  • In the domestic atmosphere environment, the VOCs and the NOx have a large proportion of the pollutant, and the HCHO is the main environmental pollutant factor within the house. In this study, the inorganic paint which can absorb and remove VOCs, NOx and HCHO is developed by using day-titania carrier. The basic data to develope eco-friendly inorganic paint is collected with the performance test to remove the VOCs, NOx and HCHO in the condition of the addition of several inorganic materials to the paint, and also the plan to practical use of eco-friendly inorganic paint is studied.

콘크리트 구조물의 친환경 내구성 도장에 관한 기초 연구 (A Study on the Eco-Friendly Durable Pre-Painting for Concrete Structure)

  • 최근 건설 기술의 발달과 건설 환경 변화로 인하여 콘크리트 구조물이 대형화, 고층화되고 있으며 그에 따른 구조물 유지관리와 성능향상을 위한 보수 보강 및 주변환경과의 조화 등 외관을 중시하는 경향이 늘어가고 있다. 본 연구는 토목, 건축분야에서 사용되고 있는 콘크리트 구조물에 적용 가능한 친환경 내구성 도장에 관한 것으로, 기존 유 무기질계 도장재의 온도변화에 따른 신축성, 외벽과의 접착성, 균열과 박리로 인한 내구성 문제를 보완하고 외적 미관 향상에 목적이 있다. 그 방법으로 전처리 혼합물에 고농축 방수액과 접착증강재를 균일하게 혼합한 친환경 전처리 페인트를 조성하여 콘크리트 중성화방지, 내마모성, 은폐력, 접착력, 온도저항성, 내화학성등의 내구성 시험을 하였다. 그 결과, 친환경 전처리 페인트의 도장에 따른 은폐율은 시험기준인 0.96 이상으로 나타났으며, 내마모성시험에서도 일반 수성페인트값 75mg 보다 우수한 1mg의 값을 얻었으며, 인장강도는 방수시방서 기준보다 6.5배 크게 나타났다.

  • In order to reduce the emission of harmful substances that degrade indoor air quality, the Ministry of Environment strengthened the standards for the content of VOCs in paints to supply and sell eco-friendly paints. In this related study, an eco-friendly paint mixed with a powder-type absorbent material was prepared and its characteristics were reviewed. As the amount of powder-type absorbent material increased, the workability (viscosity, peeling, etc) decreased. Accordingly, this study aims to examine which particle size is suitable according to the particle size of the granular adsorbent while improving the problem of the powdery adsorbent by using the granular adsorbent. As an experimental plan, the particle size of granular activated clay is selected to be 0.250, 0.425, 0.710(mm), and the decrease rate of VOCs concentration and impact resistance are reviewed. As a result of the experiment, as the particle size of the granular activated clay increased, the decrease rate of the VOCs concentration increased and the impact resistance improved. Therefore, considering the problems that occur after actual painting, the particle size of granular activated clay of 0.425mm is suitable.

Development of New Edible Pigments using Monascus spp.

  • Carotene, xanthophyll, carotenoid anthocyan, phycopyrine, chlorophyll, and monascus pigments are used as natural coloring agents since they are more stable to human body than synthetic coloring agents. Among them, monascus pigments are a natural red pigment produced by the Monascus purpureus. For the development of edible paint using natural pigment, Monascus purpureus strain was cultured at a temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ for 15 days on a PDYA plate and liquid medium to produce a red pigment. In addition, a large amount of the red pigment was extracted from Hongkuk Koji in parallel with water extraction and ultrasonic wave extraction. At this time, the yield of ultrasonic extract was 2~4 times higher. Thus, Monascus purpureus strains, etc. were prepared by freeze-drying powder. In conclusion, natural paints made with red pigments have enabled the development of been edible paints that can be used as eco-friendly materials with good viscosity, enhanced spread ability and coloration.

활성백토 첨가율에 따른 기능성 발열도료의 특성 (Properties of Functional Heating Paints according to Additional Ratio of Activated Clay)

  • Safety management of steel frame members is a very important part to maintain safety and function. However, precise inspection is not possible for steel frame members due to finishing materials and insulation materials, leading to poor inspection. For steel members, an insulating spray coating method is used for high thermal conductivity. The insulation spray method is not only uneconomical, but also has the disadvantage of spoiling the aesthetics. In addition, VOCs are released from paints used in spraying, so a solution is needed. In this study, heating paint was used to improve the disadvantages of the insulation spray coating method and the high thermal conductivity of steel frame members. In addition to this, in order to reduce VOCs generated from the paint, active clay was added to produce a functional exothermic paint, and then the experiment was conducted. As the amount of activated clay increased, the film thickness increased, and the VOCs emission and thermal conductivity decreased.

환경친화형 고고형분 자동차용 도료의 개발 (Development of Eco-Friendly High-Solids Paints for Automotive Coatings)

  • Manufactures of automotive repair finishes are tending to reduce more and more the level of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in their paint processes in order to comply with increasingly strict environmental legislation. The production of high solids paints is a way to solve this problem. However, the application of high-solids paints is limited primarily by the viscosity of resin which is strongly related to painting ability: the higher solid content, the lower desired property. In this study, alkyl copolymer with low viscosity was synthesized by the introduction of the monomers with long-side chains and functional groups which improve flexibility and cross-linking density, respectively. The solid content of the paint prepared with the synthesized resin was 80wt% and its VOCs was reduced by 20%, compared to the commercialized paint. Also, the physical and mechanical properties of coatings on steel sheets were similar to commercialized one.

