Through continuing education of dental hygienists for the job satisfaction (치과위생사의 계속교육을 통한 직무에 대한 만족도)

  • Objectives : The purpose of the study was to explorer the extent to which the dental hygienist demand for higher education. Methods : This study was done using the statistical package for social sciences 12.0 (SPSS 12.0) for windows. The results was as followed. Results : Participation continuing education 42.3%, do not attend the continuing education 57.7%. General characteristics of respondents according to education after graduation, in recognition of the existence, winning less than five years if is the most was higher with 42.9%, to 50.5% in the current academic year graduated colleges is the most highly(p<0.05). Through continuing education, improve 'self-regard and identity' $3.12{\pm}.49$ was the highest. General characteristics of subjects with continuing education in accordance with the highest satisfaction of the relevant item 'future work areas hope' has been investigated(p<0.05). Conclusions : Dental hygienists as one of professionals taking responsibility and duties on oral health need to make effort to satisfy. While they show infinite ability, possible as they can and overcome given environment and situation.

A Study on the Development of Continuing Education to Enhance the Specialization of Librarians (사서직의 전문성 제고를 위한 계속교육발전 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to took for systematic, effective ways of providing continuing education for incumbent librarians in order that they could be more specialized in their profession. For the purpose, this research performed pervious literature reach and then a questionnaire survey for the librarians to determine their service periods and opinions, requirements and suggestions about continuing education as above and the current status of the education. The result of the study can be described as below. First, few incumbent librarians generally participate in continuing education. The participation, if any, is different in degree according to types of the librarian's library and task. Second, continuing education provided by responsible agencies is seen negative in value, but relatively positive in validity. it is agreed that the education is not easy to be provided due to a lack of time. Third, individual incumbent librarians are little devoted to continuing education, although the devotion is somewhat different according to the type of library. Fourth, an absolute majority of the librarians want the establishment of an authorities exclusively assuming continuing education service and the provision of informal continuing education related to computer during their working hours or vacation period. Fifth, the librarians under survey suggests that it is necessary for the development of continuing education to establish an exclusively responsible authorities as mentioned before and a system for evaluating each of agencies providing continuing education service, implement relevant, specific programs, introduce incentives for those librarians who receive the education and thereon make studies, help and promote librarians to be trained abroad, apply new ways of continuous education and extend the range of such educational process.

  • In the era of electronic records management, today's record management environment is rapidly evolving. Therefore, this study aims to suggest improvement plans for continuing education that allows archivists to acquire knowledge and skills in the dynamic records management environment. Thus, this study analyzed an archivist's work characteristics and proved the necessity of continuing education in a changing record management environment. Furthermore, the United States' continuing education curriculum and the United Kingdom's Archives and Records Association (ARA) were analyzed. Based on this, the researchers compared and analyzed the curriculum of continuing education locally and abroad and suggested ways to improve continuing education suitable for local records professionals.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a continuing education program for children's librarian. For this. this study conducted a questionnaire survey of children's librarians on current status of the children's services, the backgrounds of children's librarians and their needs for the continuing education. Based on the survey results. this study suggested a continuing education program, including content and policy for the children's librarians.

Educational Needs Analysis for Development of Home Healthcare Nurse Specialist Education Program (가정전문간호사의 계속교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 교육요구 분석)

  • Purpose: The study analyzed continuing educational needs with the aim of developing continuing education program for home healthcare nurse specialists. Methods: A convenience sample of 101 home healthcare nurse specialists affiliated with 89 home health care agencies in Seoul, Busan, Dae-gu, Inchon, Jeonnam, Keongnam was used. Data was collected with a self-report questionnaire from May 10-31, 2010, and analyzed with descriptive statistics using SAS 9.13 program. Results: Of the participants, 88.1% reported that continuing education was necessary and 58.2% reported that the education was needed for peak job performance. The participants also reported that it would be proper if continuing education is given on a Saturday(56.4%) by home healthcare institute(49.5%) or homecare nurses association (38.6%) for 1-3 months(56.4%). The participants scored more than 3.0 in the current performance at six of the seven home healthcare nurse specialist roles, and scored more than 3.5 in the necessity of continuing education for seven roles in 47 jobs. Conclusion: Various programs for continuing education have to be developed and need to focused on the jobs needed for home healthcare nurse specialist and the most frequent disease. For this purpose, every home healthcare organization has to select their unique area and develop their own educational program. Furthemore, home healthcare nurses association has to build an education operating system that incorporates all program aspects.

