  • Sustainable development has been the key concept, both in economic policies and in environmental management. On the basis of an systems ecology perspective, this suggests the sustainable development of Korea\`s natural environment and economic activity using the EMERGY evaluation. The total EMERGY use(7,730E20sej/yr) in Korea is 81 percent from imported sources, fuels and goods and services. The ratio of outside investment to attracting natural resources is already large, like other industrialized countries. Continued availability of purchased inputs at a favorable balance of EMERGY trade, currently about 2.85 to 1 net EMERGY, tis the basis for present economic activity and must decrease as the net EMERGY of purchased inputs including fossil fuels goes down. EMERGY yield ratio and environmental loading ratio were 1.23 and 20.30, respectively. The population level is already in excess of carrying capacity. Its carrying capacity for steady state on its renewable sources is only 2.2 million people, compared to 45.9 million in 1977. EMERGY sustainability index is therefore less than one, which is indicative of highly developed consumer oriented economies. Until now the development of a country has been achieved by the economic growth, but it can be sustained in the long run by the use of renewable resource systems. the efficiency of energy usage, and the transformation of the social-economic structure based on an ecological-recycling concept.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to reveal that digital Zakat has a role in economic development. Even when disasters hit densely populated areas in big cities, Zakat is distributed quickly and precisely. Research design, data, and methodology: This study uses literature studies with an approach to Islamic economics and sociology of society. The authenticity of this research is about the potential role of digital Zakat which can create sustainable economic development in slums. Result: The results of the study concluded that economic development in slums could be carried out if it collaborated with Zakat institutions which were carried out in several stages. The existence of sustainable solidarity is a serious threat in the effort to achieve development goals and this is very regrettable by almost everyone because it can increase economic inequality. Conclusion: Strategy development is obtained from empirical evidence, the construction of slums that have been carried out by other countries in various parts of the world who also have the same problem. Although statistically not analyzed the relationship between the potential for Zakat and the level of welfare of densely populated settlements, theoretically digital Zakat can be one of the pillars to achieve community welfare through the distribution of Zakat.

  • The expansion of a country's ecological footprint generates resources for economic development. China's import bill and carbon footprint can be reduced by investing in green transportation and energy technologies. A sustainable environment depends on the cessation of climate change; the current study investigates nuclear energy efficiency, economic complexity, air transportation, and industrial improvement for reducing environmental footprint. Using data spanning the years 1983-2016, the dynamic autoregressive distributed lag simulation method has demonstrated the short- and long-term variability in the impact of regressors on the ecological footprint. The study findings revealed that economic complexity in China had been found to have a statistically significant impact on the country's ecological footprint. Moreover, the industrial improvement process is helpful for the ecological footprint in China. In the short term, air travel has a negative impact on the ecological footprint, but this effect diminishes over time. Additionally, energy innovation is negative and substantial both in the short and long run, thus demonstrating its positive role in reducing the ecological footprint. Policy implications can be extracted from a wide range of issues, including economic complexity, industrial improvement, air transportation, energy innovation, and ecological impact to achieve sustainable goals.
