  • This paper proposes an intelligent method for the optimal load distribution of two cooperating robots(TCRs) using fuzzy logic. The proposed scheme requires the knowledge of the robots' dynamics, which in turn depend upon the characteristics of large flat panel displays(LFPDs) carried by the TCRs. However, the dynamic properties of the LFPD are not known exactly, so that the dynamics of the robots, and hence the required joint torque, must be calculated for nominal set of the LFPD characteristics. The force of the TCRs is an important factor in carrying the LFPD. It is divided into external force and internal force. In general , the effects of the internal force of the TCRs are not considered in performing the load distribution in terms of optimal time, but they are essential in optimal trajectory planning: if they are not taken into consideration, the optimal scheme is no longer fitting. To alleviate this deficiency, we present an algorithm for finding the internal-force factors for the TCRs in terms of optimal time. The effectiveness of the proposed system is demonstrated by computer simulations using two three-joint planner robot manipulators.

장노년층을 위한 로봇 활용 교육의 사용성 평가 지표 개발 및 평가 분석 - 휴머노이드 로봇 'LiKU'의 콘텐츠 사례 (Development of Evaluation Indicators and Analysis of Usability on Learning with a Robot for the Elderly - the case of Content using the Humanoid Robot 'LiKU')

  • 가속화 되고 있는 노령화로 인해 장노년층의 디지털 격차 문제는 점점 심화되고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위한 다양한 스마트 기기 활용 교육이 이루어지고 있지만 기존 강사 대면 교육의 한계와 장노년층의 학습적 특징 등으로 큰 효과를 기대하기는 어려운 실정이다. 이에 장노년층을 위한 휴머로이드 로봇을 활용한 디지털 교육 콘텐츠가 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 로봇을 활용한 디지털 교육의 사용성을 평가하기 위하여, 먼저 교육 콘텐츠의 사용성을 분석하고, 그 측정지표를 효율성, 이해성, 운영성, 학습성 그리고 만족성으로 정의하였다. 그리고 각 측정지표의 측정방법을 개발하여, 이를 기반으로 기존 대면 교육과 로봇을 활용한 교육의 사용성 평가를 실시함으로써 로봇 활용 교육의 사용성을 검증하고, 그 활용 영역의 확대 가능성을 확인하였다. 발전하고 있는 로봇 기술을 다양한 분야에 성공적으로 적용하기 위해서는 로봇 활용 콘텐츠의 사용성 검증이 필수적이며, 이러한 측정지표 및 측정방법에 대한 연구는 그 기초가 될 것으로 기대된다.

텔레프레즌스 로봇을 통한 권리행사의 세대간 수용성 격차 (Generation Gap of Expected Rights through Telepresence Robots)

  • There exists a popular belief that the elderly are more conservative than the younger people in acceptability of new technology. This study explores whether the generation gap in technology acceptance exists in the case of using telepresence robots, which project the presence and mobility of remote operator, for the universal purpose of social participation rather than for specific applications. Two groups of senior citizens and undergraduate students in their twenties personally experienced the telepresence robots operation and conducted a survey on how they perceived the social participation of a remote operator mediated by telepresence robot and to what extent the remote operator deserve equal rights to be treated as if one really exists in the local environment. The results show that the elderly have higher expectation on the role and functions of telepresence robots, and more favorable in principle for a remote operator to exercise equal rights by operating telepresence robot. It suggests that the stereotypes, the elderly lag behind younger generation in accepting new technology, is unlikely to fit into the telepresence robot market, for the elderly have more favor and support using telepresence robots as an universal avatar for social participation.

  • In this paper we present the guideline to evaluate the easiness of using personal robots and their learning abilities based on the analysis of their built-in commands, user interfaces, and intelligences. Recently, we are breathing with robots that can be able to do lots of roles. cleaning, security, pets and education in real life. They can be classified as home robots, guide robots, service robots, robot pets, and so on. There are, however, no standards to evaluate their ability, so it is not easy to select an appropriate robot when a user wants to buy it. Thus, we present, as a guideline that can be a standard for the evaluation of the personal robots, the standards by means of analyzing existing personal robots and results of the recent research works. We will, also, describe how to apply the evaluation method th the personal robot.

