해양 스태빙 가이드 설계 고찰 (Study on Offshore Stabbing Guide design)

  • The stabbing guide is often used to guide an add-on pile into an existing pile in offshore jacket installation. It provides a pile alignment for a welding tie-in in static condition as well. Even stabbing guide is an essential component in pile installation, it is not considered as a permanent offshore structure. In this regard, there is not a define design guideline proposed. In API RP 2A WSD, it briefly define the design considerations of stabbing guide. The failure of stabbing guide can cause a greate economical loss and a serious impact to the project schedule. Stabbing guide design should consider many factors considering actual work conditions for both static and dynamic situations. In the paper, a design method is proposed by appling the plate theory and it is confirmed numerically with FEM modeling. The geometry of stabbing guide is assumed as a cylinder shape with various wall thickness and effective length. The various thickness, effective length and pile size are compared for stable stabbing guide design.

  • Conventionally design for multi-stage cold forging depends on the designer's experience and decision-making. Due to such non-deterministic nature of the process sequence design, a flexible inference engine is needed for process design expert system. In this study, A* searching algorithm was introduced to arrive at the vetter process sequence design considering the number of forming stages and levels of effective strain, effective stress, and forming load during the porcess. In order to optimize the process sequence in producing the final part, cost function was defined and minimized using the proposed A* searching algorithm. For verification of the designed forming sequences, forming experiments and finite element analyses were carried out in the present investigation. The developed expert system using A* searching algorithm can produce a flexible design system based on changes in the number of forming stages and weights.

Comparison of Database Models for Developing a Pavement Performance Analysis System

  • One of the most difficult tasks in pavement management information systems is establishing the links between performance measures of a structure and the design and construction inputs. In-situ pavement performance can be considered a response variable to many project input variables, such as design, construction, and traffic loading effects. If we are to fully understand the component of pavement performance and specify the inputs through design and construction specifications to achieve that performance we must develop quantitative relationship between input and response variables through a scientific, fully integrated Pavement Performance Analysis System (PPAS). Hence, the objective of this study is to design a database model required for developing an effective database template that will allow analysis of pavement performance measures based on design and construction information linked by location. In order to select the most appropriate database model, a conceptual database model (Entity Relationship Model) and dimensional model, which is believed to be the most effective modeling technique for data warehouse project, are designed and compared. It is believed that other state highway agencies could adopt the proposed design strategy for implementing a PPAS at the discretion of the state highway agencies.

Stability analysis of truss type highway sign support structures

  • The design of truss type sign support structures is based on the guidelines provided by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standard Specifications for Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals and the American Institute of Steel Construction Design Specifications. Using these specifications, the column design strength is normally determined using the effective length approach. This approach does not always accurately address all issues associated with frame stability, including the actual end conditions of the individual members, variations of the loads in the members, and the resulting sidesway buckling for truss type sign support structures. This paper provides insight into the problems with the simplified design approach for determining the effective lengths and discusses different approaches for overcoming these simplifications. A system buckling approach, also known as a rational buckling analysis, is used in this study to determine improved predictions for design strength of truss type sign support structures.

  • A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system can provide all-weather, day and night, superior imaging capability, and thus is very useful in surveillance for military applications. In this paper, a X-band spaceborne SAR system design concept is introduced with the key design parameters for mission and system requirements characterized by small satellite system. The SAR imaging mode design procedure is presented, and the standard imaging mode design results are analyzed as an example. In line with the given mission and system requirements, the X-band SAR payload and ground reception/processing subsystems are designed and presented with the key design results. The designed small satellite SAR system shows the wide range of imaging capability, and proves to be an effective surveillance system in light-weight, high-performance and cost-effective points of view.

