Labyrinth Seal Design for Preventing Internal Inflow of Plating Solution (도금액의 내부 유입 방지를 위한 래버린스 시일 설계)

  • Molten zinc plating is a process in which zinc is thinly coated over a metallic or non-metallic surface. It is used in various industrial fields for corrosion resistance and decoration. During the process, a steel sheet is passed through a roll that rotates inside the molten zinc liquid in the temperature range of $460^{\circ}C$ to $680^{\circ}C$, and the plating liquid flows into the roll causing abrasion and erosion of the roll surface. This problem is known to accelerate the replacement cycle of the roll and cause considerable economic loss owing to production line stoppage. Here, we propose a mechanism that operates at high temperature and pressure with a labyrinth type seal design to resolve this problem. We theoretically investigate the flow of the plating solution inside the seal and compute the minimum rotation speed required to prevent the plating solution from entering the seal chamber. In addition, we calculate the thermal deformation of the seal during operation and display thermally deformed dimensions at high temperatures. To verify the theoretical results, we perform experiments using pilot test equipment working in the actual plating environment. The experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical results. We expect our results to contribute towards the extension of the roll's life span and thereby reduce the economic losses.

Evaluation of the Pilot Village Project of Environment-Friendly Agriculture for a Rice Farming (친환경농업 시범마을 조성사업의 성과분석)

  • Crop inputs in excess of the yield potential of the soil type reduce profitability and increase pollution problems from leaching and runoff. Inaccurate fertilizer and pesticide application can also result in profit loss. Current farming practices plan only for the dominate soil in the field. A government-supported program titled "Pilot village project for the environment-friendly agriculture" was proceeded from 1999 to 2001 to tackle the problems with which our agriculture is faced by introducing IPM, INM and others. The objective of this study is to consider the potential input savings of agricultural chemicals and economic feasibility of the project compared with the conventional farming. The results of the analysis indicate the followings: (1) organic or no-pesticide farming size was increased from 9% in 1999 to 20% in 2001 ; (2) crop yield was a link bit lower than that of the conventional farming, but the sal6 price, gross income and income of the pilot village were 6%, 10% and 9% higher than that of the conventional farming, respectively; and (3) fertilizer and pesticide use also showed decreasing trend gradually.

  • Development of the economic methods and the design of the standard sections needs the more project fund and land than ever leads to the objection of enlarging canal arrangement to need economic construction method development and standard design for supporting it. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of selected sediment reduction methods to reduce sediment discharges from drain and irrigation of different land types (Mountain, Flatten, Reclaimed land). This study was carried out to analysis for the soil loss and sediment of drain and irrigation by comparing RUSLE method and amount of sediment from amount of dredging data of Korea Rural Corporation. The results of study were analyzed and summarized as follow. Size of soil sediment from the upper region of drain and irrigation of mountains bigger than lower region. But in case of flatten and reclaimed land, size of soil sediment from the upper and lower region of drain and irrigation did not classified. In case of comparison drain and irrigation without classifying of land type, size of soil sediment from irrigation is bigger than drain.

  • Efficient energy use becomes necessary since energy consumption has dramatically been increasing due to continuous economic development and population growth. In particular, high efficient vacuum glazing needs to be introduced to buildings where enormous energy loss occurs through windows and has been rarely used yet due to its high price and performance. Therefore, in this study, torch for glass welding was developed with CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experiments. Torch shape, nozzle diameter, nozzle arrangement etc. were mainly optimized and hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas fuels the torch. Finally, glass welding with the developed torch has been successful, showing that it can be used to develop economic vacuum glazing.

A Study on Multi-story Building Users' Opinions about the Installation of Emergency Plumbing Equipment for Preventing the Spread of Water Leakage (다층건물 사용자의 누수확대 방지용 비상배수설비 설치에 대한 의견 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the necessity of 'emergency plumbing equipment for preventing the spread of water leakage'. It reviews social and economic costs when there is spread of water leakage and finds out that those are enormous. Expansion of water leakage causes conflicts between neighbors, economic loss and inconvenience from damages on facilities like elevator and power failure. Next, it examines the inability of existing plumbing equipment when it comes to spread of water leakage. Newly defined 'Surface Leakage' means rapid leak in the surface, and 'Internal Leakage' means seeping out slowly and gradually buried in the pipeline. It will also be analyzed by separating the concept of a leak in the two concepts of a 'Surface Leakage' and 'Internal Leakage'. It proposes emergency plumbing equipment for preventing the spread of water leakage as a solution for the expansion of water leakage. It explains general concepts of emergency plumbing equipment for preventing the spread of water leakage. It will also examine the effectiveness of the user by performing a survey of 420 multi-level building their opinion on the effects of an emergency plumbing equipments to prevent the spread of water leakage.

