  • In this paper, we propose the feature points extraction method of hand region using vision. To do this, first, we find the HCbCr color model by using HSI and YCbCr color model. Second, we extract the hand region by using the HCbCr color model and the fuzzy color filter. Third, we extract the exact hand region by applying labeling algorithm to extracted hand region. Fourth, after finding the center of gravity of extracted hand region, we obtain the first feature points by using Canny edge, chain code, and DP method. And then, we obtain the feature points of hand region by applying the convex hull method to the extracted first feature points. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • In this study, we propose a new Fire Flame Region Extraction using Block Homogeneity Segmentation method of the Fire Image with irregular texture and various colors. It is generally assumed that fire flame extraction plays a very important role. The Color Image with fire flame is divided into blocks and edge strength for each block is computed by using modified color histogram intersection method that has been developed to differentiate object boundaries from irregular texture boundaries effectively. The block homogeneity is designed to have the higher value in the center of region with the homeogenous colors or texture while to have lower value near region boundaries. The image represented by the block homogeneity is gray scale image and watershed transformation technique is used to generate closed boundary for each region. As the watershed transform generally results in over-segmentation, region merging based on common boundary strength is followed. The proposed method can be applied quickly and effectively to the initial response of fire.

  • As the interest in the 4th industrial revolution and metaverse increases, metaverse with multi edge structure is proposed and noted. Metaverse is a structure that can create digital doctor-like system through a large amount of image processing and data transmission in a multi edge system. Since metaverse application requires calculating performance, which can reconstruct 3-D space, edge hardware's insufficient calculating performance has been a problem. To provide streamable AI software in runtime, image processing, and data transmission, which is edge's loads, needs to be lightweight. Also lightweight at the edge leads to power consumption reduction of the entire metaverse application system. In this paper, we propose collaborative edge-cloud image processing with remote image processing method and Region of Interest (ROI) to overcome edge's power performance and build streamable and runtime executable AI software. The proposed structure was implemented using a PC and an embedded board, and the reduction of time, power, and network communications were verified.

  • In this paper, a generalized auto-regressive(AR) model is proposed for linear prediction based on adaptive spatio-temporal support region(ASTSR). The conventional AR model suffers from the drawback that the prediction error increases in the edge region because the rectangular support region of the edge does not satisfy the stationary assumption. Thus, the proposed approach puts an emphasis on the formulation of a spatio-temporally adaptive support region for the AR model, called ASTSR. The ASTSR consists of two parts: the adaptive spatial support region(ASSR) connected with edges and the adaptive temporal support region(ATSR) related to temporal discontinuities. The AR model based on ASTSR not only produces more accurate model parameters but also reduces the computational complexity in the motion picture restoration.

  • In this paper, an automatic extraction method of glomerulus region from human renal tissue image is presented. The important information reflecting the state of kidneys richly included in the glomeruli, so it should be the first step to extract the glomerulus region from the renal tissue image for the further quantitative analysis of the renal condition. Especially, there is no clear difference between the glomerulus and other tissues, so the glomerulus region can not be easily extracted from its background by the existing segmentation methods. The outer edge of a glomerulus region is regarded as a common property for the regions of this kind ; a two- dimensional Gaussian distribution is used to convolve with an original image first and then the image is thresholded at this blurred image ; a closed curve corresponding to the outer edge can be obtained by usual pattern processing skills like thinning, branch-cutting, hole-filling etc., Finally, the glomerulus region can be obtained by extracting the area in the original image surrounded by the closed curve. The glomerulus regions are correctly extracted by 85 percentages and experimental results show the proposed method is effective.

  • In this paper, we proposed a digital watermarking method based on the edge-wavelet transform to protect digital contents copyrights. We find out the optimal watermark insertion region and the proper amount of watermark in order to satisfy robustness and imperceptibility against various attacks such as noise, compression, collusion, clipping, scaling. Especially through this experiment, we could find out the adequate location of watermark insertion and proper amount of watermark and it is also viewed to satisfy robustness and imperceptibility in the lower frequency region with small watermark quantity.

  • Many building detection methods mainly rely on line segments extracted from aerial or satellite imagery. Building detection methods based on line segments, however, are difficult to succeed in high resolution satellite imagery such as IKONOS imagery, for most buildings in IKONOS imagery have small size of roofs with low contrast between roof and background. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to extract line segments and group them at the same time. First, edge preserving filtering is applied to the imagery to remove the noise. Second, we segment the imagery by watershed method, which collects the pixels with similar intensities to obtain homogeneous region. The boundaries of homogeneous region are not completely coincident with roof boundaries due to low contrast in the vicinity of the roof boundaries. Finally, to resolve this problem, we set up snake model with segmented region boundaries as initial snake's positions. We used a greedy algorithm to fit a snake to roof boundary. Experimental results show our method can obtain more .correct roof boundary with small size and low contrast from IKONOS imagery. • To achieve efficient combustion within a manageable length, a successful fuel injection scheme must provide rapid mixing between the fuel and airstreams. The aim of the present numerical research is to investigate the flame holding and combustion enhancement. Additional fuel into the cavity prevents shear flow impingement on the trailing edge of the cavity. The high temperature freestream flow mixes with the cold hydrogen fuel that is injected into the cavity and raises the fuel temperature remarkably and become to start combustion. The high pressure in the cavity due to the cavity structure and combustion leads the hydrogen fuel to upstream. The shock in the cavity to be generated by the fuel injection joins together and reflects off the ceiling wall. This makes high pressure and low mach number region and makes a small recirculation in this region. This high stagnation temperature is nearly recovered in the shear layer in front of the cavity and leads to start combustion. In the downstream of the cavity, the wall pressure drops significantly. This means that the combustion phenomenon is diminished. Because fuel lumps at the trailing edge of the cavity then it spreads after the cavity so, in this region there is a strong expansion.

  • We propose a hierarchical disparity estimation algorithm with edge-preserving energy-based regularization. Initial disparity vectors are obtained from downsampled stereo images using a feature-based region-dividing disparity estimation technique. Dense disparities are estimated from these initial vectors with shape-adaptive windows in full resolution images. Finally, the vector fields are regularized with the minimization of the energy functional which considers both fidelity and smoothness of the fields. The first two steps provide highly reliable disparity vectors, so that local minimum problem can be avoided in regularization step. The proposed algorithm generates accurate disparity map which is smooth inside objects while preserving its discontinuities in boundaries. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the capabilities of the proposed disparity estimation technique.
