남북한 주민의 건강수준 비교연구 (Comparative Study of the Health Status of Two Koreas)

  • Objectives : This study was designed to compare North Korea and South Korea in measures of the quality of life (physical quality of life index and human development index) and to investigate the impact of selected medical and socioeconomic factors on PQL variables. Data and Methods : The World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, and Population Reference Bureau were the principal sources of statistical data of 121 countries. Variables included infant mortality, life expectancy at birth, literacy rate, secondary school enrollment (male and female), GNP per capita, population per doctor, daily calorie supply per capita, and a composite PQL index. The Ordinary Least Square model was employed for cross-countries analysis. Findings : Both countries under quite different political and economic systems saw big improvememts in the quality of life, reducing mortality and prolonging life expectancy during the past three decades. In recent decad, however, North Korea has experienced abrupt exacerbation in the quality of life. Significant improvements in infant mortality of the population wer attributable mainly to GNP per capita and the secondary school enrollemt of female. The principal predictors of life expectancy at birth were population per doctor, infant mortality, and literacy rate. The secondary school enrollment of female and population per doctor were significantly associated with improvements in the physical quality of life index (PQLI). Conclusion : The results of this study confirmed a point illustrated by other studies : The association between quality of life as a measure of health status and socioeconomic factors was strong and positive. The important contribution of educational attainment in general, female education level in particular to improvements in the quality of life deserves good news for building an integrated health care system in the reunified Korea, taking into account the high level of education two koreas are enjoying. Meanwhile, when a sharp drop in the quality of life has been observed in North Korea under serious economic difficulties and food shortage in recent decade, the significant contribution of economic development to improvements in the quality of life poses bad nows for reunifying Korean health care in economic terms.

수학 교수 효능감 측정 도구 개발 연구 (The Development of Mathematics Teaching Efficacy Instrument)

  • 본 연구는 수학 교사들의 교사로서의 자기 효능감을 효과적으로 측정하기 위해, 수학교사의 효능감에 영향을 주는 요소를 문헌 연구를 통하여 추출하고, 효능감 측정을 위한 도구를 개발하는 것이다. 수학교사의 교수효능감에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인으로 수학 교수 효능기대, 수학 교수 결과기대, 교수학적 내용 지식, 학생에 대한 교사의 신념, 교사의 과거 수학학습 경험에 대한 신념, 사회문화적 영향에 대한 기대라는 6가지 요소를 도출하였고, 이러한 요인에 기반하여 30문항으로 구성된 수학 교수 효능감 측정 도구(MTEI)를 개발하였다.

Factors Affecting Student Performance in E-Learning: A Case Study of Higher Educational Institutions in Indonesia

  • This study aims to determine the factors influencing student performance using the teaching and learning process through e-learning based on the unified theory of acceptance and use technology (UTAUT). This study also sets out to propose additional variables to expand the UTAUT model to be more suitable to use in higher education. This research conducted a literature review, expert interviews, and a self-administered survey involving 200 students at tertiary institutions in Riau province, Indonesia. The questionnaire data were analyzed using SmartPLS 2. This study shows that UTAUT constructs, namely, social influence, facility conditions, and effort expectancy have a significant influence on student behavior and performance, while the performance expectancy variable shows no significant effect. The additional variables, including lecturer characteristics, external motivation, and organizational structure, directly affect student performance. However, concerning student behavior, motivation and environment are the only variables with a significant effect. The results of this study suggest the behavior deteminant such as lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure improve student performance. This study investigates factors affecting the performance of university students through the learning employing e-learning by developing the UTAUT constructs to include the lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure in improving student performance.

M-Learning Systems Usage: A Perspective from Students of Higher Educational Institutions in Sri Lanka

  • Mobile devices have become attractive learning devices for education. The digitalization of the higher education system in Sri Lanka by 2020 is part of the government's effort to modernize and enhance the country's overall education system particularly in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Theoretically, this study contributes to the M-Learning model in higher education institutions via the integration of literature on technology adoption (TAM and UTAUT) with the variables of Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Condition. The attitude towards M-Learning amongst higher education students was gauged via an online questionnaire survey. The convenience sample comprised 344 students from the Advanced Technological Institutes (ATI) in Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka. Descriptive statistics, a measurement, and structural model, and hypotheses testing were used to analyze the derived data. The findings indicate that mobile learning is significantly affected by perceived ease of use, social influence, effort expectancy, and facilitating condition, but negatively affected by attitude and perceived usefulness. The exhaustive literature review revealed that there are very few M-Learning studies related to digital learning in the context of higher education in the Batticaloa district.

대학 수업에서의 SNS 활용에 대한 연구: 경험자와 비경험자 학습자의 비교 (A Study on the use of SNS in college education: A Comparison of experienced learner and non-experienced learner)

  • Dramatic transformation in education has taken place and Internet Technologies have played a key role. Especially SNS has been considered as an effective educational tool because of its exceptional features such as discussion on course topics, feedback from peers and group collaboration. The purpose of this paper is to investigate factors affecting the attitude, intention to continuous use of SNS and performance in college education comparing between experienced learner and non-experienced learner. Self-efficacy on media usage, educational expectancy, subjective norm, habit, and enjoyment were identified as affecting factors based on prior researches. The results shows that all factors are significantly related to the learner's attitude on the use of SNS in college education. Experienced learner's attitude on educational use of SNS in college was found to be significantly related to the intention to continuous use and performance. This study can provide a guideline of effective strategy for SNS utilization in college education.

