  • In order to clarify the effect of overload on crack growth behaviors, fatigue tests for overload were carried out for round plain specimens of SM45C steel. In the experiment, typical semi-elliptical crack shape was found and further crack growth behaviors were tested. Using three types of single overload fatigue tests, Crack growth retardation phenomenon were examined. The growth rate of surface crack(da/dN) during retardation period was analyzed in terms of ${\Delta}K$ and ${\Delta}K_{eff}$. On the growth rate of surface crack analyzed by ${\Delta}K$, the dependence of overload stress levels appears. However, on the growth rate by ${\Delta}K_{eff}$ obtained by Willenborg analysis, there is a liner relationship between da/dN and ${\Delta}K_{eff}$ with narrow scatter band.

  • Though the magnitude is decreasing, the compressive residual stress is always distributed during fatigue crack growth near the crack tip. This means that the residual stress is released during fatigue crack growth due to the alternative load. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ is modified by using the initial residual stress and the redistributed residual stress in uniform and various thickness welded specimens. The former is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ and the latter is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$. ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ gives more accurate relations in da/dN vs. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ curve, however the difference is very small.

  • We analyse the large-scale clustering in Fourier space of emission line galaxies (ELG) from the Data Release 16 of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey. The ELG sample contains 173 736 galaxies covering 1170 deg2 in the redshift range 0.6 eff = 0.845 we measure DV(zeff)/rdrag = 18.33+0.57-0.62, with DV the volume-averaged distance and rdrag the comoving sound horizon at the drag epoch. In combination with the RSD measurement, at zeff = 0.85 we find fσ8(zeff) = 0.289+0.085-0.096, with f the growth rate of structure and σ8 the normalization of the linear power spectrum, DH(zeff)/rdrag = 20.0+2.4-2.2 and DM(zeff)/rdrag = 19.17 ± 0.99 with DH and DM the Hubble and comoving angular distances, respectively. These results are in agreement with those obtained in configuration space, thus allowing a consensus measurement of fσ8(zeff) = 0.315 ± 0.095, DH(zeff)/rdrag = 19.6+2.2-2.1 and DM(zeff)/rdrag = 19.5 ± 1.0. This measurement is consistent with a flat ΛCDM model with Planck parameters.

  • The variations of the dynamical substructures of NGC 6934 have been investigated by means of performing point spread function stellar photometry and the surface photometry on BV CCD images of NGC 6934. Our results show that overall variations of ellipticity and position angle range in $0.02{\sim}0.08\;and\;-90^{\circ}{\sim}+90^{\circ}$, respectively out to three times the half light radius. The inner ($r_{eff}) substructures of NGC 6934 inferred from the variations of ellipticity and position angle are mainly affected by the bright red giant populations, while the effects of the other giant populations are weaker than those of the bright red giant populations. Horizontal branch populations and faint red giant star populations affect the dynamical substructures of NGC 6934 in the region of $r_h.

  • The aim of this study Is to develop a simple and fast method which computes in-vivo doses from transmission doses measured doting patient treatment using an ionization chamber. Energy fluence and the dose that reach the chamber positioned behind the patient is modified by three factors: patient attenuation, inverse square attenuation. and scattering. We adopted a straightforward empirical approach using a phantom transmission factor (PTF) which accounts for the contribution from all three factors. It was done as follows. First of all, the phantom transmission factor was measured as a simple ratio of the chamber reading measured with and without a homogeneous phantom in the radiation beam according to various field sizes($r_p$), phantom to chamber distance($d_g$) and phantom thickness($T_p$). Secondly, we used the concept of effective field to the cases with inhomogeneous phantom (patients) and irregular fields. The effective field size is calculated by finding the field size that produces the same value of PTF to that for the irregular field and/or inhomogeneous phantom. The hypothesis is that the presence of inhomogeneity and irregular field can be accommodated to a certain extent by altering the field size. Thirdly, the center dose at the prescription depth can be computed using the new TMR($r_{p,eff}$) and Sp($r_{p,eff}$) from the effective field size. After that, when TMR(d, $r_{p,eff}$) and SP($r_{p,eff}$) are acquired. the tumor dose is as follows. $$D_{center}=D_t/PTF(d_g,\;T_p){\times}(\frac{SCD}{SAD})^2{\times}BSF(r_o){\times}S_p(r_{p,eff}){\times}TMR(d,\;r_{p,eff})$$ To make certain the accuracy of this method, we checked the accuracy for the following four cases; in cases of regular or irregular field size, inhomogeneous material included, any errors made and clinical situation. The errors were within 2.3% for regular field size, 3.0% irregular field size, 2.4% when inhomogeneous material was included in the phantom, 3.8% for 6 MV when the error was made purposely, 4.7% for 10 MV and 1.8% for the measurement of a patient in clinic. It is considered that this methode can make the quality control for dose at the time of radiation therapy because it is non-invasive that makes possible to measure the doses whenever a patient is given a therapy as well as eliminates the problem for entrance or exit dose measurement.

  • The effective temperatures, $T_{eff}$ (flux) of 52 early type stars are derived from de-reddened monochromatic and integrated fluxes obtained by absolute spectrophotometry, using the method of graphical analysis pioneered by Blackwell and Shallis (1977), similar to that of Underhill (1982) and Tobin (1983). We also estimated the effective temperatures, $T_{eff}$ (comp) of the same stars by comparing their de-reddened energy distributions with those of the LTE model atmospheres by Kurucz (1979). The effective temperatures derived from these two methods are found to be in good agreement, confirming that they are effective for the estimation of effective temperatures of early type stars.

  • This paper proposed a very simple method of extracting an effective permittivity from the data of scattering parameters measured on the transmission line of coplanar waveguides in the frequency range of microwave or millimeter waves. This is an extracting method of an effective permittivity $\varepsilon$$_{eff}$ in the case of $\beta$$\ell$ =n$\pi$ (n=integer), where the value of S$_{11}$ changes abruptly following the operating frequency. The experimental value of the effective permittivity $\varepsilon$$_{eff}$ on a dielectric substrate of Rogers 4003$^{TM}$ material of $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ =3.38 showed the value of 2.042, which differs in the error of -3.4% to 8% from those calculated from the previously reported formulae. This result showed that the measurement method was very simple, as well as applied directly to the fabricated circuit patterns, even though the circuit patterns might be complicated or on the substrate of different dielectric materials.s.als.

  • In this paper, a 3-coupled microstrip line tunable bandpass filter has been designed on the basis of a tonductoriFerroelectricfDielectric (CFD) structure. This tunable filter basically exploits the fact that the increase in the bias voltage leads to the reduction of the effective dielectric constant (eon). This reduced $\varepsilon$eff shifts the center frequency (fc) to the higher value. The characteristics of designed filter are as follows; Return loss (RL) is larger than 10 dB; Insertion loss (IL) is les.i than 3.5 dB: 3-dB bandwidth (BW) is less than 1.18 GHz fc can be tuned from 25.4 GHz to 28.8 GHz over the variation of $\varepsilon$eff, from 10 to 13. Therefore, the tunability comes up to 3.4 GHz. The dimension of the filter designed is 7.0 mm ${\times}$ 5.0 nm ${\times}$ 0.5 mm.