Preparation and Characterization of Hydrophobic Coatings from Carnauba Wax/Lignin Blends

  • To realize the infinite possibilities of materials derived from wood, it is necessary to overcome the weak moisture stability of wood. Thus, the development of an eco-friendly hydrophobic coating agent is essential, and of these, woody biomass-based materials are strongly attractive as coatings. In this study, eco-friendly hydrophobic wood coatings were prepared using carnauba wax purified from palm leaves and sprouts, and kraft lignin. The physicochemical properties of the carnauba wax/lignin blends according to the ratio of carnauba wax and lignin were observed by morphology and functional group change. In addition, the coating performance of carnauba wax/lignin blend coatings was confirmed by measuring the contact angle change. It was found that the addition of lignin could accelerate the atomization of wax particles, and that micro-roughness can be realized when applied to the actual wood surface, to ensure that the coating effect over time lasts longer. In addition, it was confirmed that the addition of lignin increases the hydrogen-bond-based interaction with the wood of the coating, thereby providing better coating stability and increasing the durability of the coating solvent under friction. The carnauba wax/lignin paint developed in this way is eco-friendly because all components are made of wood-based raw materials and have an excellent affinity with wood surfaces. Therefore, it is expected to be applicable to the coating process of wood-plastic composites and timber composites.

견운모를 이용한 벽마감용 천연페인트 제조 (Preparation of Natural Wall Paint by Using Sericite Clay)

  • 급격한 도시화와 인구 증가로 인한 건물의 밀폐성 증가로 심각한 실내 공기 오염을 야기하고 있다. 몇몇 실내 공기오염물질 중 페인트에서 방출되는 휘발성 유기화합물(VOCs)이 주요 관심사이다. 따라서 친환경적인 페인트 제품 개발에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 점토광물인 견운모를 사용하여 벽마감용 천연페인트를 제조하였다. 소규모 챔버를 사용하여 벽마감용 천연페인트에 존재하는 독성물질 확인 실험을 하였으며, 2개의 상업용 페인트와 비교 분석하였다. 총 VOC 양은 trace로 권장 실내 공기질 기준보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 벽마감용 천연페인트에서 톨루엔은 검출되지 않았으며 포름알데히드가 trace 레벨로 측정되었다. 독성지수 분석결과 2가지 친환경 상업용 페인트와 비교하여 본 연구에서 개발된 천연페인트가 낮은 유해물질 방출을 나타내었다. 건축자재등급 실험에서 벽마감용 천연페인트가 1등급으로 분류되었다. 이상의 연구결과에서 나타난 바와 같이 벽마감용 천연페인트의 주성분으로 견운모를 사용하는 것이 실내 공기질을 관리하는데 유용할 것이라 판단된다.

자동차 내장재용 열가소성 폴리프로필렌에 적용되는 선처리제용 친환경 수분산 폴리우레탄-우레아의 제조 및 성질 (Preparation and Properties of Eco-friendly Waterborne Polyurethane-urea Primer for Thermoplastic Polypropylene Applied to Automobile Interiors)

  • 폴리염화비닐(polyvinyl chloride, PVC)은 자동차 내장재(도어 트림 및 대쉬 보드 등)에 아주 널리 사용되고 있으나 특정조건에서 유해물질을 배출하므로 규제가 되는 소재로 알려져 있다. 그러므로 열가소성 폴리올레핀계 고분자인 폴리프로필렌(polypropylene, PP)이 자동차 내장재 부분에서 PVC를 대체할 수 있는 중요한 재료로 부각되고 있다. PP(비정영역:0.855, 결정영역:$0.946g/cm^3$)의 또 다른 장점은 PVC($1.1{\sim}1.45g/cm^3$)에 비해 밀도가 낮으므로 자동차의 중량을 줄일 수 있다는 것이다. 한편 모든 부품은 표면보호와 미관상 코팅이 반드시 필요하며, 그들을 조립하는데 접착제가 필요하다. 지금까지 주로 사용해 온 용제-베이스의 접착제/코팅제의 경우 휘발성 유기화합물(volatile organic compounds, VOC)의 발생과 열악한 작업 환경으로 환경친화적인 수성 접착제/코팅제의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구에서는 소수성 고분자 PP에 적용되는 환경친화적인 다양한 수분산 폴리우레탄-우레아 선처리제(primer: 마감도료가 기질에 보다 잘 접착될 수 있도록 선처리하는 도료)를 이온성분 dimethyl propionic acid (DMPA) 함량별, 다양한 NCO/OH 몰비, 변성 실리콘 디올의 다양한 함량 및 소프트세그먼트 함량 등의 여러 배합으로 제조하였다. 제조된 시료 중 DMPA 함량 21 mol%, 소프트세그먼트 함량 73%, 변성 실리곤 디올 5 wt% 및 NCO/OH 몰비 1.2를 사용한 시료가 기질 PP 시트와의 접착력이 우수하였으며, 첨가제는 분산제 0.5 wt%, 레벨링제 0.5 wt%, 소포제 1.5 wt% 및 소광제 3.0 wt%가 가장 적합한 첨가 함량임을 알 수 있었다.