Fuzzy-based Path Planning for Multiple Mobile Robots in Unknown Dynamic Environment

  • This paper presents a path planning problem for multi-robot system in the environment with dynamic obstacles. In order to guide the robots move along a collision-free path efficiently and reach the goal position quickly, a navigation method based on fuzzy logic controllers has been developed by using proximity sensors. There are two kinds of fuzzy controllers developed in this work, one is used for obstacle avoidance and the other is used for orientation to the target. Both static and dynamic obstacles are included in the environment and the dynamic obstacles are defined with no type of restriction of direction and velocity. Here, the environment is unknown for all the robots and the robots should detect the surrounding information only by the sensors installed on their bodies. The simulation results show that the proposed method has a positive effectiveness for the path planning problem.

초등 정규 교육과정에서 교구 로봇 활용 교육의 가능성 탐색 (Exploring on Possibility of Learning with Robots in the Elementary School Curriculum)

  • 로봇 교육의 활성화와 로봇 시장의 확장을 위해 지식경제부에서 실시한 2010년 시장검증 시범서비스사업(지능형 로봇 보급 및 확산사업)의 일환으로 본 연구에서는 초등 정규 교육과정에서 교구로봇활용교육의 가능성을 탐색해 보았다. 이를 위해 교구로봇을 분류한 선행 연구를 바탕으로 교구로봇활용교육에 대한 정의를 내리고 교구로봇활용교육에 대한 연구들을 살펴보았다. 초등 정규 교육과정에서 로봇활용교육을 위해 우선시되어야 하는 것으로 교수-학습과정안의 개발을 들고 이를 추진하도록 하였다. 이를 위해 로봇활용교육을 실시함에 있어서 현장의 한계와 로봇교육의 특성을 고려하여 형태와 활용 목적에 따라 교구로봇을 세분화하여 분류하였다. 또한 2009 개정 교육과정을 고려하여 교수-학습 과정안 개발의 방향을 첫째, '인지적 영역-정의적 영역-창의성' 신장, 둘째, 통합교육의 형태, 셋째, 현장 일반화의 용이성, 넷째. 학습목표와 교구로봇활용과의 개연성, 다섯째, 학생 간의 상호작용이 활발한 수업 방법 지향성으로 정하고 이에 맞는 교구로봇활용교육 교수-학습 과정안의 예시를 제시하였다. 개발된 과정안은 2010년 하반기에 서울 소재 초등학교에 적용될 것이며 이후 교육적 효과에 대한 평가를 창의성을 중심으로 실시할 계획이다. 로봇활용교육이 초등 정규 교육과정에서 활발히 이루어지기 위해서는 현장 교사들이 수업에 손쉽게 적용할 수 있는 지도안 개발이 활성화되어야 할 것이며 이와 함께 이론적 연구도 계속되어야 할 것이다. 또한 교사를 포함한 교육 당국과 로봇 관련 기업의 의사소통이 원활히 이루어져 손쉽게 정규 교육과정에 적용할 수 있는 다양한 로봇의 개발도 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 마지막으로 로봇을 통해 인간과 이를 둘러싼 세계에 대한 근본적인 호기심을 자극할 수 있도록 하는 것도 교구로봇활용교육의 또 다른 기대효과라 할 수 있을 것이다.

예비치과위생사의 로봇활용에 대한 태도 (A study on the attitude toward robot utilization in dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting robot utilization in the education of pre-dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 238 dental hygiene students studying in the Daejeon, Chungcheong, and Jeolla provinces during the period March 1-31, 2017. Results: Future oral health education media had high selection of 'movies,' 'video,' '3D printer,' 'robot,' and 'drone' In general education and oral health education, robots were appropriate as educators, assistant teachers, and media. This group had high levels of interest, experience, attitude, and learning scope of robots. Robot utilization education showed a significant positive correlation with the 'interest,' 'experience,' 'attitude,' and 'learning' subfactors (p<0.01). Factors influencing robot utilization education were the relationships among actual experience of robot, learning of robot production, social influence of robot, emotional exchange with robot, and the predictive power was 25.5% (p<0.05). Conclusions: Oral health education curricula using robots should be developed considering the emotional exchange and social influence between educator and learner.

