  • Previous domestic studies on silos have been carried out in many ways in various fields. On the other hand, research on the design and construction of the silo itself have not be conducted actively and an economical approach is rare. The present study provides basic information to determine the scale of the most economical silo, while satisfying the necessary conditions required by construction companies or design firms. The analysis was carried out with various parameters for reinforced concrete structures, including four kinds of storage material (flour, granulated quicklime, sand, and iron ore), five capacity sizes (10,000, 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 90,000 ton), eight variants of H/D (0.5~4), and three types of concrete compressive strengths (30, 35, 40 MPa). The findings established a general rule in that a silo designed between 1 and 3 H/D with a greater concrete strength (40MPa and over) depending on the type of storage material would be the most cost-effective (more than 50% of quantity and labor savings).

  • Recently, due to advances in both imaging technology and ICT, various types of image processing services became available and the application services of these two technologies are diversifying. Recognition of vehicle license plates is used in places where vehicle information is needed such as in parking management. However, existing systems have economic disadvantages like issuing parking tickets and attaching unnecessary equipment. In order to solve these problems, we designed and implemented automatic parking management system through recognition of vehicle license plates by using emguCV that is based on OpenCV. Additionally, we designed improved UI to handle the entire parking management situation which include information such as details of each parking vehicle, parking time and remaining parking spaces without screen movement. This improved UI is implemented with the use of WPF which is the latest technology in user program development. The emguCV used in this paper showed the most optimized performance in Intel based environment. With it, we obtained the result of within 0.5 seconds of recognition processing time and over 90% of recognition rate. Through improved UI, the manager could both simply and intuitively manage the entire system.

  • Hydrogen features highest energy density per mass and is expected to be desirable as a fuel of HALE(High altitude long endurance) UAV(Unmanned aerial vehicle). A reciprocating internal combustion engine is known to be a reliable and economic power source for this kind of UAV. Therefore, the combination of hydrogen and engine is worth of doing research. Test bench with 2.4L Spark-Ignited engine was prepared for the experiment in which start and combustion characteristics at idle condition were examined in this study. Stable hydrogen supply system and a universal ECU(Engine control unit) were also utilized for the test engine. Equivalence ratio and spark timings at idle operation were investigated and compared to the data of gasoline engine. The results will be a starting point for full-scale research of hydrogen engine for HALE UAV.

  • This article examines how the Chinese government blocks the inflow of undesirable information, focusing on the technical aspect of the control mechanism. Unlike Cuba and North Korea, which regulate the whole Internet, China uses both state-of-the-art technological supervision and labor-intensive physical control due to economic reasons in order to prepare for actors who can threaten the Communist party. The Chinese government will not overlook the inflow of information which can be the link between demonstrations and democratization. This is because stronger protests utilizing information technology will trigger the Chinese government's flexible control based on large scale violation and technology. In this article, we first review the concept of universal internet control involved in internet regulation in nations, and then focus on China's internet censorship and its regulatory control from the '90s to the present. Finally, we analyze how the Chinese government actively controls the internet access by utilizing the relationship dynamics between the central and local governments, depending on protest issue. This thesis will assume that it is difficult for China to become democratized due to its information interception, and search how the government manages the internet.

  • Association of South East Asian Nations(ASEAN) has recently decided to develop ASEAN Highway Network to connect member countries by road in an attempt to achieve a goal of closer economic integration in the region. This entailed the necessity to newly construct or upgrade some 5,481 km of road sections to make ASEAN Highway Network functional. This study offers haw we can prioritize development of these road sections using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. Particularly, it shows how individual road sections can be prioritized considering the importance of corridor or road group where the individual road section lies. It also develops how values of different evaluation criteria can be compared in the same scale. This new approach can be useful in prioritizing highway development in such cases where candidate road sections are widely scattered around the region, so detailed benefit and cost analysis is practically too demanding to carry out.

  • This study deals with structural analysis and testing under loading conditions calculated by computational fluid dynamics for a small composite blade that is utilized in a dual rotor wind turbine system. First, the aerodynamic forces were analyzed at the rated and cutout wind speed to identify the bending moment distribution along the blade length in previous research. Then, full-scale structural tests were conducted according to IEC 61400-2 to evaluate the structural integrity of the composite blade. These results were compared with finite element analysis to identify the accuracy of the structural analysis. Based on these results, it was revealed that the existing blade has a very high safety margin. Then, the layup of the composite blade was redesigned and analyzed using finite element analysis to achieve structural integrity and economic efficiency.

  • CCS (Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage) is a means of mitigating the contribution of $CO_2$ to the Greenhouse gas, from large point sources such as power plants and steel companies. CCS is a process whereby $CO_2$ is captured from gases produced by fossil fuel combustion, compressed, transported and injected into deep geologic formations for permanent storage. CCS applied to a conventional power plant can reduce $CO_2$ emissions to the atmosphere by approximately 80~90% compared to a plant without CCS. The IPCC estimates that the economic potential of CCS will be between 10% and 55% of the total carbon mitigation effort by year 2100. In this paper, overseas sites where CCS technology is being applied and technical development trends for CCS are briefly reviewed.

  • This study started with two questions. The first question is 'Why does organic agriculture want to be linked with cooperative?' The second is 'What is the characteristics of the mutual relationship between organic agriculture and cooperative?', especially in Wonju. Up to now, there have been various kinds of discussion about cooperation between organic agricultural campaign and cooperative in Wonju. But there are few concrete data showing what role cooperative plays in the cyclical process of production-distribution-consumption of organic agriculture. Thus, we conducted a survey applying the Delphi technique to the 35 organic agricultural specialists active in Wonju. First, small-scale family farm producers established a social economic cooperative network in around 2003 to perform 'the activities of innovators' through forming an organization. Producers moved from the stage in which they were supported one-sidedly by consumers to the stage where they could 'lead' cooperation. Each farm organization built a vertical integration, and horizontal cooperative systems with other farm organizations. But, practical cooperative activities have remained in the doldrums. They tend to show trends deviating from the principles of organic agriculture and cooperative. Second, the relationship between producers and consumers in Wonju can be described as 'producer-consumer cooperative type'. In Wonju, the producers' organization is not a sub-contractor which simply deliver organic agricultural products to producers' cooperative, but is an equal subject which creates its own value chain. The cooperative (cooperative organization) leads distribution and consumption of organic agricultural products and mutual communication. But, the closeness between producers and consumers has got loosened. And, it is problematic that the proportion of local food consumption in Wonju is very low. There is a very strong tendency to ride the central distribution system of producers' cooperative coalition. Consequently, it is necessary for producers' cooperatives in Wonju to run a local food distribution system based on the 'cooperative system among cooperatives'.
