Development of SW Education Program for Data-Driven Problem Solving Using Micro:bit (마이크로비트를 활용한 데이터 기반 문제해결 SW교육 프로그램 개발)

  • As the Ministry of Education has introduced AI education in earnest in the 2022 revised curriculum, there is growing sympathy for the need for data-related education along with AI education. In order to develop the competence to understand and utilize artificial intelligence properly, the understanding and utilization competence of data must be based on it. In this study, a data-driven problem solving SW education program using microbit was developed by synthesizing the results of demand analysis and previous research analysis. The data-driven problem solving education program was developed with educational elements that can be applied to elementary school students among the contents of data science. Through the program developed in this study, education that combines various topics and subjects can be linked based on real-life data. Furthermore, based on an understanding of data, it will lay the foundation for a more substantial AI education program.

Factors Influencing Respect for Life and Will of Korean Nursing Students (간호대학생의 생명존중의지에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the willingness of nursing college students to have respect for life and to use them as basic principle to help develop an effective bioethics education program for nursing students. A descriptive study was used with 442 nursing students. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Multiple regression. The result showed that factors affecting respect for life and will were meanings of death, death anxiety, death concern and these three variables explained about 43.6% of respect for life and will. It is necessary for nursing students to understand the meaning of death and to reduce death anxiety by improving understanding of meanings of death. It also suggests the need to develop an educational program that can improve the respect for life and will by establishing their own views on death and improving the involvement of death in nursing a dying patient and family.

Engineering College Students' Experience of Online Discussion Activities Using the Visual Dashboards (공과대학 학생들의 시각적 대시보드를 활용한 온라인 토론활동 경험)

  • As online learning continues to be extended, many engineering colleges are engaged in online learning activities. One of the core competencies required of engineering students in a knowledge-convergence society is communication skills. Online discussion activities are frequently used in educational field to improve communication skills. Efforts are being made to provide visual dashboards in online discussion activity systems to more effectively support online discussion activities. However there is less qualitative studies on students' experience in discussion activities. The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of engineering students participating in discussion activities using online discussion systems and visual dashboards. We interviewed 15 students who participated in online discussion activities to achieve their research objectives about their experience in utilizing the online discussion system, their perception of visual dashboards, and their experience in discussion activities. As a result of the study, students' perception of the use of the online discussion activity system, the visual dashboard, and the perception of a sense of social presence were understood. To be more effective in providing tool support, such as discussion activity systems and visual dashboards in online discussion activities, instructors need to understand the nature of learners' online discussion activities.

The Mediating Effects of Difficulties in Emotion Regulation between Anger Expression and Interpersonal Problems of College Students (분노표현과 대인관계문제에서 정서조절곤란의 매개효과)

  • This study identifies the relationship between the anger expression and interpersonal problems of college students, and then confirms the influence on emotion regulation difficulties as a mediating effect. And, it was conducted to understand college students who complain of interpersonal problems and to provide basic data for developing programs that can solve their problems. As a result of the study, anger expression showed a positive correlation in interpersonal relations problem and emotion regulation difficulty, and interpersonal relations problem showed somewhat high positive correlation with emotion regulation difficulty. In addition, it was found that emotion control difficulties were partially mediated in the anger expression among college students and interpersonal relationships. In conclusion, we could see the need for future research to develop educational programs that reduce the difficulty of emotion control and lead to positive anger expression among college students, and intervention programs that can improve interpersonal relationships.

  • Modular Construction is regarded as having enhanced safety compared to traditional construction since most of modular manufacturing process in plants. Unlike general consideration for safety in modular construction, several industrial accident data and studies have pointed out that the accident rate of modular construction is not enough less as much as the practitioners have expected. It means that there is a clear need for improvement of safety management in modular construction. To enhance safety, it is necessary to identify the type and cause of accident through accident cases in order to prevent safety accident in advance. In this consideration, this study analyzed the types and causes of accidents through root cause analysis procedure with accident cases of U.S. OSHA. The classification was carried out in the order of process type, accident type and cause of accident. By following the classification criteria in this study, the causal factor was derived and the root cause map was created. Based on the analysis results, cross-analysis was conducted and it is shown that activity characteristics of modular construction are related to safety accidents. In addition, prevention methods to reduce safety accident by major activity are presented in terms of organizational, educational and technical aspects. This study contributes that the result can be used as the basic safety management in the manufacturing and construction process of modular construction.

Analysis of Cognition Levels related to Acid-Base Models in High School Science-Gifted Students (고등학교 과학영재 학생들의 산-염기 모델의 인지 수준 분석)

  • In this study, the model cognition level of high school science-gifted students about the two types of acid-base models taught in secondary schools was analyzed. In order to find out the model cognition level of students, 12 items were developed based on the acid-base reaction and the dissociation reaction of acids and bases. The subjects of the study were 95 students of two science-gifted schools. As a result of the questionnaire analysis, model cognition levels were analyzed 6 levels in the context of consistency, inconsistency, and unexplainable scope of the two models. In the acid-base reaction item, the largest percentage of students cognized only understanding of the two models. In the acid-base dissociation reaction item, they understood the two models and perceived the 'Known Ignorance' that cognizes the limitations of one model. However, there was only one student who perceived the limitations of both models and all of the 'Unknown Ignorance' that the model could not explain. Through this, we argued that there is a need for educational efforts to raise the model cognition level of science-gifted students.