A Study on the Continuing Education of Radiologic Technologists : Focused on Current Status and Satisfaction of Continuing Education (방사선사의 보수교육에 관한 연구 : 보수교육 현황 및 만족도를 중심으로)

  • In this study, we surveyed the current status, satisfaction and demand of radiologic technologist continuing education for 93 radiologic technologists who participated in the continuing education. To understand the current status and general evaluation and to find out the improvement direction, survey was conducted on 3 categories: participation, satisfaction and demand of continuing education. In addition, we analyzed the continuing education implementation status and the management system by collecting related regulations. As a result, the education completion rates of radiologic technologists from 2010 to 2012 were respectively 42.6%, 43.4% and 34.2%; the rates were similar to other medical technician's average education completion rates. According to the survey, in case of participation, the most frequent answer was 'more than five times less than 10 times per year' with 48.4% and in satisfaction section, the most common answer was 'Average(3)' with 34.4%. In demand of continuing education section, 32.8% of the respondents chose 'Clinical skill training in major field'. In the results of this research, continuing education needs to be managed in the direction of helping radiologists improve their personal ability and self development. Furthermore, to meet the demand of radiologists, the quality of continuing education should be improved to satisfy the educatee.

Continuing education for reference librarians in academic libraries (대학도서관의 참고사서을 위한 계속교육)

  • The purpose of this study is to synthesize the theoretical systems concerning the necessity, methods, contents, and institutions of the continuing education for academic reference librarians in Korea, and to present a direction after performing a survey research to the librarians and grasping the phenomena on the basis of the system. The necessity, participation, contents, and performing institutions of continuing education were examined in detail, and the correlations among the sub-groups divided by gender, age, academic level of study, career as a librarian were analyzed. Also the direction of continuing education for reference librarians was presented on the basis of the analysis. On the basis of the analyzed contents, the following three methods for an ideal form to the continuing education of the reference librarians were presented in this thesis. 1) It is desirable that the continuing educations are performed at a professionalized institutions such as a library and information science department in a college and an education center for librarians which offers the Certificates of Advanced Study(CAS) as a librarian. 2) It is necessary to develop the various types of educational program in which a working reference librarian may take more chances to study during vacation, weekends, or in the evening time. 3) It is necessary to develop the proper educational contents that reference librarians want, and to educate the librarians in order for them to keep pace with the change of times.

Nurses' Perception of the Importance of Evaluating Continuing Education Programs (간호사의 보수교육 프로그램 평가에 대한 중요도 인식)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the nurses' perception of the importance of evaluating continuing nursing education programs. Methods: Subjects were 465 nurses enrolled in continuing nursing education programs at five university hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected from September 20, 2011 to October 13, 2011. The instrument was developed by the author through a literature review. Content validity was established from a panel of six experts. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The purpose of the program was rated as the most important domain by the subjects. Interestingly, 'program outcome' and 'effectiveness of program' were ranked below the mean (M=$3.64{\pm}0.75$). These two domains were influenced by the district of work and the type of institution. The position of the participants at their institutions made the significant differences on their perception of 'program purpose.' Conclusion: The results of this study might aid us to have better understanding for what nurses perceive the importance of evaluating continuing nursing education programs. This information might be able to be used for improving programs. Further studies are needed to explore the validity of the instruments to evaluate continuing nursing education programs.

  • Continuing education for librarians in Korea are coping with such problems as the inevitability of plans for the increasing demand for library education, needs for professional teaching personnel for the development of the curricula for the Continuing education, strategies to develop the competences of librarians for the new information ecology, designing e-learning contents for librarians, etc. In this regard, this study intends to analyze the current status of continuing education for librarians in Korea and in foreign countries. It attempts to draw some implications, and to present suggestions. It, specifically, focuses on the role of the National Library of Korea as main actor of continuing education for librarians in Korea. The suggestions made are to change the educational system with a creation of an independent institute, as it will bring up professional teaching personnel to work on continuing education for librarians, and will develop initiatives for the new educational system which embraces the changes in educational platforms.

Satisfaction and Completion Status according to Online Continuing Education for Radiological Technologist: Focusing on Busan and Ulsan Areas (방사선사 비대면 온라인 보수교육 실태에 따른 만족도 및 이수현황: 부산, 울산지역을 중심으로)

  • This study examines the status of non-face-to-face online continuing education for radiological technologist working at medical institutions in a region, their satisfaction, and completion status, and provides basic data on the design and operation of continuing education predicted after the post-coronavirus. It was implemented to do. From January 5, 2021 to January 31, 2021, 255 radiological technologist license holders who completed online continuing education in 2020 were targeted. Satisfaction with online continuing education was higher as the age, male radiological technologist, and job title increased after obtaining a license. As for the status of completion of continuing education, the higher the age, the higher the percentage of regular members belonging to the branch, the more moderate the cost of continuing education of medical institutions was guaranteed, and the more the completion of the continuing education license and the recognition of legal restrictions. Based on the results of this study, in order to increase the satisfaction and completion of continuing education, it is necessary to develop various educational programs and contents according to age in preparation for the rapidly changing medical environment, and it is necessary to identify and provide members' needs.
