Purpose: This study examines some successful and failed cases of Korean private universities' profitable business and explores the desirable economic value and direction of their profitable business business operations with a view to shedding light on some clues conducive to their financial health and quality education. Research design, data and methodology: This study reviews news articles, reports and literature to find out Korean universities' financial condition and examines some successful and failed examples of their corporations' profit-making business operations to suggest a direction. Results: Private universities suffer declining enrollments and/or tuition freeze but they lack in making efforts to secure financial health. The reviewed examples of private universities' profit-making business operations suggest both universities and their corporations should first assume the public accountability prior to engaging in diverse business activities. Conclusions: First, to remain financially healthy, university corporations should exert themselves to transform their low-profit-margin lands and buildings into high-profit-margin businesses and to credit the realized income to their school-expense accounts. And, the ultimate purpose of universities' profit-making business operations is to realize a decent income without prejudice to their public accountability for the country and community, while forging a virtuous cycle by investing the income for the betterment of their educational quality and competitiveness.

Purpose: This study extends previous empirical work on the threshold effects of institutions on the relationship between infrastructure and economic growth. It does so by using three sub-indices of institutions as the threshold variable in place of aggregate index. This is with a view to determining the roles of the sub-indices in the nexus between infrastructure and economic growth. Research design, data and methodology: The analysis is based on a dynamic panel threshold regression model using a panel data set comprising 41 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa over the sample period of 1996-2015. Data are obtained from Ogbaro (2019). Results: The study finds that infrastructure exerts significant positive effects on economic growth below and above the threshold values of the three sub-indices, with higher effects above the threshold values. Results also show that on average, the Sub-Saharan African countries are not able to satisfy any of the threshold conditions, which accounts for their poor growth experience. Conclusion: The study concludes that countries with weak institutions do not benefit maximally from infrastructure development policies. The paper, therefore, recommends that countries in Sub-Saharan Africa need to focus on improving their institutional patterns if they are to reap the optimum benefits from their infrastructure development efforts.

The advent of microprocessor controls and robotics is rapidly changing the face of manufacturing throughout the world. Large and small companies alike are adopting these new methods to improve the efficiency of their operations. Factory Automation, which is in reality by robots, is playing more important role in economic competition and growth. Its core technology, i.e. robotics, is advanced in accordance with the remarkable progress of the computer technology and micro-electronics. Roughly speaking, its future might determine the fate of a national economy. In this paper, the future trends of such robotics and factory automation are described from a point of view of industrial application.

The biggest challenge facing today's manufacturing industry is better quality and high productivit. From an economic point of view, productivity is the most important parameter, as high productivity will reduce the cost. However, the customers of today are not only cost concerned, but also quality conscious. So high accuracy levels should also be achieved in the manufacturing process. The aim of this paper is to get a comprehensive understanding of its machinability properties and to investigate the relationship between cutting conditions and surface roughness for Ball End Mill cutting process so as to enhance its practical application.

This paper presents the development of a fuel cell dynamic simulator using a programmable DC power supply and LabVIEW graphical user interface. The developed simulator closely describes the static and dynamic characteristics of an actual proton exchange membrance fuel cell (PEMFC). The experimental results are provided to verify the operation of the simulator. The developed simulator can be used as a convenient and economic alternative to an actual fuel cell for developing and testing a fuel cell power conditioning system.

This study proposes a technology valuation model applicable for technology transfer or transaction, based on the review of theoretical models and practical applications. The model analyzes individual technologies that can be transacted as economic goods in terms of intellectual properties as subjects of transaction. Most of studies on tobacco have researched it as economic or cultural factor. These studies, certainly, have the value of their own. But from time to time these studies have brought about romantic view regarding tobacco, and have been an obstacle to approach it as a medical factor. Thus this thesis will introduce documents of tobacco as medical factor. Through it we will be able to furnish researchers with information to treat poison caused by tobacco.

The simplified simulation technique for the best generation mix is developed and the studied results are described. The best generation mix over study time from the economic point of view can be easily constructed by this technique. Generator maintenance, the operation of pumpgenerator and LNG thermal generator with limited energy are simulated variously, so a role of each generator is also easily evaluated. Through parametric analysis, useful planning guide points are obtained for the best generation mix transition, nuclear power plant construction cost, ruanium cost , oil cost, coal cost and midnight factor in the study case corresponding to real power system size model.
