  • Despite the rapid economic growth since the 1960s the economic inequality has been exacerbated in Korea. This study analyzed the variables influencing the level of objective deprivation. For empirical analysis this study used the data on 602 households in the city of Inchon collected by the researcher through interviews. The major method used in this study was the four stepwise multiple regression. The findings were as follows : the residential class was the most critical variable in determining the level of deprivation. For the entire sample assets had stronger effect on the deprivation than nonasset income but two variables had different effects depending on residential class. For the poor residential class two variables had the effect These results imply that the household consumption in Korea shows remarkable difference according to residential class and that the inequality of wealth compared to that of nonasset income had much more serious effects.

  • This study analyzed how not only socio-economic variables but also lifestyle variables affect the expenditure and the patterns of households. The result of multiple regression analysis resealed that economic variables(e.g, income, saving, property) and lifestyle variable(e.g, enjoyment and convenience seeking type) affected the consumption expenditure. Based on the result of cluster analysis, The consumption expenditure patterns of urban households were separated as 1)necessity dominant pattern, 2)transportation $.$ communication dominant patters, 3)other consumption dominant pattern, 4)education$.$culture and recreation dominant pattern. The result of logistic analysis revealed that debt, saying and living location variables were major factors to determine the consumption expenditure patterns of urban households. But did not Influence on the Consumption Expenditure Patterns.

  • Molybdenum as by-products of Sangdong tungsten mine occurrs in the form of molybdenite in quartz vein. The molybdenum contents of scheelite in Sangdong ore bodies ranges from trace to 8%, therefore the scheelites show variable fluorescence colores under ultra-violet lamp (short wave). The fluorescence color are in order high content of molybdenum, yellow, white and blue. The yellow fluorescing scheelite is dominant in upper ore vein, otherwise the blue fluorescent variety is dominant in lower ore vein. The fluorescence color of scheelite in the main ore vein show zonal distribution becoming progressively more blue outerwards, contrary more yellow innerwards, and even in single scheelite crystal, simillar zonal pattern is observed, too. Molybdenite occurrs as flakes or elongated blades at the margins of the quartz vein only molybdenite bearing quartz veins but also other sulfides mineral bearing quartz veins have mainly blue flourescing scheelites. We suggest that the molybdenum contents of the early stage ore solution are progressively decreased by a subsequent crystallization of the yellow fluorescing scheelites.

  • We use a data-mining bootstrap procedure to investigate the predictability test in the eight Asia-Pacific regional stock markets using in-sample and out-of-sample forecasting models. We address ourselves to the data-mining bias issues by using the data-mining bootstrap procedure proposed by Inoue and Kilian and applied to the US stock market data by Rapach and Wohar. The empirical findings show that stock returns are predictable not only in-sample but out-of-sample in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea with a few exceptions for some forecasting horizons. However, we find some significant disparity between in-sample and out-of-sample predictability in the Korean stock market. For Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, stock returns have predictable components both in-sample and out-of-sample. For the US, Australia, and Canada, we do not find any evidence of return predictability in-sample and out-of-sample with a few exceptions. For Japan, stock returns have a predictable component with price-earnings ratio as a forecasting variable for some out-of-sample forecasting horizons.

  • Any investment analysis has to deal with the uncertainty that arises over the course of operating the invested project. When it comes to an wind power, such analysis gets even more complicated, as the wind resource or the current is inherently unstable and unpredictable. Different from predecessors in the field of analyzing wind power economics, this paper proposes a stochastic methodology of analyzing the economic efficiency of an investment in wind power to explicitly address those uncertainties or risks. A probability distribution is assigned to each variable to generate a probability distribution of the economic value of an investment through a Monte-Carlo simulation

  • Anthracite exports have special value within the DPRK's economy. In this paper, we focus on what determines the DPRK's anthracite exports to China. We use panel data consisting of cross-section data from 30 provinces in China and quarterly time-series data from 1998 to 2013. Controlling for all other variables that affect anthracite imports, the variable for steel production in China is robust and statistically significant. This is consistent with on-site interviews which indicate that much of North Korean anthracite is consumed by China's steel industry. This implies that the North Korean authorities need to make adjustments to the foreign trade structure, as the import demand for anthracite in China may decline further.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the expenditure state of midlife households for elderly life stage and to find out the variables that have influence upon these expenditure. The findings are follows: 1) The expenditure state was influenced by various as like wife’s age, couple’s education, number of children, husband’s retiring allowance, monthly savings, whole assets of households, level of dependence upon own children, etc. 2) The demand for economic preparation, program about elderly life, information and welfare system was related to the practical expenditure state absolutely and relatevely. The result showed that the husbands’retiring allowance was the most effective variable to the expenditure state for the elderly life. In conclusion the rational distribution of economics resources according to the family life stage is very important for the economic welfare of households.

  • This research proposes a method for designing VSI (Variable Sampling Interval) control charts with supplementary run rules. The basic idea is to apply various run rules and the VSI scheme to a control chart in order to increase the sensitivity. The sampling process of the VSI run rules chart is constructed by Markov chain approach. A procedure for designing the VSI run rules chart is proposed based on Lorenzen and Vance's model. Sensitivity study shows that the VSI run rules charts outperform the FSI (Fixed Sampling Interval) run rules charts for wide range of process mean shifts. A major advantage of the VSI run rules chart over other charts such as CUSUM, EWMA, and adaptive charts is it's simplicity in implementation. Some useful guidelines are proposed based on the sensitivity study.

  • Innovation clusters are essential in the economic development of many developed countries across the world. While they present ways for under-developed and developing countries to grow their economies, fully operational innovation clusters are yet to be established in Nigeria. Many experts argue that learning from experience is an effective way of galvanizing economic development. Therefore, in this study, an empirical analysis involving a multi-variable quantitative analysis was used to examine the factors that influence the performance of the Daedeok Innopolis Innovation Cluster (South Korea). The results obtained show that the investment in education, Research and Development (R&D), labor capacity of key players within the innovation cluster, and the transfer of technology (within the cluster) were essential factors that influence the performance of the Daedeok Innopolis Innovation Cluster.

  • I.P exploration is conducted mainly at the alluvium covered granodiorite stock of the Red Hill area at the Dongjeom coal mine, employing Canadian Mcphar equipments of variable frequencies-domain method along a total of 8.5 survey line. Mineralization zone is found by LP anomalies along the I.P the profile of frequency mode. Comparing with the past drilling data, the cause of each anomly is furthermore identified as copper bearing mineralized zones. As alteration and mineralization cover all over the Red-Hill altered grandiorite, copper bearing sulfide veinlets and strings filled out the fractured and altered zones.
