  • The purpose of this study was to find out the difficulties of teaching the chapter on 'ight', experience of learning, teaching methods, and thinking types of 10 science teachers of the master's course in chemistry education. Discussion course for abduction thinking was carried out during 12 hours after the interview. Data were collected from individual interviews of 4 teachers among the 10 subjects and from the reports of the science teachers after the discussion course. From the data, it was found that most of the science teachers had suffered difficulty in teaching the chapter on light before the discussion course. Most of them had tried to teach drawing the path of light, but there was little teaching effect. Their teaching methods were similar to the method of what they had learned. During the course, the teachers recognized they could not see the path of light directly, and it needed inferring from image. From the abduction thinking, the teachers recognized the meaning of image and gained concrete methods in teaching students.

  • Action learning is a teaching method that is taught through the process of finding real problems and finding solutions. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of action learning for the college course 'media education for children' which was offered by the Department of Child Psychology and Education at S university in Seoul. According to the process of action learning suggested by Marquardt(2000), college students developed the problem of children's news literacy education and set the purpose, goal and contents of news literacy and developed teaching and learning method for the 6th grade elementary students and applied it to the education field. The college students' evaluation about the action learning lesson were collected by questionnaire and verbal. They found that active and voluntary problem-solving and field application through action learning helped to achieve the goals of the children's media education class. Finally, the importance of close cooperation with the educational field and of appropriate feedback were discussed as a necessary condition of action learning teaching method.

  • Based upon mail survey method, this empirical research aims to compare the CAD education in four countries in terms of education conditions, education methods, and education performance. Results show that Korea is similar to Japan in many ways, while it differ from U.S.A. or Germany in several respects. Putting less importance in CAD course, Korean professors of CAD were found to be relatively young and deficient of teaching experience and/or industrial experience. And CAD course, which is not compulsory but elective one, is taught in a more crowded (junior) class with less satisfactory hardware and software. In the education goal or contents, the CAD courses in Korea lack real world problems or applications, concentrating less on students-based or problem-based learning methods than Germany or U.S.A.. Consequently, Korean CAD education is outperformed by German or U.S. one in educational performance both in skill improvement and in attitude enhancement.

  • This paper deals with the introduction of capstone design project by team activities in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Korea Maritime University. This course is referred to as Creative Engineering Design for spring semester of 4th-year undergraduates. The course focuses on creative thinking and cooperative mind to students by learning engineering design skills, realizing their idea through design project and recognizing practicality of their systems. The intent of the course is to provide a true "capstone" experience, where students can combine their skills to achieve the successful completion of a project. This paper describes class process and evaluation method, and cooperative works with mentees and industrial mentors connected through Hanium network for IT mentoring activities.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to analyze research papers using movies and to introduce a practical instruction in cinema education for nurse educators in Korea. Method: The computerized database of PubMed, Google scholar, NDSL, CINAHL, and PsychINFO were used to generate relevant literature. Sixteen studies were published between 1990 and 2011 and were included in this review. These papers were analyzed using the matrix method suggested by Garrad (2007). Results: The first paper using movies in nursing education was performed in 1995. There were 16 studies on this issue and classified into one qualitative and 15 quantitative research. Because psychiatric mental health nursing was the main course, movies relating to mental illness were mainly considered. Most papers used questionnaires developed by researchers and discussions regarding the course. The key findings in these papers were all positive. Conclusion: The critics and syntheses in these papers emerged into seven overarching merits of cinema education and that lead to conduct cinema education to deepen students' understanding and to evoke empathy, critical thinking, entertainment, and intimacy. In addition, cinema education was safe and economical. This study recommends discovering suitable films and developments in both instruction process and educational evaluation tools.

  • Edutainment as a new form of educational method is being combined with the education and entertainment, which has possibility of open education improving learning effect for students who are interested in entertaining and studying at the same time. Film education, one of edutainment, offers a new paradigm of alternative educational method using of education as well as playing Therefore, this study will discuss about the purpose and effective forms of film education that should have for edutainment goal. Furthermore, this study offers educational examples of film program which are used for teaching for students. This study mostly suggests diverse educational matter and focuses on researching film education efficacy.

  • The education of building services field at university is not enough, although the field has become to be very important in architectural engineering. This lack of education is one of the reason that the level of domestic building services field is lower than that in developed countries. Present conditions of related laws, fields of work after graduation and education at university in building services field have been studied, and education conditions have been investigated divided into four-year architectural engineering course and five-year architecture course. Though building services field has become more important at university education, the number of credits and professor of the field is still small than other fields of architectural engineering. More practical curriculums are necessary to meet the expectation of companies, and it will be one of the method to meet it that criteria of curriculum constitution is according to ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) in more architectural engineering department.

  • This research is a survey study on students' attitude toward a class employing small group discussion and presentation by the method of free-listing. Participants in this study were students who registered in the course of Mathematical Logics and Writing during 2011 and 2014. Senior students who took the course of theory of mathematics education previously usually registered the course. The class for this course used to be designed as a class adopting group discussion and presentation. Main theme of this research is not to demonstrate some theories or hypothesis on teaching and learning, but rather to inquire students' attitude toward a class employing the constituents first and then through analyzing the results of this study to find practical ideas and strategy for design and implementation of a class which brings cultivation of students' understanding, communication and moreover writing in mathematics. Since the survey was given in the $8^{th}$ week of this class, participants of this research could be expected to have more concrete idea for positive or negative aspects of the classes employing these constituents. We compared both research results of 2011 and 2014 to view any changes in students' attitude. Research results are follows. Students began to think that group discussions and presentation bring out better learning to them. Not to give students psychological burden of discussion and presentation, instructors need to provide comfortable atmosphere through arranging suitable grouping and enough time for discussion. Moreover, simple evaluations criteria for group discussions and presentation should be well structured and more concrete guides for them are required to make students to feel comfortable and to concentrate on the given subject for discussion.

  • Education paradigm is moved from traditional face-to-face method to cyber education environment. Therefore, we extracted the components of cyber education system and their detail functions through analysis on the workflow of education and learning standard technology. In addition, we think that template system will make a big role in order to deploy the cyber education system. Therefore, we designed the template system for cyber education. In this paper, we particularly describe both evaluation funrtion on course learning records and statistics function ell evaluation records.

  • Collaborative filtering is a method to predict preference items of a user based on the evaluations of items provided by others with similar preferences. Collaborative filtering helps general people make smart decisions in today's information society where information can be easily accumulated and analyzed. We designed, implemented, and evaluated a course recommendation system experimentally. This system can help university students choose courses they prefer to. Firstly, the system needs to collect the course preferences from students and store in a database. Users showing similar preference patterns are considered into similar groups. We use Pearson correlation as a similarity measure. We select K-nearest students to predict the unknown preferences of the student and provide a ranked list of courses based on the course preferences of K-nearest students. We evaluated the accuracy of the recommendation by computing the mean absolute errors of predictions using a survey on the course preferences of students.
