  • Internet of Things(IoT) has become a key available technology for efficiently implementing device to device(D2D) services in various domains such as smart home, healthcare, smart city, agriculture, energy, logistics, and transportation. A lightweight publish/subscribe(Pub/Sub) messaging protocol not only establishes data dissemination pattern but also supports connectivity between IoT devices and their applications. Also, a Pub/Sub broker is deployed to facilitate data exchange among IoT devices. A scalable edge-based publish/subscribe (Pub/Sub) broker overlay networks support latency-sensitive IoT applications. In this paper, we design a hypercube grid quorum(HGQ) for distributed Pub/Sub systems based IoT applications. In designing HGQ, the network of hypercube structures suitable for the publish/subscribe model is built in the edge layer, and the proposed HGQ is designed by embedding a mesh overlay network in the hypercube. As their applications, we propose an HGQ-based mechansim for dissemination of the data of sensors or the message/event of IoT devices in IoT environments. The performance of HGQ is evaluated by analytical models. As the results, the latency and load balancing of applications based on the distributed Pub/Sub system using HGQ are improved.

  • The present study examined the effects of micro leading-edge flaps on the vortex characteristic changes of a double-delta wing through pressure measurements of the wing upper surface and PIV measurements of the wing-leeward flow region. The experimental data were collected and analyzed while changing the deflection angle of the leading-edge flaps to investigate the feasibility of using micro leading-edge flaps as flow control devices. The test results revealed that the leading edge modification could greatly alter the vortex flow pattern and the wing surface pressure of the delta wing, which suggested that the leading-edge flaps could be used as an effective device for the control of delta-wing vortex flow.

  • Typical magnetic bubble propagation failure modes of ion implanted magnetic bubble computer memory devices were observed and their failure mechanisms were analize. The skidding failure mode is due to the pushing of a strong repulsive charged wall. If this pushing is stronger than the edge affinity of the bubble in the cusp, the bubble moves out of the cusp when it is supposed to stay there. The stripeout failure modes across the adjacent track or along the track can be explained by considering the relative strength of the charged wall and the edge affinity encountered by both ends of the stripe. The skipping of the first cusp of a track is believed to be due to the whipping motion of the charged wall. The bubble moves directly to the second cusp via the long charged wall pointing to the second cusp skipping the first cusp.

  • In recent years, an IoT is dramatically developing according to the enhancement of AI, the increase of connected devices, and the high-performance cloud systems. Huge data produced by many devices and sensors is expanding the scope of services, such as an intelligent diagnostics, a recommendation service, as well as a smart monitoring service. The studies of edge computing are limited as a role of small server system with high quality HW resources. However, there are specialized requirements in a smart factory domain needed edge computing. The edges are needed to pre-process containing tiny filtering, pre-formatting, as well as merging of group contexts and manage the regional rules. So, in this paper, we extract the features and requirements in a scope of efficiency and robustness. Our edge offers to decrease a network resource consumption and update rules and learning models. Moreover, we propose architecture of edge computing based on learning factors sharing with a cloud system in a smart factory.

  • Opening a bandgap by forming graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and tailoring their properties via doping is a promising direction to achieve graphene-based advanced electronic devices. Applying a first-principles computational approach combining density functional theory (DFT) and DFT-based non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) calculation, we herein study the structural, electronic, and charge transport properties of boron-nitrogen binary edge doped GNRs and show that it can achieve novel doping effects that are absent for the single B or N doping. For the armchair GNRs, we find that the B-N edge co-doping almost perfectly recovers the conductance of pristine GNRs. For the zigzag GNRs, it is found to support spatially and energetically spin-polarized currents in the absence of magnetic electrodes or external gate fields: The spin-up (spin-down) currents along the B-N undoped edge and in the valence (conduction) band edge region. This may lead to a novel scheme of graphene band engineering and benefit the design of graphene-based spintronic devices.

  • Edge termination technique is essential fer the fabrication of high volage devices. A proper edge termination technique is also needed in the fabrication of Silicon Carbide power devices for obtaining a stable high blocking voltage properties. Among the many techniques, the field plate formation is the easiest one that can utilize it for commercial usage. The growth of thick thermal oxide is difficult for SiC, however. In this paper, 6A grade SiC schottky barrier diodes(SBD) were fabricated with field plate edge termination. The oxides which is field plate were formed various methods such as dry oxidation, 10% $N_2O$ nitrided oxidation and PECVD deposition. The reverse characteristics of the SiC SBD with various oxide field plate were investigated.

  • In recent years, edge computing technology consists of several Internet of Things (IoT) devices with embedded sensors that have improved significantly for monitoring, detection, and management in an environment where big data is commercialized. The main focus of edge computing is data optimization or task offloading due to data and task-intensive application development. However, existing offloading approaches do not consider correlations and associations between data and tasks involving edge computing. The extent of collaborative offloading segmented without considering the interaction between data and task can lead to data loss and delays when moving from edge to edge. This article proposes a range segmentation of dynamic offloading (RSDO) algorithm that isolates the offload range and collaborative edge node around the edge node function to address the offloading issue. The RSDO algorithm groups highly correlated data and tasks according to the cause of the overload and dynamically distributes offloading ranges according to the state of cooperating nodes. The segmentation improves the overall performance of edge nodes, balances edge computing, and solves data loss and average latency.

  • Thanks to the development of information technology and the vitalization of smart services, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, in which various smart devices are connected to the network, has been continuously developed. In the legacy IoT architecture, data processing has been centralized based on cloud computing, but there are concerns about a single point of failure, end-to-end transmission delay, and security. To solve these problems, it is necessary to apply decentralized blockchain technology to the IoT. However, it is hard for the IoT devices with limited computing power to mine blocks, which consumes a great amount of computing resources. To overcome this difficulty, this paper proposes an IoT architecture based on the edge computing technology that can apply blockchain technology to IoT devices, which lack computing resources. This paper also presents an operaional procedure of blockchain in the edge computing-based IoT architecture.

  • Open IoT platform that shares communication infrastructure and provides cloud resources can flexibly reduce development period and cost of smart service. In this paper, as an open IoT platform, we propose a virtual IoT system based on edge computing that implements a virtual IoT device for a physical IoT device and allows service developers to interact with the virtual device. A management server in the edge cloud, near the IoT physical device, manages the creation, movement, and removal of virtual IoT devices corresponding to the physical IoT devices. This paper define the operations of the management server, the physical IoT device, and the virtual IoT device, which are major components of the virtual IoT system, and design the communication protocol required to perform the operations. Finally, through simulations, this paper evaluate the performance of the edge computing based virtual IoT system by confirming that each component performs the defined states and operations as designed.
