  • Radio frequency identification(RFID) is a system of technology that transmits digitally coded identity information in the form of a unique serial number of an object or person wirelessly, using radio waves. The primary use of RFID has been in asset tracking. This makes it highly useful across various industries for effective and efficient conduct of different business processes like supply chain management (SCM). As the use of RFID expands, the use of this technology is observed in such industries as transportation, traffic payment, hospital and medical care, education, and retail. Although this technology offers immense potential, it faces multifarious roadblocks, particularly in developing countries like India. Under this backdrop, this paper attempts to present an overview of the use and application RFID technology in India with a highlight on business-ecosystem for RFID in India. We also present various technical and non-technical challenges in the implementation of RFID in India.

  • Intestinal parasitic infections remain a serious public health problem globally and have usually been associated with human malnutrition. This study was performed to observe the present status of intestinal helminthes infections among the primary school children in Iksan, Korea, during the period from June to August, 2006. A total of 974 fecal samples (male 479, female 495) were collected and examined by formalin-ether sedimentation technique for intestinal helminthes eggs. Of the 974 samples examined, 2 (0.2%) were egg positive for intestinal helminthes, and only eggs of Clonorchis sinensis were observed in the 2 cases. These C. sinensis egg were found in grade 5 (male, 1 case) and grade 6 (female, 1 case), respectively. The egg positive rate of male and female were 0.2%, respectively. Through this survey, I found that the C. sinensis infection is prevalent among primary school children in Iksan, Jeonbuk, and a continuous health education for school children is recommended to prevent the potential infection of C. sinensis.

  • In this study, the potential possibility of biodiesel fuel was investigated as an alternative fuel for a naturally aspirated indirect injection diesel engine. The smoke emission of biodiesel fuel was reduced remarkably in comparison with diesel fuel, that is, it was reduced approximately 36% at 2000rpm, full load condition. And, power, torque and brake specific energy consumption showed no significant differences. However, NOx emission of biodiesel fuel was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. Also, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) to reduce the NOx emission has been investigated. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx was achieved with biodiesel fuel(20vol-%) and cooled EGR method$(10{\sim}15%)$.

  • This study is an evaluation research which examines the effectiveness of the Marriage Enrichment Program for Middle-Aged Couples(MEPM), This program focuses on the marital dyadic relationship as a family life education The MEPM was developed to strengthen the marital relationships and to improve the potential for individuals and couples. For the effectiveness of the study the author conducted previous survey research with a literature review. The Marriage Enrichment Program was delivered to eight middle-aged couples at Hotel Hilton in Kyung Joo on June 5-6 1995. Through statistical analysis the effectiveness of the MEPM was significant in the areas of couple communication problem solving ability sexual relationship accptance for the value differences and mutual respect. The study also found that changes in thinking is much slower than learning for the new skills and knowledge.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior and interest. Sleep problems are not uncommon in children with autism spectrum disorders. Symptoms of insomnia are the most frequent sleep problems in individuals with ASD. Sleep problems can cause significant difficulties in the daily life of children with ASD and their families. Genetic factor, deregulations of melatonin synthesis, extraneous environmental stimuli and psychiatric and medical conditions may cause sleep problems. The first line treatment of sleep problems in ASD includes managements for potential contributing factors and parent education about sleep hygiene care for child and behavioral therapy. Supplementation with melatonin may be effective before considering other medications, such as risperidone, clonidine, and mirtazapine.

  • We have reported the reaction probability, integral reaction cross section, and rate constant for the title system calculated with the aid of a time-dependent wave packet approach. The ab initio potential energy surface (PES) of Prudente et al. (Chem. Phys. Lett. 2009, 474, 18) is employed for the purpose. The calculations are carried out over the collision energy range of 0.05-1.4 eV for the two reaction channels of H + LiH ${\rightarrow}$ Li + $H_2$ and $H_b$ + $LiH_a$ ${\rightarrow}$ $LiH_b$ + $H_a$. The Coriolis coupling (CC) effect are taken into account. The importance of including the Coriolis coupling quantum scattering calculations are revealed by the comparison between the Coriolis coupling and the centrifugal sudden (CS) approximation calculations.

  • This report introduces Gaussian electrostatic models (GEMs) to account for charge penetration effects in water-water interactions, allowing electrostatic interactions to be accurately described. Three different Gaussian electrostatic models, GEM-3S, GEM-5S, and GEM-6S are designed with s-type Gaussian functions. The coefficients and exponents of the Gaussian functions are optimized using the electrostatic potential (ESP) fitting procedure based on that of the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ method. The electrostatic energies of ten different water dimers that were calculated with GEM-6S agree well with the results of symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT), indicating that this designed model can be effectively applied to future water models.

  • The formation of complex $XeHCl^+$ in the collision-induced reaction of $Xe^+$ with HCl has been studied by use of classical dynamics procedures using the London-Eyring-Polanyi-Sato empirical potential energy surfaces. A small fraction of trajectories on the $Xe^+$ + HCl and Xe + $HCl^+$ surfaces lead to the formation of complex $XeHCl^+$ with life-times of 1-2 ps which is long enough to survive many rotations before redissociating back to the reactant state. The formation of complex $XeHCl^+$ occurs mainly from collision angle of $\Theta$ = ${45^{\circ}}$.

  • In the process of exploring sustainable development, major cities in China are expanding metro systems as a strategy to reduce the negative environmental and social consequences of fast-paced motorization. A metro station is not only a transportation node, but also a place where diverse activities can be performed. Therefore, the realization of the spatial potential for human interaction is the essence of the strategy for integrated development in metro station areas. For this paper, 10 well-developed metro stations in Central Shanghai were selected to investigate the correlation between accessibility and spatial performance in station areas. The spatial performance in station areas is significantly affected by metro configuration. However, both vehicle and pedestrian accessibility show weak influence on spatial performance. A synergistic model was then developed to provide quantitative support for transit-oriented development in metro station areas.