  • recently there have been many destructive seismic events in Kobe Japan in 1995 and in Northridge California USA in 1994. etc. The Korean Bridge Design Standard Specifications adopted the seismic design requirements in 1992. Comparing the earthquake magnitude in Korea with those in the west coast of the USA it may be said that the current seismic design requirements of the Korean Bridge Design Standard Specifications provides too conservation design results especially for transverse reinforcement details and amount in reinforced concrete columns. This fact usually makes construction problems in concrete casting due to transverse reinforcement congestion. And the effective stiffness Ieff depends on the axial load P(Ag{{{{ {f }_{ck } }}) and the longitudinal reinforcement ratio Ast/Ag and it is conservative to use the effective stiffness Ieff than the gross section moment Ig. Seismic design for transverse reinforcement content of concrete column is considered of extreme-fiber compression strain R-factor axial load and stiffness etc.

  • 본 논문에서는 캡스톤설계 수행시 지도교수가 효율적인 지도와 관리가 가능하도록 하는 캡스톤설계의 정형화된 수행 절차와 운영에 관한 코칭모델을 제안하였다. 코칭모델은 소셜네트워크서비스를 기반으로 하는 캡스톤설계의 효율적인 운영에 관한 코칭과 캡스톤설계 수행과 관리를 위한 절차에 관한 코칭으로 제안하였고, 목포대학교 컴퓨터공학과 학생의 프로그램학습성과 성취도 평가를 통해 제안된 코칭모델의 효율성을 입증하였다.

A Study on Efficient Classification of Pattern Using Object Oriented Relationship between Design Patterns

  • The Clustering is representative method of components classification. The previous clustering methods that use cohesion and coupling cannot be effective because design pattern has focused on relation between classes. In this paper, we classified design patterns with features of object-oriented relationship. The result is that classification by clustering showed higher precision than classification by facet. It is effective that design patterns are classified by automatic clustering algorithm. When patterns are retrieved in classification of design patterns, we can use to compare them because similar pattern is saved to same category. Also we can manage repository efficiently because of storing patterns with link information.

  • VE는 원가절감, 공기단축, 품질향상, 안전성 향상이라는 네 가지 측면을 모두 만족시킬 수 있는 최적의 방법이다. 설계VE의 중요성은 계속 부각되고 있으며, VE 업무를 효율적으로 수행할 수 있는 방법에 관한 연구가 요구된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 VE 업무를 효율적으로 수행할 수 있도록 도와줄 수 있는 설계VE 점검 체크리스트 개발방법을 제시하고자 한다. 체크리스트의 개발방법은 도면정보의 범주화를 통해 주요 요소들을 도출하고, 도출된 요소들을 바탕으로 체크리스트 항목을 작성한다. 작성된 항목을 바탕으로 공종별 전문가 검토를 통해 설계VE 점검 체크리스트를 개발한다.

Optimal placement and tuning of multiple tuned mass dampers for suppressing multi-mode structural response

  • The optimal design of multiple tuned mass dampers (multiple TMD's) to suppress multi-mode structural response of beams and floor structures was investigated. A new method using a numerical optimizer, which can effectively handle a large number of design variables, was employed to search for both optimal placement and tuning of TMD's for these structures under wide-band loading. The first design problem considered was vibration control of a simple beam using 10 TMD's. The results confirmed that for structures with widelyspaced natural frequencies, multiple TMD's can be adequately designed by treating each structural vibration mode as an equivalent SDOF system. Next, the control of a beam structure with two closely-spaced natural frequencies was investigated. The results showed that the most effective multiple TMD's have their natural frequencies distributed over a range covering the two controlled structural frequencies and have low damping ratios. Moreover, a single TMD can also be made effective in controlling two modes with closely spaced frequencies by a newly identified control mechanism, but the effectiveness can be greatly impaired when the loading position changes. Finally, a realistic problem of a large floor structure with 5 closely spaced frequencies was presented. The acceleration responses at 5 positions on the floor excited by 3 wide-band forces were simultaneously suppressed using 10 TMD's. The obtained multiple TMD's were shown to be very effective and robust.
