  • To obtain the system requirement specification in the beginning of the precision guidance system development, the effectiveness and reliability analysis for the system are necessary. The main purpose of this research is to obtain the system requirement specification for the high speed unmanned underwater vehicles by carrying out the effectiveness analysis using the modeling and simulation scheme. The effectiveness is position error for target position. Reaching accuracy is expected to be affected by the navigation sensor parameter. Assume that the navigation sensors that is consist of inertial navigation system(INS) and doppler velocity log(DVL) is the parameter. To analyze the effectiveness of each parameter, Monte-Carlo numerical simulation is performed in this research. The effectiveness analysis is carried out using circular error probability(CEP) and variance analyze scheme. Considering the cost function, the specification of the navigation sensor is provided. The cost function is consist of the INS and DVL specification and the price of those sensors.

  • In the development phase of a torpedo, the effectiveness analysis is carried out to predict the performance and to learn how to use the torpedo. In order to obtain reliable data, it is required to model the tactical situation closely to the actual one. Because the submarine is a target of a lightweight torpedo, the anti-torpedo countermeasures of a submarine such as evasive maneuvering and TACM (Torpedo Acoustic Counter Measure) should be modeled in detail. In this paper, the evasive maneuvering is modeled reflecting the movement characteristics of the submarine. Furthermore various TACMs such as a floating-type decoy, a self-propelled decoy and jammers are also modeled. Then, effectiveness of a lightweight torpedo is measured and analyzed using the simulation program which is developed through the above modeling procedure.

  • It is an important issue to evaluate the effectiveness of chemical warfare through modeling and simulation(M&S) technology. In this paper, we propose the M&S methodology and environment for the chemical warfare for effectiveness analysis. In detail, for modeling perspective, we propose three fundamental component models according to their behaviors, which are a chemical weapon, a detecting device system, and an engaging unit system. Among proposed models, the chemical weapon and the detecting device system models are represented by engineering-level system models, whereas the engaging unit system model are described as an engagement-level system model. For simulation perspective, we apply a hybrid simulation environment using High Level Architecture (HLA) to interoperate with the proposed engineering and engagement-level models. The proposed M&S methodology and environment enables to evaluate the effectiveness of the chemical warfare system considering the doctrines, the performance of device or weapon, and weather factors. To verify the efficiency of the proposed methodology and environment, we experimented three categorized case studies, which are related with those considering factors.

  • This paper aims at developing an active expressway entrance control effectiveness analysis tool which operators can utilize and manage traffic based on current traffic condition. For this, after identifying the current problems of tollgate-based entrance policy being used, a new set of decision element such as congestion index, decision criteria for congestion, and congestion management unit has been proposed together with the procedure of newly developed tollgate control policy. Three key parts developed are traffic condition identification module, tollgate metering module, and travel speed calculation module. Some measures of effectiveness were also identified and the newly developed effectiveness analysis tool produced better result. According to classification of traffic condition by reference speed as 80km/h, the improved tollgate entrance procedure increased 21.5% in average travel speed compared with Do-Nothing case and also increased 8.8% compared with current entrance control method.
