Further, the effects of neuroticism on self-perception of the parental role differed by mothers internal attribution.

  • Purpose: This study was to explore the perception about menstruation and discomforts of using disposable menstrual pads in menstruating women. Method: A survey was conducted of 132 menstrual women recruited by convenience sampling. Data were collected by a face-to-face interview and a study questionnaire, and analyzed by frequency and $X^2$-test. Result: More than half of the subjects expressed a negative perception about menstruation, while 25% expressed a mixed perception and 24.2% expressed a positive perception. Women who perceived their menstruation negatively had more menstrual pain than the others (p<.001). The most frequently experienced discomforts of using disposable pads were an unpleasant smell (18.9%), leakage (18.9%), and discomfort (16.6%). Adverse effects of using disposable pads were reported as an itching sense (23.1%). skin rash (20.2%), and skin irritation (10.6%). Alternate materials were reported with tampons, alternate washable pads, and maternity pads. Conclusion: The results indicate that disposable menstrual pads cause several discomforts and common adverse effects such as skin problems. To decrease these discomforts and relieve adverse effects, planned nursing education including women's personal hygiene methods and information about an alternate pad may be helpful.

  • This study examined the impact of sonority profiles, positional differences and L2 proficiency on Korean EFL learners' perception of English biconsonantal clusters, using nonce words. The overall results showed that major predictions of the sonority-based typological markedness on consonant clusters were supported, as obstruent plus sonorant and sonorant plus obstruent sequences were better perceived than obstruent only or sonorant only sequences. Yet, some consonant clusters did not show a preference for sonority profiles. Positional effects were also confirmed, as word-initial biconsonantal clusters were better perceived than wordfinal ones across all the participant groups. Participants' English proficiency turned out to be also important in the perception of consonant clusters, since university students' mean rate of accuracy was highest, followed by that of high school students, which in turn followed by that of middle school students. Further, the effects of other factors like frequency and stimuli on speech perception were also addressed, along with some implications for future research.