  • Health is an outset of psychological, social, financial, and physical state. Several macroeconomic factors are entangled with health and mortality. Infant mortality and life expectancy are two keyguard on demographic research context on last few decades. On the other hand, foreign inflows play an unprecedent role for raising economic circulation and providing more opportunities to build a better society. The study aims to investigate the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI), economic growth, and Bangladesh's health. This study employs time-series data from 1980 to 2018. Results show, with Auto-regressive Distribute Lag (ARDL) model, that there is significant cointegration among variables. Foreign investment and economic output relate significantly and positively to health. On the contrary, education is quasi-linked with a different sign-on different model. For model validation, pitfalls of time-series multicollinearity, heteroscedasiticy, and autocorrelation are not present. Also, CUSUM and CUSUMSQ tests are validating the model as stable and fit for future prediction. Medical assessment and education need more attention from the government as well as the private sector. FDI can play a catalyst role for improving the health sector, raising opportunity in educating and creating a better lifestyle. In order to optimize foreign investment, the government should implement necessary reforms and policies.

Latent Profile Analysis of Medical Students' Use of Motivational Regulation Strategies for Online Learning (온라인 학습에서 의과대학생의 동기조절 프로파일 유형에 따른 인지학습과 학습몰입 간 관계 분석)

  • Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, the new norm of online learning has been recognized as core to medical institutions for academic continuity, and students are expected to be motivated and engaged in learning while maintaining distance from other peers and educators. To facilitate students' and educators' newly defined roles in online medical education settings, it is crucial to understand how students are actively motivated and engaged in learning. Hence, this study explored medical students' motivational regulation profiles and examined the effects of motivational regulation strategies (MRS) on cognitive learning and learning engagement for online learning. Data were collected after the end of the first semester in 2020 from a sample of 334 medical students enrolled at a public university school of medicine. Latent profile analysis indicated three subgroups with different motivational regulation profiles: the low-profile, medium-profile, and high-profile groups. Regarding different MRS patterns in the high-profile group, mastery self-talk, performance approach self-talk, and the self-consequating strategy appeared to be most applicable for regulating learners' motivation. Analysis of variance showed that the profile groups with higher levels of MRS use were connected to a higher willingness to use cognitive learning strategies and a higher degree of engagement in online learning. The findings of this study emphasize the use of specific sets of MRS to support learning motivation and the need to design effective self-regulated learning environments in online medical education settings.

Opinions of dental hygienists on the advanced dental hygienist system (전문치과위생사제도에 대한 견해)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to provide basic data to lay the groundwork for the introduction of an advanced dental hygienist system by sampling dental hygienists' views about the system. Methods: A nationwide questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 857 dental hygienists working at dental hospitals and clinics, local health institutions, and educational institutions. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) (Duncan as post-analysis), and crossover analysis. Results: The average interest level in the advanced dental hygienist system was 3.83±0.95 points. The necessity by field was confirmed to be the highest during dental hygiene for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The working experience necessary for becoming a specialized dental hygienist is 5.56±2.99 (years). The education period necessary for becoming a specialized dental hygienist is 77.30±77.61 (hours). The work authority level for an advanced dental hygienist was indicated to be 50 respondents (5.8%), who said they required direct guidance from a dentist, 313 respondents (48.2%) who said they needed indirect guidance from a dentist, 200 respondents (23.3%) who said OK when given an advanced dental hygienist's separate judgment, 194 respondents (22.6%), who said that the authority must be varied depending on the work. Conclusions: The interest and need of the advanced dental hygienist system were proven to be high and are expected to be applied to basic data for the introduction and settlement of the system.

Effect of Dental Hygiene Students' Knowledge and Attitudes towards Tuberculosis and Tuberculosis Infection Prevention Behavior (치위생과 학생의 결핵에 대한 지식 및 태도가 결핵감염 예방행위에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: The present study aimed to gather basic data for the development of an educational tuberculosis prevention program for prospective dental hygienists by understanding the level of knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors related to tuberculosis for students in the Department of Dental Hygiene, who need preventive access to tuberculosis infection. Methods: The present study used a self-reported questionnaire on knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors regarding tuberculosis, which was administered to dental hygiene students attending D University located in D city. Results: The average knowledge regarding tuberculosis was 16.17 ± 6.14, out of 30 points. Attitude regarding tuberculosis averaged 48.59 points (± 4.46), out of 60 points, and the degree of preventive behavior was 46.29 points (± 5.0), out of 60 points. Third year students ranked highest for knowledge regarding, attitude toward, and infection prevention behaviors of tuberculosis, compared to those in their first or second year (F = 7.20, p = 0.000). Those who had experienced tuberculosis themselves or with their relatives had higher attitudes toward tuberculosis than those who did not (F = 2.32, p = 0.02). Additionally, the higher the knowledge (β = 0.209, p = 0.004) and attitude (β = 0.425, p = 0.000) about tuberculosis, the higher the level of tuberculosis infection prevention behavior. Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it appears to be necessary to provide practical education to ensure that all students in dental hygiene are equipped with knowledge about tuberculosis, and that as a dental hygienist in carrying out dental hygiene management with a changed attitude, the act of preventing tuberculosis infection can be appropriately performed.