Comparative Study on the Educational Use of Home Robots for Children

  • Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), based on already well-researched Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), has been under vigorous scrutiny since recent developments in robot technology. Robots may be more successful in establishing common ground in project-based education or foreign language learning for children than in traditional media. Backed by its strong IT environment and advances in robot technology, Korea has developed the world's first available e-Learning home robot. This has demonstrated the potential for robots to be used as a new educational media - robot-learning, referred to as 'r-Learning'. Robot technology is expected to become more interactive and user-friendly than computers. Also, robots can exhibit various forms of communication such as gestures, motions and facial expressions. This study compared the effects of non-computer based (NCB) media (using a book with audiotape) and Web-Based Instruction (WBI), with the effects of Home Robot-Assisted Learning (HRL) for children. The robot gestured and spoke in English, and children could touch its monitor if it did not recognize their voice command. Compared to other learning programs, the HRL was superior in promoting and improving children's concentration, interest, and academic achievement. In addition, the children felt that a home robot was friendlier than other types of instructional media. The HRL group had longer concentration spans than the other groups, and the p-value demonstrated a significant difference in concentration among the groups. In regard to the children's interest in learning, the HRL group showed the highest level of interest, the NCB group and the WBI group came next in order. Also, academic achievement was the highest in the HRL group, followed by the WBI group and the NCB group respectively. However, a significant difference was also found in the children's academic achievement among the groups. These results suggest that home robots are more effective as regards children's learning concentration, learning interest and academic achievement than other types of instructional media (such as: books with audiotape and WBI) for English as a foreign language.

저가형 3D프린팅 2축 압력 센서 개발 (Development of Low-cost 3D Printing Bi-axial Pressure Sensor)

  • As various mobile robots and manipulator robots have been commercialized, robots that can be used by individuals in their daily life have begun to appear. With the development of robots that support daily life, the interaction between robots and humans is becoming more important. Manipulator robots that support daily life must perform tasks such as pressing buttons or picking up objects safely. In many cases, this requires expensive multi-axis force/torque sensors to measure the interaction. In this study, we introduce a low-cost two-axis pressure sensor that can be applied to manipulators for education or research. The proposed system used three force sensitive resistor (FSR) sensors and the structure was fabricated by 3D printing. An experimental device using a load cell was constructed to measure the biaxial pressure. The manufactured prototype was able to distinguish the +-x-axis and the +-y-axis pressures.

2015 개정 실과 교과서 '로봇 활용 교육' 단원 탐구성 비교 분석 (Inquisitive Tendency Comparative Analysis on the 'Education with Robots' Units in the 2015 Revised Practical Arts Textbook)

  • 본 논문에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 개발된 6종의 실과 교과서 중 '로봇 활용 교육' 단원의 탐구성을 Romey 분석법을 활용하여 현장에서 이루어질 교과서 채택, 교육과정 연구, 차기 교과서 개발 시에 참고할 수 있는 시사점을 제공하였다. 선행 연구를 분석한 결과 초등학교 '로봇 활용 교육' 단원의 경우, 중·고등학교 교과서 연구에서 활발하게 진행되는 탐구성 분석이 미비한 것으로 파악되었다. 따라서 4차산업 혁명시대를 살아갈 우리 아이들에게 탐구형 교과서가 필요하다는 판단 하에 Romey 분석법을 활용하여 교과서 내용을 분석하였다. 교과서를 분석한 결과, 모든 분석요소에서 탐구적 성향을 갖춘 이상적인 교과서는 없었으며 전체 교과서에서 탐구적 성향이 가장 낮은 분석요소는 본문이었으며, 가장 높은 분석요소는 활동이었다.