  • This study was conducted to mass-produce brown stock optimized by using a high-pressure heating extractor and to use brown stock as a material for developing various products. For these purposes, we attempted to produce standardized brown stock by extracting brown stock using a high-pressure heating extractor and compared it with brown stock extracted by the traditional method in terms of general elements and mechanical and sensory characteristics. With regard to how to prepare optimal brown stock, the best brown stock was that extracted seven times repeatedly by the traditional method, but the method had a large economic loss in terms of material consumption and took a long time in extraction. Thus, considering time and labor, it was concluded that extraction at 120$^{\circ}C$ for 15 hours using a high-pressure heating extractor is the optimal extraction condition in terms of economic efficiency and quality. The results of this study are expected to be useful as a practical material for making brown stock production process more convenient, applying cooks' traditional cooking techniques to mass production, maintaining standardized superior quality and taste, and improving shelf life.

  • In this paper, we would be searching for the complemental aspects in industrial relations of Korea compared with that of Japan. It is very reasonable that historical, geographical, and especially gene analysis data are almost identical, considering that the general evaluations to the motive of Japan's industry are $\ulcorner$the modernization of the tradition$\lrcorner$. Although it is reported Korea accomplished the high economic growth rate, the economic growth rate(efficiency) could not be continued. This reason looks like that Korean proper(eigen) traits(:Gene-ware) have been oppressed and concealed by social climate such as jealousy, stratagem and hatred, we can find one of this facts in the criminal and complaint numbers as social trust measurement. There are many cases that Korean industry was distorted by the superiority/inferiority relations, for examples, the loss of the native(eigen or proper) resources, a distorted introduction of the production method and the unfolding of the industry which be not related to the characteristics of region. In this reasons, Korean industry could not play the role of Human-ware function which activates Gene-ware or, Gene-Nascence. In this Human-ware aspects, Japanese characteristics, such as $\ulcorner$Getting the basic right$\lrcorner$ and $\ulcorner$Tendency to the origin$\lrcorner$, are to be useful in the Nascence of Gene-ware in Korean industry.

Thermo-economic approach for absorption air condition onboard high-speed crafts

  • High-speed crafts suffer from losing a huge amount of their machinery energy in the form of heat loss with the exhaust gases. This will surely increase the annual operating cost of this type of ships and an adverse effect on the environment. This paper introduces a suggestion that may contribute to overcoming such problems. It presents the possibility of reusing the energy lost by the ships' exhaust gases as heating source for an absorption air condition unit onboard high-speed crafts. As a numerical example; the proposed method was investigated at a high-speed craft operating in Red Sea between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The results obtained are very satisfactory. It showed the possibility of providing the required ship's air condition cooling load during sailing and in port. Economically, this will reduce the annual ship's operating cost. Moreover, it will achieve a valuable reduction of ship's emissions.

  • Most vehicles are in the form of maintenance when a problem occurs by the user himself or herself. During maintenance, users are not able to operate the car while it is being serviced, and if the target vehicle is a revenue-generating vehicle, they will have to bear economic losses. Collecting vehicle information in real time, identifying problems that could arise with a vehicle based on the collected big data and providing advance service rather than after-sales service can help secure vehicle operation and reduce economic loss. Thus, in this thesis, a platform was designed to design IoT-based gateways, collect real-time vehicle information, and organize big data to provide vehicle information in real time.

A Comparative Study on the Duty of Disclosure and Warranty in Marine Insurance Contract (해상보험계약에 있어서 고지의무와 워런티)

  • In this article, 1'd like to analyse the principal distinctions between the duty of disclosure and warranty which are based on the same legal principles, utmost good faith(uberrima fides). Although the duty of disclosure and warranty have a same legal principle to protect insurance contract, they have several difference in appliance actually. Through these comparative analysis, 1 want to reveal the character of warranty which is unfamiliar to us under our commercial law. Warranty has some peculiarity, these are (a)A warranty does not have to be material to the risk, (b)A warranty must be exactly complied with, (c)It is impossible to defence for a breach of warranty, the breach of warranty is irremediable, and A casual connection between breach and loss needs not be shone, (d)A breach of a warranty may be waived by insurer. Sometimes in Korea like those stringent principles of warranty make Korean's small fishing or shipping company suffer from difficult because of insistence of discharge from liability by insurer. So I expect that all of them acknowledge the character of warranty and can make them protect their insurance money by themselves.
