  • In this paper a modeling paradigm is described for answering the following questions: What would be the economic impact A, the social impact B, the demographic impact C, the land-use impact D, the environmental impact E and the user benefit F, over geographic scale G for a transport investment H at time T. The paradigm is illustrated for two ITS technologies: Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS)and Advanced Vehicle Control Systems (AVCS).

  • In recent years, the world development of alternative construction materials is associated with disposal problems of waste materials as a result of industrial activities. Technologies of refining gypsum to several gypsum modifications ($\alpha$ and $\beta$-hemihydrate) which can be used as construction material in a large scale do actually exist or are under development. This paper provides a technical and economic perspective of the waste gypsum treatment. Especially, several applications particularly of $\alpha$-hemihydrate will be presented, e.g. artificial gypsum aggregate and light-weight masonry units.

  • This paper deals with the problem of determining the buyer's economic lot sizing policy for exponentially deteriorating products under trade credit. It is also assumed that the ordering cost consists of a fixed set-up cost and a freight cost, where the freight cost has a quantity discount offered due to the economies of scale. We formulate the mathematical model and the solution algorithm is developed based on the properties of an optimal solution.

  • The study tries to extend the Kang and Kim's model(1997) for evaluating fisheries damages caused by a large scale coastal reclamation. The paper tries to suggest a more generalized model by adopting new applicable variables such as the decreasing rate of production quantity amount and decreasing numbers of variables for simplification and derivation of quantative results. The paper also tries to suggest the decision model for fisheries administrative measures on the basis of the degree of damages.

  • Focusing on the strength of son preference obtained from two surveys of the same area, an attempt has been made to measure the change on the IS value scale that many have occurred over the last seven-year period, the underlying assumption here being that the strength of son preference wanes in inverse proportion to the level of society's socio-economic development. Various methodological approaches have been put to test to weigh the importance of the sex preference as a dependent variable, as an independent variable, and as an intermediate variable. A few methodological issues are suggested.

  • The Eunsan gold mine, together with similar nearby prospects, is situated near the centre of the ‘Wusuyeong’ 1:50000 Scale Geological Quadrangle, an area largely underlain by a thick sequence of non-marine Cretaceous strata. The sequence, several kilometres thick, comprises basaltic and andesitic lavas and tuffs, intercalated with fluvial and lacustrine sediments, passing upwards into a further thick volcanic sequence of predominantly dacitic and rhyolitic composition. • The change of industrial structure, the expansion of economic scale, the elevation of national life level and rapid motorization bring about social problems that are traffic accident, traffic congestion, etc. Especially, big traffic accidents bring about the great number of dead and wounded person with damage of property. But there are no study results available mainly focused on the big traffic accident analysis. Accordingly, this study is essentially for the factor analysis of big accident types including laws violation and the assaulting driver's death using Quantification ll method.

  • Among various joint ventures, International Construction Joint Ventures (ICJVs) have emerged as a popular approach worldwide to developing large scale projects through international participation. A model, based on economic analysis and represented by several hypotheses obtained from the analysis, will be developed. Furthermore, we will empirically test the hypotheses/model using Structural Equation Model (SEM). This research is expected to explain why there exist different organizational forms for ICJVs, and to develop a framework for choosing appropriate forms with respect to various characteristics of ICJVs.