가족기업의 가계재정상태와 기업재정상태 분석 (The Financial Status of Household and Business in the Family Business)

  • The purpose of this study were to identify the financial status of the home based business, and to analyze the factors effected on it. The sample consisted of 713 self-employed from data of 1998 Korea Household Panel Study, and analyzed into Frequencies, Percentile, t-test, $\varkappa$$^2$-test, and Regression Analysis. The findings showed that the household income and expenditure level of female self-employed was higher than those of male self-employed. In case of financial status of business, male self-employed's net profit was higher than female's and the net profit to total sales ratio of male self-employed was greater than female's. The factors contributing to total expenditure to total income ratio were sex, educational level, future economic expectancy, residence and home ownership of self-employed, while the factor effect on total asset to total debt ratio was only total household income. The Variables of sex, educational level of self- employed, job type of home based business and the number of employees in home based business were associated with net profit to total sales ratio, age and educational level of serif-employed, and job type of home based business was related to total sales to the number of emploees ratio(labor productivity).

SNS 활용 요인이 학습자의 태도와 성과에 미치는 영향 연구: 대학 수업을 중심으로 (A Study on the Effect of Affecting Factors of SNS on Learner's Attitude and Performance: Focused on University Class)

  • SNS는 의사소통의 도구 뿐 아니라 대학 교육에까지 스며들고 있으며, SNS의 효과적인 활용을 위해 다양한 교수학습 모형과 방법에 대한 시도가 이뤄지고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구는 대학 수업에서의 SNS 활용이 학습자의 태도, 지속적 이용 의도 및 성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고자 하는 것이다. 기존 연구를 토대로 매체활용 효능감, 교육적 기대가치, 주관적 규범, 습관, 즐거움을 학습자의 SNS 활용 요인으로 도출하였다. 수도권 대학생을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 실증분석을 실시하였다. Smart PLS를 이용한 구조방정식 분석 결과에 따르면 교육적 기대가치, 주관적 규범, 즐거움은 SNS 활용에 대한 학습자의 태도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만 매체활용 효능감과 습관은 그렇지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 학습자의 태도는 향후 지속적인 이용 의도와 학습 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 대학 수업에서의 SNS의 활용은 학습자의 긍정적 태도를 야기하고 나아가 성적에도 영향을 미친다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 대학 교육 환경에서 SNS 활용에 대한 지침을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

우리나라 예방의학교육의 미래: 희망과 도전 (Future of Preventive Medicine Education in Korea: Hopes and Challenges)

  • Throughout the century, based on the precedent set by Flexner in the United States, almost every subsequent report on the reform of medical education has pointed out the need for more prevention-oriented teaching in the curriculum. This has been particularly so in countries like Korea where the basic public health services have been so important for the improvement of health of the people. And, in fact, preventive medicine and public health have contributed a great deal to the prevention of communicable diseases and prolongation of life expectancy. Recently, however, along with the educational reform that emphasizing the interdisciplinary teaching, integration of basic science and clinical education, and centralization of responsibility for the medical education curriculum, concerns are being voiced by preventive medicine educators. These concerns are primarily centered around the fear that the implementation of interdisciplinary, centrally administered courses would result in a weakening of content and teaching expertise as well as a loss of departmental power and control. This paper foresees that preventive medicine and public health will be more important in Korea in the future and proposes that preventive medicine educators will have to step forward and turn the challenges of curricula restructuring into opportunities to expand the role of preventive medicine in the curricula of their institutions.

교육용 온라인 게임의 교육적 요소 분석 - 레알팜 게임을 중심으로 - (Analysis of Educational Elements of Educational Online Games - Focused on Real Farm Games -)

  • 진흥원의 조사에 따르면 많은 사람들이 스마트폰 게임을 한다. 스트레스 해소, 시간을 때우기 위한 이유다. 한국 게임 시장에서 모바일게임과 교육의 접목을 위한 시도가 계속되고 있다. 상업용 게임을 교육에 활용하면 효과가 있다는 연구 결과가 있다. 또한 교육용게임의 활성화를 위한 연구도 늘고 있다. 교육용게임을 만들려면 많은 시간과 비용이 필요하다. 모바일게임의 특성상 업데이트가 지속되지 않고 금새 서비스가 종료되는 경우가 많다. 모바일게임을 하면서 자연스럽게 교육적인 부분을 습득할 수 있다면 재미와 교육, 이 두 가지를 한 번에 얻을 수 있는 일석이조의 효과를 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이에 시뮬레이션 농장게임인 '레알팜'을 대상으로 게임의 교육적 요소에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 시뮬레이션의 특징인 간접체험을 통한 정보 습득 및 활용부분의 분석에 중점을 두었고, 교육용게임의 설계요소를 바탕으로 교육적인 요소를 찾아보았다. 이는 게임의 긍정적인 부분과 기존 출시된 게임에도 교육적인 부분이 있음을 알릴 수 있다. 스마트폰만 있다면 언제, 어디서든 즐길 수 있다는 장점을 교육적으로 적극 활용한다면 게임에 대한 긍정적인 인식이 늘 것이며 모바일 게임의 평균 수명 증가도 기대해 볼 수 있다.

A Preliminary Study of Financial Management Assistance Use by the Elderly in the U.S.

  • Due to increasing life expectancy, Americans live nearly 20 years after retirement. During this period, elderly persons have to stretch finances to manage the level of living without earnings. However, decision making ability decreases with age. One coping strategy for this problem would be seeking help from others. We examine factors affecting elderly persons' assistance use with respect to financial management using the 2000 Health and Retirement Study (N=3,823). It was found that age, education, health status, and ethnicity significantly affect elderly persons' financial management assistance use. The older-olds, those with lower educational attainment and poorer health status were more likely to use financial management assistance. However, Hispanic elderly were less likely to use financial management assistance.
